  1. I love that Venator. As much as I’d like to pick it up, I simply don’t have the space! I was initially disappointed to see the lack of an opening hangar and some more microscale ships, but upon looking at how comparatively tiny the LAAT/i is, it’s hard to see how ships like the Jedi Starfighters etc. would even be handled. It’s a clear a lot of effort went into this set and I sincerely hope it sells well enough. With the glut of Clone Wars-related sets we’ve been getting, I just hope we do finally get Anakin / Obi-Wan in their Season 1 armour next summer, with arm printing for the latter like Mace Windu has. Ahsoka is knocking it out of the park every week. I am once again imploring Lego to release more sets on the show next summer.
  2. Completely, completely agree. Ahsoka doesn’t feel like ‘fast food’ content the way some of the more recent D+ shows have been - sure it’s not perfect, but watching it is a joy and you can see there’s a lot of thought put into it. Obviously in a perfect world we’d get something with the quality of Andor with the more fantastical elements that gives Star Wars that magic, but I digress. Can’t wait for payday to nab all three Ahsoka sets and the Gunship, reviews have me sold on all of them.
  3. Well, 3 episodes in and Ahsoka is officially one of my favourite Star Wars shows right alongside Andor. It’s just ticking a lot of boxes for me. On topic, I am so, so glad that not only have Lego dedicated three large sets towards the show, but also that the builds and minifigures are fantastic also. If any show deserved a wave like this chock full of cool ship designs and new minifigure parts, it’s this. Getting some HK Droids would have been icing on the cake. Can’t help but lament how awesome a T6 Shuttle would have been at the price point of the Justifier or TRoS Millennium Falcon though. I’m really not a fan of great ships like this and the Havoc Marauder being severely compromised by being assigned (relatively) lower price points or having pieces dedicated towards side builds. At the very least, being able to accommodate three figures within the ship should have been the bare minimum. I really hope Lego covers more of this show next summer, there’s so much goodness in it and this is barely scratching the surface.
  4. T-6 minifigures are beautiful (Sabine really could have used arm printing given how colourful her armour pieces are, but it’s no dealbreaker). However, I do lament how some really good Star Wars ships get downsized beyond relief these days - it’s unacceptable that you can’t even fit two minifigures in this thing. Glad Micro Galaxy Squadron will be releasing their own T-6 next year. Gunship looks solid, definitely a downgrade from the previous one but I like it enough. The lack of minifigures is ridiculous though.
  5. What are the Marvel team actually smoking to have this theme be dominated by buildable figures and extremely overpriced system sets? When the set list was first revealed last week, my mind immediately jumped to the 2019 Ultimate Quinjet, 2021 Benatar, and 2023 Quinjet as setting a precedent for the type of the model the X-Jet could be (super displayable with ample interior and swooshability). It’s beyond a joke. I sincerely hope the Lizard being a buildable element in the NWH expansion set isn’t true. Given the details we’ve received so far, I’m envisaging something like the 2019 Molten Man set but with a buildable Sandman in its place, along with Electro, inside-out Spidey, and Lizard minifigures. On a less whiny side - I saw the NWH set built at a Lego store today and was positively surprised at how good it looks in person in terms of build and minifigures. I’ll be waiting another 4 months to buy this with the second NWH set, but kudos to the set designers for what will hopefully be an all-time best seller for this year.
  6. Personal bias at work here but a Tears of the Kingdom theme would have been so much cooler. There are so many set pieces in the game that would make for amazing Lego sets. But hey, at least the Great Deku Tree is still coming. I’m glad we’re getting another Nintendo theme though, and that this one isn’t just gimmick-driven. Even if New Horizons is a couple of years old, people will flock to these sets I’m sure.
  7. Welp, there goes my excitement for the Blackbird. It has even less pieces than the buildable figures! Not to mention the Captain America set having a pitiful piece count too. We all thought value for money with the Hoopty was a one-off fever dream, but alas it seems like this is the new pricing strategy moving forward.
  8. The Gunship definitely isn’t what I expected as a follow up to a beloved set 10 years in the making, too many shortcuts. But for what it is? I actually really like it, and all the mini figures look splendid IMO. Only contention is a set of this size (and type) needing more minifigures, pilots especially. The UCS TIE Interceptor is a solid choice, but continues the trend of boring May UCS sets for me that began with the Landspeeder. I can’t imagine this won’t sell like hotcakes though. As always, I can’t wait to hear about what next summer holds, that’s where the really good stuff will be.
