Finally tried printing again with the same results, lol. I should try some very smooooth paper, this plain junk ruins the printing because of how textured it is, makes it look fuzzy. 1.551cm width worked great, there's even a little bit of room for error. Love the decals dude, I'm trying my hand at Red Sonja, getting used to using the Pen Tool over again is a pain in the bum! Edit: printed on photo paper, much sharper! Though I see the problem with printing on white paper, it messes with some of the colors >_<

Sacrifices had to be made, but I think this is shaping up pretty well. Next time I build it it'll be wider/longer, but this one is still functional. I have no idea how I'm gonna make the rest of the body :( Suggestions? ^_^ The hatches open to fit a prisoner lying down in there (it's hollow under the stacked wedges). I was thinking of making them with this and some/one of these to keep it see-through, but that idea fizzled out. I can't find in LDD ._.

LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars

I was looking forward to playing this game and then remembered, wait, I haven't bought a new game system since the Gamecube. Nuts. -
Cool freezer pic, K! The lighting is nice, I know I can't take shots like that in my freezer (mainly because it's covered in blood, ew)

Oh man, I just got Grievous's ship (8095) and the Magnaguard ship (7673) for about $42 TOTAL! (from the same seller) Yes, it cost me like 2 days of not sleeping, hovering over ebay like a starved hawk, but it paid off! I kinda feel like having a contest and giving away prizes to share the joy, lol. Also, thank Mitra arclight customs is coming back, for the price of one Aayla, I can get their custom Aayla and Talon!

Getting girls to play with/buy LEGO
Henchmen4Hire replied to FiletOFish's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Excellent, keep the battle going! Don't let the pink win! :D --- Girls left on their own won't gravitate towards pink, it's the parents who bombard them with pinkness early on that are the "problem". Pink is cool, but it's time to tone it down already, haha. Having a crappy childhood, my sister and I weren't fortunate enough to have many toys, much less pick and choose the colors, even less to pick quality toys. We were lucky if we found a flat ball, covered in green gunk and brown dirt and sticky orange Kool-Aid. We learned to find fun in anything, any shape or form. With no one to impose their will on us of "boys play with blue! girls play with pink!", we saw all toys as fair game. Of course then we got older and started to care what other kids thought. No one wants to play with the boy with a pink ball or the girl who plays with GI Joes, they get labeled a tomboy or gay. And kids don't make up these rules, their parents do, because that's what their parents taught them. There's obviously a difference between Barbies and GI Joes... one box says "Barbie" and the other says "GI Joe" :P There's nothing in a toy's essence that makes it more or less suitable for a boy or girl. I know it's hard for adults to grasp the concept because of how conditioned they are to believing otherwise. There's no innate difference between a pink ball and a green one, that's what I mean. The pink one isn't any more effeminate than the green one (it's not a "girl's toy", any more than a blue LEGO brick is a "boy's toy"). Muscle cars aren't more manly than vespas, butterflies aren't more girlie than sabre-toothed tigers, they only seem that way to people who have been influenced to think that way. There's nothing wrong with it, there's no such thing as "wrong", it is what it is. And yeah, unfortunately I've been influenced. Today I wouldn't be caught dead wearing pink but 13 years ago I would have had no problem putting on a pink cape and running around the neighborhood. -
I know, arealight customs sells them, but their shop is closed :( I really wanna make a cyborg Twi'lek chick! (edit: lol, just saw they're opening again on the 7th next month, it's amazing how ravenous those darn twi'leks will make someone)
-
Another quick one, and a picture with a minifig at the end to show scale
-
It is? Sweet! xD It's my neighbor's, I figured it was part of the OT sets so it was a Stormtrooper. (i should really go see the movies)

Getting girls to play with/buy LEGO
Henchmen4Hire replied to FiletOFish's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It confuses me why those dollhouse lego sets even exist. Bricks are genderless, the spaceships, planes, and homes the bricks build are also genderless, they appeal to boys and girls. "Girl sets" don't need to be bright pink, I have never in all my life met a woman who would willingly drive a pink car or live in a pink house. Little girls don't mind, but I feel like they like the idea of actually driving or piloting a plane WAY more than just being inside a pink machine. I'm on board with adding more female figures to sets so the girls can have more fun and collectors can have a more varied LEGO population. I want to see a LEGO theme where the main hero of the story is a chick, and not a princess or fairy, I mean a cool chick like Francesca Cook (Franky) from Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. Oh yeah, and all you parents out there, please stop giving your little girls pink things to play with! -
(Disclaimer: All characters in these scenes are at least 18 years old ) Sometimes it's great not remembering what happened in a movie, for example, I don't remember what the hell happened in any of the star wars movies, so I don't know exactly why all the clones switched to the dark side and our beloved Amazoness-Shakira, er, I mean Aayla Secura had to die LOL. Anyway, I think it's funny that even though the clones and Jedi fought shoulder to shoulder, they so heartlessly began slaughtering each other at the drop of a hat. What happened? They're all chummy one second and then BLAM! Blaster to the head! Oh, and are all Stormtroopers the clones? Before: After: ----- Before: After: ----- Before: After: I have to sympathize with the clones though, when you've been longing for your sexy half-naked Jedi general for that long, knowing you will NEVER have a shot at her, I'd go crazy too! (I'm talking about Aayla, pervs xD) (And yes, I know that's a stormtrooper, not a clonetrooper, it's all I have right now) Thanks for the info Dusty! :)

