Thanks! What about if I use NXTs? They are cheaper to buy now. If I remember correctly you can combine max 4 NXT bricks by bluetooth. Is this true? That would be 12 motors. Remaining 6 - can I get them by connecting 3 NXT MMX multiplexers to one of four NXTs. Does every multiplexer need it's own battery box?

[TC5] Crane Truck
LegoDejc replied to LegoDejc's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks to both of you! As a machanical engeneer I always speak with drawings and 3D models, so here is the mechanism. Between tan colored pegs is cylinder which moves otriggers. The red beams are also guided round and round, which isn't shown here. MajklSpajkl: as you see I used almost all bricks available. I guess this was the main draw for this competition, for builder to show how inventive one can be. So, I was jumping between functionality and aesthetics, and decided for functionality first. Actually, with only one more red beam of 15 length, the weakness look would vanish. With all the respect for lego builder of original set, also there I had the first impression that log loader is a bit weak. But now my opinion is that this set is one of the best in years, especially because it uses pneumatics, which I absolutely adore. -

This is my Crane Truck made from set 8049: Tractor with Log Loader. I found out about this contest a bit late. I worked really hard for the last two weeks, every day from 3 to 4 hours. Leftover parts: 22 It features following functions: -Steering of front wheels by rotating cog wheel on the back of truck. -Stabilisers which are moved outwards by pneumatic cylinder. -Pneumatically moved crane. -Both pneumatic functions are operatable inside second cabin. Pump is positioned on back below truck. -Second section of boom is operatable by light above second cabin. -Lifting rope with a clutch. -Manually rotated crane. -Openable doors on main cabin. -
Models for 2H of 2011
LegoDejc replied to menad's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I dont know about you but for me Unimog is even better than excpected. The orange color, pf plus pneumatic, new tyres, authenticity, playability... It's just too much. This one is not so bold as the excavator and will go more with the 'safe' way. But for me it is already one of the TOP technic models. I also look at it as a spiritual succesor of the 8868. Very well done technic designers, very well! Can't wait for it. -

I think that with Unimog we have very big chance to get pf controled pneumatics. This makes sense about price being bigger than for usual flagship. Wishes... -

Interview with LDD Development Mgr
LegoDejc replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
By reading the interview I feel very optimistic about future of LDD. It seems that in time we will have better and better software. I am also glad that they listen for our wishes and that there is a will for optimising. -
LDD 4 is released!
LegoDejc replied to Daedalus304's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Hi LDD fans. I am wondering for a while now if it is possible to get some other 'filter bricks by boxes' ? I kind of expected that we would get some more in LDD4, but there are all the same filters as there were on version 3. Any ideas how to do it? I make myself an improvisation of filter by looking to Bricklink on a perticular set and manually putting all the bricks into working area, which is very time consuming and unpractical. -
LDD Design Challenge #5
LegoDejc replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I like this kind of challenges very much. My way would be like shown below. :) Is it possible by some other principle? -
For the competition I decided to build my own alternative model of 8258 Crane Truck, because there a lots of interesting and useful bricks. First thing that I came up was a telescopic handler. I was building simultaneously with real and virtual bricks, and by that I was improving final look and functionality. I strongly encourage this type of building. Functions: 1. Driving 2. Steering of all four wheels 3. Lifting/lowering of hand 4. Lifting/lowering of telescope 5. Rotating of forks 6. Lifting/lowering of stabilizers Weight: LDD Manager says 0,9kg Nr. Of pieces: aprox 1200, 16 elements of those are added to 8258 set: - 3x M motor - 2x Receiver - 1x Battery Box - 1x Remote - 1x 12t gear, thin - 2x 20t gear, wide - 1x 24t gear - 1x worm gear - 1x small rubber wheel (Bricklink label: 7) - 1x Driving ring - 1x axe length 4, with stopper - 1x steering wheel In LDD I made some custom parts which are not in database. I will also provide a list of things to be considered if someone decides to build this model (which parts were improvised, rotated differently like they should be in real model, etc.). I found some glitches in program which I will post to the right spot on forum, other than that it is a pure pleasure to build even now - what will we get in LDD4, can’t wait! With steering wheel I can change the clutch to have steering or lifting of stabilizers. Stabilizers can lift the vehicle with ease. With handle on the hand I can switch from telescopic moving to rotating of forks. BTW: Do you notice anything unusual on the looks of the vehicle? :) I tried to make at least one new Technic combination never seen, but I think I actually found two. First of the 'new' things is transfering torque with rubber wheel (BL nr.: 7) to the Driving ring. I made shaft from smooth straight connectors (BL nr.: 6538c) connected with 2L axes. By this I can rotate forks on any of the heights of telescope. Second 'new' thing is moving of the telescope with knob, which moves correctly distanced pins. Let pictures say everything else. :) LDD BRICKS: REAL BRICKS: PS: LXF is 229KB - feel free to download it from my Brickshelf folder: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=437223

LDD Design Contest Discussion thread
LegoDejc replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
One more question, maybe an obvious one, but I don't find it written anywhere (or I mislooked?). Is it ok to put pictures from LDD in PNG, which is LDD's native screenshot format? Because a lot of quality is lost when transforming to JPG/JPEG. I see that entries frome others are both JPG and PNG. I understand that pictures made from MOCs should be JPEG, but how about pictures from LDD? -
Supercar
LegoDejc replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I like your car very much Zblj! Changing of the roof rocks! It does not have to be that stylish like Crowkiler's, it is your style of building - I would found out that YOU built it even if you didn't put your name beside it. I think that this counts much more.