  9. Dude, same here. Watching Lilo & Stitch for the first time is one of my core memories! I really hope he’s done justice. If the quality is anywhere near the level we saw with Simba leak, then we’re in good hands.
  10. Wow, that lineup is actually pretty great for the most part! These buildable figures must really be selling if they keep pumping them out at breakneck pace though. With the X-Men Blackbird, I hope the overall build reflects the fantastic quality we’ve seen with the Avengers Quinjets and Guardians of the Galaxy ships (Vol. 3 sets notwithstanding). I can’t believe this is happening! And another NWH set, brilliant! I knew they wouldn’t omit Lizard for no reason after all. I might hold off on the Statue of Liberty set until this releases and then buy both. Glad NWH fans are eating well. My only pet peeve is the continued abundance of more useless Spidey vehicles in place of tie-ins to the currently games and ATSV, but it is what it is.
  11. Same here! But then we still have the summer. I just feel like a set with Thrawn, Ezra etc. is inevitable. The set list for 1HY24 is quite exciting! Can’t say many of these interest me, but I’m looking forward to Grogu’s Escape and the Skeleton Crew ship!
  12. If I had a penny for every time something leaks out ahead of a formal reveal. Outside of Hawkeye’s inaccurate hair colour (mould looks great though), both he and Kate look awesome! And looking at the packaging, that Moon Knight is definitely my most anticipated figure.
  13. Oh wow you’re completely right, don’t know what I was thinking! In that case yes, we need M O R E. Hopefully we get the Gunship revealed by the end of this week. Frustrating to stagger the reveal of sets that release on the same day.
  14. Can’t believe we’re already getting 2024 rumours before even seeing the Gunship (that thing has to be revealed any day now surely). Not sure how I feel about yet another Clone Battle Pack, however I’m sure Lego will find some means to make it appealing. Similarly the YJA Ship looks like a marvellous idea for a Lego set, however I hope that doesn’t mean a $60 spot isn’t being eaten up by a 4+ set. Going to try my luck here but here goes. @Renown Any indication of further Ahsoka sets in the pipeline? D+ shows don’t usually get follow-up waves but I’m crossing all appendages that an exception is made for this show in particular.
  15. Love how we’re all planning to blow some crazy money on the Venator without actually knowing how we’ll display it! Can’t wait to see how it looks and I’m hopeful that we’ll see some manner of small interior compared to the Devastator (ventral hangar aside). Looks like it’ll have some micro-scale Gunships according to Brick Clicker which sounds great. Would’ve loved having some little Jedi Starfighters and Vulture Droids to swoosh around the main set, but they’d need to be so tiny in comparison.
  16. Dune is right up there with the novels of Edgar Rice Burroughs as being one of the fathers of science fiction as we know it today. I cannot believe we’re getting this set, talk about a brilliant way to wrap up the year! Plus with the indication of minifigures and the piece count, this looks to be a minifigure-scaled set which is perfect (give me a highly detailed minifigure scaled version of an iconic vehicle over an oversized display-only piece any day of the week). Agree with you all that the minifigure lineup is based on the scene from the film / book where Paul, Leto, Gurney, and Liet-Kynes go to inspect the Spice Harvesters. I can envisage Jessica, Stilgar, Chani, or even a Harkonnen occupying the fifth slot, but let’s see. Just incredibly happy this is going to be a thing. Lego may have had some missteps this year, but they’ve been smashing it for the most part.
  17. It’s such a spot-on likeness! The expression mimics his face when he’s saying ‘Learn the power to save your wife from certain death’ to Anakin. Love it. I’d argue the most cursed non-CW figure of Palpatine was the 2014 one that came with the Tri-Fighter. 2014 was a really weird year for LSW minifigures in general though, the face prints were overly detailed to the point of looking visceral. Rex looks fantastic and I’m glad his arm printing goes all the way up, but like the rest of you I hate the lack of a cloth kama. It reeks of laziness to just print the thing on. Doesn’t ruin the figure for me, but it’s disappointing nonetheless. As arguably the most popular clone character of them all, I hope he doesn’t stay locked behind a gigantic UCS set for 2 years before making it to a standard set. I’m betting we’ll be seeing Rex’s Y-Wing as a set in the near future.