There's a Lens Flare effect in Photoshop called "Movie Prime", I think that's what he used. I don't like the lines either but I'm sure they serve a purpose I can't appreciate!

None of the current minifgs have me salivating... they're mostly kinda "meh". I want characters that aren't made yet, Darth Talon, Quinlan Vos...
-
Post your engine MOCs, I'd love to see what you can create! Things to keep in mind: -Display only "normal" LEGO engines, not entirely Technic (but go ahead and use Technic pieces) -Can be non-functional or functional -Have fun! You've probably already seen the engine on my spaceship, I went in the opposite direction this time and made an old timey engine, with copper pipes and stuff, lol. Was a little limited because we can't make illegal connections in LDD, but it looks alright. I imagine it would connect to stuff with the two robot arm things in back. I like to make them around these sizes so the minifigs don't look terribly out of scale with them.

Lego Master Building Academy (MBA)
Henchmen4Hire replied to Darth Jar Jar's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This sounds like a spiffy program, but keep in mind that it's for KIDS, so don't be surprised if one of the sets is a lame puppy or something Yeah, you can make $100 after like 2 or 3 days of work at almost any job (like 20 hours of actual labor?), it's not much really, especially if it gives your kid something better to do than torture bugs or be a cannibal or tag walls in the neighborhood. -
Even if it wasn't photoshopped, it's an easy effect to get, nothing inconsistent about it. Focus the camera on the Holocron and set the f-stop to something low enough to only get the holocron and Cad Bane sharp. (Edit: lol, and now I see what you mean about the inconsistency, I adjusted the brightness on my monitor and now I see the rectangle xP) Oh yeah, and Masked Builder, you'll probably want to lower the ISO more next time, there's a lot of "noise" in the dark parts of that pic. Anyway, I'm liking the pics in here :]

Star Wars Miniland to come in LEGOLand California
Henchmen4Hire replied to KimT's topic in LEGO Star Wars
For the record, I think the models kinda suck too (I had high expectations ), not "suck" as in "OMG those things are crap", more like if I was expecting a tasty pie and got a muffin instead, not as satisfying. I saw them and was like, "meh". I like blockiness to a point, like older muscle cars and vans, but it looks bad on those models up close. I'm forgiving because I understand their ultimate purpose is to be seen at a distance. They're pretty from far away so the designers did their job. -
Star Wars Miniland to come in LEGOLand California
Henchmen4Hire replied to KimT's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Judging by how well some of you can detail the flaws in models, I'm surprised you guys aren't working for lego already as a set designer. Have any of you tried to apply? I'd love to see the perfect models you guys can make, so we can tell you how horrible and inaccurate it looks to us That should be the only thing needed to be said, I think. When models like these are made for Legoland, does TLG announce that they will be most detailed incredible sack-burstingly awesome models ever? If not, then I see no reason to complain about them, it's not TLG's fault our expectations are so unreasonably high. If they decided to make Red Sonja out of LEGO I'd be swearing up and down about how they didn't capture the subtlety of her glinting chainmail or the perfect curves of her body -
It was $29.99 plus $9.99 shipping ($40 total) on ebay, the seller has 98% positive, 1100 feedback so I'm confident I'm not gonna get a box full of megabloks :P
-
Finally bought a Star Wars set, the 8088 ARC Fighter NIB (with figs) for for 40 total! Now looking to get the Magnaguard Ship and Grievous's fighter too. I may get a battle pack, I like the orange troopers (bomb troopers?)
-
Without seeing the reference material, I like it, I like blockiness! After seeing the reference material... it needs to be rounder, but considering the size, you did a good job
-
I almost gave it angry brick eyes to make it even MORE MENACING! I recently started watching the Clone Wars cartoons, so that probably had a lot of influence here xD Also finally bought some Star Wars LEGO!
