  1. Cyclops looks pretty much exactly like how I expected him to, decent figure overall. Can’t wait for pictures of the X-Jet and NWH set!
  2. Count me in as someone also satisfied with Lego’s clone trooper output. The thing with clones is that there’s always going to be another legion that will have fans clamouring for it - though I can understand the demand for characters like Wolffe, Bly etc. who aren’t ‘1 second of screen time’ levels of obscure. From a TCW point of view, more than anything I’d just love to see Anakin and Obi-Wan from the earlier seasons with arm-printing and new hairpieces. Surely if Mace got such updates…
  3. Breaking up the shades of green is a subtle yet significant improvement, nicely done. Glider mod looks good too, although ironically I feel like the original face print is the best aspect of the minifigure. Just wading into the MCU quality discussion briefly, but I definitely agree things have been incredibly shaky post-Endgame. Some diamonds in the rough - NWH, Loki, etc. but my investment is at an all-time low. Saying that, there’s no denying content critique in this day and age is far harsher than it was pre-Endgame; even the ‘worst’ Infinity Saga film are still considered to be decent at worst, those very same films would be critically torn to shreds in 2023. Not surprised that Ronan just uses the post-2019 hood piece. Lego Marvel as a whole has been quite stingy with new moulds as of late. Ignoring the CMFs which get their own budgets anyway, I think the only real new figure mould we’ve had this year is bigfig Hulk’s hair? Also, finally built this year’s Quinjet and I love it. Couldn’t afford the original as a kid and this is an upgrade in pretty much every way. Would’ve paid £10-20 more for a more detailed interior and Hawkeye but honestly beyond those and the gap for the rear landing gear, the set is perfect for me. I want to see more of these sub-£100 ‘vehicle’ sets with the same value for money.
  4. Same here! Holding off on buying the NWH Final Battle until this set also releases (gah, the half-assed Green Goblin figure still bothers the hell out of me). Really excited to see the X-Jet too though the ridiculously small piece count concerns me. Unlikely as it is, I do hope the leaks about the Spidey and Electro figures just being reuses from the Final Battle set aren’t true. Avengers Tower looks great, however I agree with the sentiment that it looks quite sparse and hollow inside. For a set this expensive and large, I’d have expected less of a sparse interior, though it’s appreciated that a lot of pieces have gone into just achieving the overall shape and structure of the building itself.
  5. The logic is sound, but this also makes me think of examples like Mando S2. The ‘spoiler’ sets for the season released less than a year after the show aired. Overall, I think the distinction lies in whether or not Lego’s first exposure to certain things for the first time is on the big / small screen (No Way Home and Luke’s appearance in Mando S2 come to mind, though outside of his appearance the Light Cruiser set is more or less fully accurate to the finale). I know there’s that Brick Fanatics article on Mando S3 from earlier this year that mentions the LSW Design Team’s reaction to the finale, but it doesn’t strike me as them necessarily saying they saw all this stuff for the first time when we as consumers did. Plus, given the June release date for the spoiler Mando S3 sets coupled with the usual 18-24 month turnover time to conceptualise and produce a set (plus the litany of new moulds we’re supposedly getting in those two spoiler sets), it seems likely the LSW design team were given material to work with prior to April 2023. Tying back to Ahsoka, we’ve already seen from Funko and Hasbro that toys based on Enoch, the Night Troopers, and Thrawn are already pipelined. I’m sure these characters weren’t completely withheld from licensees until everyone saw them during the spoiler episodes of the show. But hey, when it comes to Lego, who knows? I’m rambling a lot of words to basically reiterate for the thousandth time how much I’d love more sets from the show lol.
  6. Righty-o, time to delete Discord after all that chaos. @Classic_Spaceman, kudos for trying to keep track of it all during the weekend, it’s much appreciated. Now that we ‘know’ the Temple and Z-95 are completely false, the summer wave therefore remains completely unknown. Extremely bummed out that the Chimaera ‘leak’ was completely fake, but joke’s on me after what we’ve seen this weekend. I do wonder how many of the reputable leakers know what’s coming next August.
  7. Looks like multiple sets based on the Acolyte are due next summer based on the Legoleak discord server (Source: Itsjustajoe). Jedi Vector pls pls pls pls
  8. On Discord, both the dude who first broke the news of the Z-95 on Discord as well as @itsjustajoe are indicating there’s no Ahsoka stuff for next year. Not going to lie, it’s a huge bummer, but hey at least the other sets are sounding good.
