  1. A small wave of system sets based on the film would have made so much sense - the Mario Bros. van, an assortment of karts for the various characters, and so on. I can’t express how disappointing it is that Lego chose not to capitalise on this. The course builder sets are apparently intended to run up until 2025/26 (as per one of the moderators on the ‘Legoleak’ subreddit), so minifigure sets are not in the pipeline at all. Having a small wave to coincide with the film would’ve been a nice way to deviate from the play pattern if only for once, and then allow the course builder system to resume from this summer onwards again. It’s a big disappointment and (ignoring the quality of the film itself) I doubt an opportunity like this will ever come up again for the foreseeable future.
  2. I definitely echo that the increased focus on buildable figures and objects isn’t necessarily the best idea. In moderation, any non minifigure-based set has a certain novelty to it (e.g. Infinity and Nano Gauntlets), and it certainly speaks to Lego’s versatility as a play system that so many different types of product can be developed with the same assortment of pieces. However, once these start becoming more and more common, it upsets the balance and diversity of this theme in general. Saying that, I’m curious as to whether buildable objects and figures are produced in place of minifigure sets, or whether they’re intended to be their own thing to supplement the existing product portfolio. If it’s the latter, then fine. But if it’s the former where minifigure-scaled sets are eschewed in favour of buildable objects / figures, that’s where it starts to become frustrating. Still, nothing will confound me more than that buildable Sorting Hat leak from Harry Potter!
  3. On the topic of ToD, Hasbro revealed another Adventure Series wave that amalgamates figures from Temple of Doom and Dial of Destiny. One of the figures is hypnotised Indy from ToD (including that horrific looking cup!), and the buildable relic for the wave is the skull altar to hold the stones. What we saw of the cancelled ToD set was beyond tame in comparison.
  4. Baylan, Shin, and Elsbeth in the larger Ahsoka set? I’m still in awe that Lego are going this far to cover the show with three sizeable sets, I’m so glad. The trailer looks incredible. With the show releasing in August, I wonder how likely it is for Lego to bump up the sets to release a month earlier than planned? Also quite excited about the future of this theme with all those film announcements!
  5. What a great trailer! If we did end up getting four sets for the film as was initially speculated, they probably would’ve been along the lines of: - Tuk-tuk Pursuit - Voller’s Plane - Greek Tomb Discovery (just imagine the play features!) - Train Chase Pretty much covers the major action scenes we’ve seen in the trailers. The Apollo 11 Parade is also a set contender, but wouldn’t be as interesting in my opinion. Ah well!
  6. Damn that Fang Fighter vs. TIE Interceptor set is beautiful. It really speaks to the quality of both models that I don’t even care about the minifigure selection being lacklustre. Not only is the exterior design of both ships excellent, but the cockpits are detailed too! I’m a sucker for well designed cockpits, it just helps with the immersion of the ship - even with simple details like translucent cheese slopes to represent consoles, instrumentation panels, etc. Solid set all around. Shame about the lack of rotating wings for the Fang Fighter, but I’ll attribute that towards the constraints of the set’s price point and piece budget rather than a lack of attention to detail. Heck, I’m even softening up towards the new darksaber mould. It’s not perfect, but it gets the job done. Anyone heading to Celebration? I’ll be there for all four days and can’t wait.
  7. Lizard’s omission is definitely disappointing, but as the least developed villain of them all I’m not overly bothered about it. Similarly Ned / MJ / Doctor Strange not being included isn’t so bad either for me. However, the set’s Spider-Man figures better be worth the wait. That’s the one time Lego can’t afford to skimp out on printing for minifigures, and getting alternative head pieces for all three Peters would be so great. Similarly I hope Goblin’s design captures just how cool his on-screen look is during the climax of the film. With the newer leaks, this means there are no remaining set numbers for a second NWH set right?
  8. Apologies if this was already raised (don’t think it has been), but has anyone read the Stonewars article on the summer wave? It looks like the NWH set will have 6 minifigures instead of 9, so the three Peters, Green Goblin, Electro, and Doc Ock.