  18. Haha nice ranking, the Ahsoka content single-handedly boosted Star Wars right up there for me as well. My overall thoughts on Indy are that for the sets we did get, Lego really went all the way for them - with the exception of not giving Henry Sr. an accurate hat, which is of course intolerable. Would it have really been that much of a hassle? Most if not all of us saw it coming from a mile away that Indy’s return this year had a fraction of the fanfare from both the Lucasfilm / license partner side as well as from audiences that we saw in 2008. 2008 was a different beast entirely and being a kid during that era was truly something else. Even if a lot of merchandise eventually hit clearance prices, both Lego and Hasbro delivered on all fronts back then. Hasbro has done a great job for mature collectors with their Adventure Series lineup - pretty much all the major characters from the original films and DoD were covered. If nothing else, it would have been cool if the Lego April wave for Indy was simply bigger by a couple of more sets or so to truly ‘celebrate’ the older films. I’m sure those would’ve sold just as well as the three sets we did see. But again, what we did get is fantastic. Even if Lego played it safe with this lineup, who can deny the value for money? Not to mention Temple of the Golden Idol being ‘up there’ as one of the best Lego sets in recent memory. For what Lego did do, they certainly put the effort in.
  19. Is anyone else absolutely in love with the New Republic pilot helmet? The colour scheme is perfection. Apologies if this is slightly off topic, but the Hasbro reveals from SDCC for Ahsoka have been quite interesting. The new Black Series / Vintage Collection figures for Ahsoka, Sabine (who also includes Ezra’s lightsaber), and Hera are all based on the upcoming show - however interestingly Grand Admiral Thrawn is based on Rebels. Certainly helps to paint a picture of what sort of information Lucasfilm has given out to their license partners for Ahsoka thus far. We don’t usually get multiple waves of sets based on Disney+ content, but I hope this show breaks that tradition. There’s just so much cool stuff in it for anyone who has been following the grapevine Also super pleased that unlike Mandalorian Season 3, Lucasfilm has been more forthcoming about what’s in Ahsoka to their license partners. The overall quality of the tie-in merchandise is just much better IMO. The resurgence of Rebels as a result is also lovely to see, next year marks 10 years of the show and it would be awesome to see the characters reintroduced into Lego form.
  20. Such a cool spaceship with a solid interior! But not worthy of the price by any means. Marvel sets usually aren’t this egregious with the MSRPs so I’m wondering why this call was made. This somewhat reminds me of the 2017 Resistance Transport Pod from Star Wars, that was another spaceship set with a decent interior priced beyond relief.
  21. Both sets are simply amazing! This really does cement the Ahsoka wave as my favourite sets from the theme this year. Far stronger than the Mando S3 ones. T-6 is undersized, but it’s still a great looking ship and it’s great that Sabine comes with both her helmet and hair, and Ezra’s lightsaber! Marrok looks incredibly detailed, and that Ahsoka figure is perfect - the only thing it’s missing is a grey poncho. Also in love with the E-Wing, I appreciate the angles and colour scheme, and the New Republic outfit and helmet are gorgeous. Shin’s ship is equally cool, and the minifigures are solid. I’ve really missed sets like these that are well designed and colourful. I’ve become so fed up of the drab greys we’re used to. Now hopefully the Gunship reveal isn’t far behind.
  22. Thanks for sharing it on the usual place. Glad Huyang has a minifigure body instead of a droid one. The shuttle itself looks pretty awesome, if a little small? The colours are striking though, loving what I see so far. So happy to hear the New Republic ship is indeed an E-Wing! The Ahsoka sets are officially the highlight of this entire year.
  23. This sort of thing looks nice as a MOC, but not as a Lego set. The face looks creepy but the overall statue is a respectable effort and does capture Chewbacca’s shaggy / rugged form. But..I mean come on, really? A £200 set that looks like this? No thank you, just a waste of a slot. On the plus side, Exabricks seems to imply we should be seeing the remaining Ahsoka sets soon, hype levels are entering the Unknown Regions.
  24. This looks like a decent-enough CMF series to be fair, but I can’t say the lineup ‘wows’ me that much. Moon Knight and Mr. Knight are probably my most anticipated as I loved the show -I appreciate the crescent blades and hood are new moulds and they look great - the latter would be perfect for some custom Assassin’s Creed minifigures too. Hawkeye seems to have the Ronin outfit in which case he’ll be a definite buy, and I hope Wolverine has something new to him that warrants a CMF spot. Overall, it’s good enough. Another so-so year for Lego Marvel I’d say.
  25. I’m betting we’ll get official reveals in the next week or so, but agree it would’ve been nice to see some pictures by now. I was expecting a deluge after last week’s Ghost reveal. Hilarious how the August wave releases in 2 weeks but hardly anyone is excited for that.