  9. For sure. As much as the dual moulded helmets can look quite funky, they definitely pop more than helmets where Lego relies on printed detail to make up for the lack of moulded detail. Still reeling from these Mando Season 3 set leaks, the battle pack and bunker sound like excellent choices all in all - wouldn’t be surprised if the bunker gives the same impression as Battle on Scarif / Battle on Takodana, albeit with a smaller piece count. As the Z-95 hasn’t been corroborated by any of the main sources we know, I’ll approach it with a pinch of salt. However, if set names for the August wave are indeed floating around, hopefully the rest are soon to follow. If we can get this many retrospective sets for Mando, I’m hoping at least the Chimaera is on the cards for Ahsoka.
  10. It’s a double-edged sword IMO. Stormtrooper helmets are so goofy looking, whilst the scout trooper ones are perfection. Feels like there’s always a 50/50 chance with dual-moulded helmets either looking great or awful, so I’ll always be trepidatious when it comes to them.
  11. This is insanely good news! Probably the first micro fighter that will sell out immediately. I sound so ungrateful saying this, but I really wish this could’ve been a play-scale set though.
  12. This is some absolutely incredible work @Mandalorianknight, really nice job! Would love to see these as real Lego sets, can’t decide on my favourite here but that Acclamator is simply something else. Looking forward to seeing more of your work in the future.
  13. Solid Brix Studios has uploaded this year’s Lego Star Wars Designer Panel event on his channel. Quite an interesting watch and it was very Clone Wars-focused. In other news, Hot Toys have revealed their Grand Admiral Thrawn figure and Hasbro have announced an Enoch / Night Trooper multipack for the Vintage Collection. If a Chimaera isn’t on the cards next summer, I’m sure something like an Imperial Gunship will be forthcoming just to close out Lego’s coverage of Ahsoka.
  14. Yeah sounds like the usual ‘speculation packaged as fact’ non-proven YouTubers are known for espousing. If we do get the Y-Wing, it would make more sense to base it on the Bad Batch rather than TCW’s finale IMO. Just opens up more possibilities. Outside of Jesse, characters like Ahsoka, Maul, the 332nd, and 501st are all readily available as it stands anyway. Conversely basing it on TBB allows for the potential reuse of the main crew (outside of Hunter) who we haven’t seen since 2021, as well as introducing more interesting minifigures especially if it’s based on the Bracca episodes. To be honest, outside of Tech and Wrecker who are more or less perfect, the other members of the Bad Batch could seriously use a do-over. Also, the new wave of Funko Pops based on Ahsoka have been revealed. Thrawn, Enoch, and the Night Troopers are all there, but interestingly Ezra is not. Hopefully we get some more stuff from the show from Lego and Hasbro next year
  15. Rex’s Y-Wing has been on my wishlist since TCW’s finale, hopefully it’s something like that.
  16. I think the appeal behind most Star Wars sets that aren’t just <grey polygon> is they can objectively look appealing regardless of what they’re based on, although really that can be said for any Lego set. Even if Andor doesn’t have the appeal towards younger audiences or THR lacks the pull because it’s still mostly a publishing initiative (though The Acolyte will change that paradigm), something like a Cavern Angels X-Wing with Saw / Two-Tubes etc. or a Jedi Vector with some characters in the white / gold High Republic livery will certainly look fantastic on shelves. The scope of Star Wars content is ever-expanding for better or worse, but it’s at least growing at a rate that doesn’t just seem as unsustainable as, say, the MCU. We’ve certainly seen that Lego had a learning curve with the way they’ve been investing more and more sets in the TV shows. Little back on topic, but given we’re learning quite a lot of information for 1HY24 now, I wonder if it’s at all likely to learn what’s coming next summer fairly soon - can’t say I’m keen to wait until February onwards for the first rumours to drop. I need at least a couple more Ahsoka sets damn it.
  17. A sample size of 2 doesn’t really say much but overall, it seems like each 25th Anniversary minifigure is from a popular / relevant piece of non-saga SW Media? Fives = The Clone Wars Malak = KotoR If this trend also continues into the Summer lineup, I can see one minifigure appearing from Rebels, Fallen Order / Survivor, etc. On top of that it seems like these would be minifigures that can’t be readily slotted in to their own sets, so to speak.
  18. What is actually going on lol, these sound great. Saying that though, I’m more into System scaled sets so I shall eagerly await tidings of what’s in the summer wave. The midi-scale Invisible Hand having a hangar for Jedi Starfighters sounds interesting. The UCS Venator can barely include a tiny Gunship after all, and that gives waaaaay more leeway with scale given the set’s size.
  19. Can’t believe we’re getting Fives, wow! Arguably one of the most important clone characters as without him, Rex would’ve succumbed to Order 66 without resistance. Place your bets everyone, will Lego introduce a new ARC Trooper helmet? It has that fin on top unlike the regular P2 helmets. There’s that beautiful ARC Trooper we saw in 2012, which still remains one of the best Lego Star Wars minifigures of all time.