  9. I’d love to see that, maybe at the Justifier’s price point. @ArrowBricks No joke, outside of UCS Chewbacca, the mechs, and Yoda’s Starfighter, I’m poised to buy all the August / September sets. They all sound pretty great. I really hope there’s more to the unknown Ahsoka set though, than just some generic New Republic ships and pilots.
  10. I feel exactly the same way. I remember when the Summer 2021 set list leaked out, and it sounded incredible. But then the Havoc Marauder was completely botched, Gideon’s Cruiser was underwhelming, Gauntlet had design flaws, etc. At least the minifigures were great. Trepidation about shortcuts being taken with sets and some minor qualms with some of the decisions made aside, this summer wave sounds like a dream come true. It may have more than a few remakes as @BrickBob Studpants points out, but they’re all quite relevant in terms of popular media at least.
  11. It’s probably the first time Hasbro are more on the ball than Lego are. Usually it’s the other way around.
  12. At this point we are the proverbial Irina Spalko and Promobricks are the Akator aliens. We want to knoooow. I’m surprised that even LAN personnel were given such half baked information from Lego on this line. I’m just happy that the sets themselves are pretty damn good for the most part. I would’ve liked to see some new minifigure moulds beyond just the hair / hat piece, but that’s no dealbreaker by any means. Pretty sure we’ll be getting a new DoD trailer over the weekend at Star Wars Celebration, exciting! We can all ruminate on potential sets that could have been. At this point, I’d even take a single Lego Store exclusive set that contains the main characters of the film like Helena, Voller, and old Indy.
  13. Yeah that’s right. Same piece but new print. The X-Wing looks way better when the S-foils aren’t in attack position. Pass for me but a decent UCS set overall.
  14. This will definitely be the deciding factor in whether or not I go for the Venator. I know a case can be made that the UCS ISD never contained any microscale TIE Fighters or anything, but in the Venator’s case its capability to deploy ships from the central hangar doors has always been constantly highlighted in media and is a large part of the ship’s appeal. Just imagine being able to swoosh some microscale Jedi Starfighters around the main model, that would be awesome! On the topic of Rex, we know Lego will obviously be including him in a System scale set within the next year, but the question is what could it be? The fact that we’re getting a Gunship and the Swamp Speeder set, not to mention the January battle pack, really only leaves his Y-Wing. Also not sure if this was brought up already or not, but the Ahsoka figure from the new show doesn’t have a new montrail piece according to the Reddit user that’s been giving out info over the last few days. I’m glad the figure will have arm printing / new prints on the headpiece etc. but I still feel really disappointed about this? We’ve been receiving so many new moulds this year for various characters, Ahsoka really needed one IMO.
  15. I mean, there’s something certainly off about this theme right? Not the quality of the sets themselves, which we can agree are all fantastic in their own right (the largest especially being an easy contender for one of the best sets made in recent history), but more so everything around them. The way these sets were revealed / announced, the absurdly decent pricing in most countries that doesn’t typically follow the pattern of overpriced licensed sets, the lack of sets for the film actually releasing this year, ToD being cancelled, the poor communication with LAN members, I could go on and on. I could ascribe to the idea that Lego really just did want to push these sets out and call it a day. Perhaps a larger launch was planned at some point to include Dial of Destiny, but things clearly fell through and the lack of succinct information up to date indicates they’re not very confident to share the full story. It’s just odd that the relationship between Lego and Lucasfilm has been so strong for about 24 years now, but they still handled a Lucasfilm property like this. What’s sadder is that given recent developments with Disney, this really will be the last window for Lego producing Indiana Jones sets - and if DoD turns out to be a great film, it’ll make the absence of a tie-in wave even more pronounced. Ah well, I’m glad Star Wars is killing it this year at least. Also, is everyone receiving two copies of the new hat/hair mould with their sets? I’m wondering if that’s across the board or not.
  16. Yeah that’s it, should’ve specified - my bad!
  17. @Classic_Spaceman Yeah I completely agree. I seriously hoped would get Lego coverage, but hey there’s always next year. @Matichado Bear in mind the Reddit leaker is providing information based on the official parts inventories they’ve been able to see. It’s hard to glean wider context from that sort of information.