  20. The show makes some odd choices and I somewhat wish there was more to the ending, but I’d also be lying if I said I didn’t feel satisfied with the conclusion. Of course there’s an emotional attachment that I suppose comes from my love of TCW / Rebels but even so, I just appreciate the heart that this show has. I really am placing a lot of hope in next summer for more spoiler sets.
  21. No I agree, the Ahsoka sets are some of the best we’ve had since the Rogue One wave. I was just pointing to the way Lucasfilm stagger what they show to prevent spoilers is all. I do hope Lego maintains this sort of quality moving into 2024. @Alex_South I don’t think Lucasfilm do this just because of Lego stuff leaking here and there. You can see the consistency in the overall toys Lego and Hasbro put out for a given show when it releases, they’re all exposed to the same set of reference material. We’ve seen it for Ahsoka, Mando S3, Kenobi, etc. Also, I totally agree that an updated Clone Wars Anakin and Obi-Wan are much needed now, especially with arm printing like last year’s Mace Windu. Apologies for going off topic. It’s a shame to see the Skeleton Crew ship being delayed, but better to synchronise it with when the show releases. Betting the Acolyte will probably see a set as well and given the time period it’s set in, a Jedi Vector in Lego form would be incredible!
  22. It’s a big Lucasfilm problem. I suppose we get this with Marvel too. They’ll pump out safe and non-spoilery concept art towards licensees for what I call ‘merchandise for the sake of merchandise’. It’s all just to have something on the shelves to tie in with a given piece of media, doesn’t matter how popular the source episodes are expected to be. Mando S3 is a strong example of this, but with Ahsoka we’re lucky that at least a few of the ships and characters we’ve gotten in Lego form have had longstanding popularity and presence throughout all the episodes so far. Part of why the Mando Season 2 wave of 2021 worked so well is because the sets were based on popular scenes. As long as that also happens with Season 3 as well as Ahsoka next summer, we’re good. It’s just such a big shame that things that would make for such excellent merchandise manifest an incredibly long time after the show they’re from has ended.
  23. I think we’re underestimating just how far off Filoni’s movie still is - 3 years seems wildly optimistic. As far as we know, the New Jedi Order film is coming first and Mando S4 hasn’t even started proper development due to the strikes. Overall though, I can’t see the Eye of Sion being chosen as a set over the Chimaera, it’s ultimately just a giant ring. @The Stud You’re onto something with how the Summer 2024 wave might turn out. Given the reduction in content we’ll be getting, it’s the perfect opportunity for some more Mandalorian and Ahsoka sets. If we do get more Ahsoka variants, I hope Lego can finally give her a poncho / cloak. It’s such an integral part of her live-action look at this point.
  24. Yup I agree, I can definitely see the Chimaera being approached in a similar way to Gideon’s Cruiser in that it contains a suite of ‘big’ named characters and perhaps 1-2 of the army builder troopers. If the Chimaera does happen, it’ll be the first system-scale Star Destroyer that’ll require a fully fleshed out underside just to host the chimaera pattern, curious to see how Lego would tackle that if they do indeed make it. Also @BrickBob Studpants I’m salivating at the idea of a location-based set based on the Mando S3 finale with all those characters! As much as I didn’t love the season, that’s a set I’d buy on day 1. Shame we have to wait a year before the really good stuff will come out - really that’s my only contention with the cadence of Lego Star Wars releases in this day and age.
  25. What are the chances that Lego will write off more Ahsoka sets because they’ve already dedicated two large and one mid-size set to the show? Pretty low I’m assuming, given how they handled Season 2 and 3 of the Mandalorian which both received follow-up sets. The fact that we’re getting Grogu’s Escape next May raises my hopes that we do indeed get at least 1-2 more sets from Ahsoka in August / September. I can’t imagine Lego sleeping on the characters, ships, and locations we’re introduced to with every episode, especially with Part 6. Which leads into another question, do we know how Lego first gains visibility of the more spoilery aspects of a Disney+ show? We know development times for a set usually take up to 2 years, and if Grogu’s Escape is releasing in May, then there’s no way Lego first learned of the scene by watching that Mando S3 episode for the first time. Similarly with the Mando S2 sets which practically dominated the Summer 2021 wave, those was released less than a year after S2 aired. The only exception of course is the Dark Trooper Attack set, but Luke’s involvement in the Season 2 finale was a particularly well kept secret to begin with. I’m guessing Lucasfilm does indeed send follow-up concept art for a show soon after the first batch of non-spoilery material they provide to licensees.