  18. Seems odd that the larger Ahsoka set (or technically, second largest set now) would just be generic New Republic vehicles and characters. I’m sure there’ll be more to it even if it’s not evident from the parts inventories the leaker had access to. But saying that, the Fang Fighter vs TIE Interceptor set is absolutely nothing special in terms of minifigures. Ahsoka’s timeline placement means that ‘Inquisitor’ is one of the villains for the show and isn’t really an inquisitor at all - no spoilers there by the way, just facts. If I had to speculate, the figure sounds like This really is an unbelievable summer wave, I’m still in denial to some degree even though some of the choices made seem questionable. In any case, this certainly offsets the doom and gloom February initially brought about!
  19. It’s not just Lego at this point. Even with that Micro Galaxy Squadron line that’s currently running (which has already had ~7 LAAT/i toys already over the past 6 months alone), the ships only ever include one pilot rather than two. Ironically this at least is still better than what Lego is doing.
  20. Could be anything I guess! If it is based on that TWS scene, I do hope we get the shield piece in the blue / white colour scheme, even if it’s not technically accurate to the scene.
  21. I just realised that in the Winter Soldier film, there is technically a bike ‘chase’ scene when Steve escapes S.H.I.E.L.D headquarters and gets run down by that Quinjet, he’s even wearing the Stealth Suit in that scene. Could that be what the smaller summer Infinity Saga set is loosely based on? With Black Widow and potentially the Winter Soldier thrown in for desirability, the set could even be paired up with the January Quinjet set to enact the full scene.
  22. Pretty much. Promobricks have said that retailers can’t order any DoD sets and this has been corroborated by some reliable people on Reddit as well. At this rate, it seems like it’s not so much the DoD sets being cancelled, but that there weren’t any planned to begin with.
  23. Yeah that’s right. The Shuttle may have been overpriced but getting blind Kanan AND Thrawn in that set was great at the time.
  24. I suspected this was all legitimate, imagine the uproar if they’d have been fake! My thoughts: - Gunship: Very happy we’re getting it this year and the minifigure selection is pretty great, however given the nature of this vehicle, a couple of more clones and perhaps even a Jedi character would’ve been gladly received, especially at this price point. - Swamp Speeder: 332nd is a very odd choice, but it’s cool to get Vaughn and his troops for Siege of Mandalore Ahsoka to command. A Swamp Speeder is an odd vehicle to pair them with, but I’m not complaining. - The Ghost: Going by piece count, this is going to be a beefy ship and I’m sure it’ll be well designed. I’m not feeling so hot on the minifigure selection, but that’s fine because of the other Ahsoka sets. - T6: Called it! Makes sense to keep this as the smaller Ahsoka set given most of it is just the wingspan. Getting Huyang is AWESOME, and I pray Ahsoka comes with arm printing and a new mould. Surely Lego know by now how oversized and unwieldy that Shaak-Ti montrail piece is. - UCS Venator: Wow wow wow, can’t believe this is happening. Might just be the first non-minifigure scaled UCS I buy! I would love it if the centre of the ship opens up to show the hangar bay that runs across the centre of the ship along with some micro build vehicles. Rex will obviously be in a smaller set next year, so I hope his Y-Wing could still happen. - Fang Fighter vs. TIE Interceptor: Bummed out that the minifigures are so basic, but I’d rather they’d save budget for the Ahsoka sets anyway, The builds are beautiful though, so will definitely buy. This is a hell of a year for the theme, and at this point there’s no denying the coverage both Clone Wars and Return of the Jedi are receiving to tie in with their anniversaries. It also seems like Lego is going all out by dedicating 3 pretty large sets to the Ahsoka show, which is great! It’s a shame to see Bad Batch and Jedi: Survivor getting shafted, but the lineup is solid.
  25. We shall watch that Redditor’s career with great interest, he’s been on the ball for a while! But yeah, damn shame. Dial of Destiny is going be a great film and we’ll unfortunately be missing out on some good set ideas. What we ended up getting is pretty solid by all accounts though, in terms of content and value for money. Literally, all I would change would be a new mould for Henry Sr. (and obviously the ToD seeing the light of day).
