  1. It pretty much looks exactly like what I’d expect a downscaled Scimitar to be to be honest, which is to say it’s fine. Whether or not I buy it will depend on whether Darth Maul’s Bloodfin speeder is also included, it’s essential for the scene the set is based on. It’s weird to give Qui-Gon his poncho (makes me hopeful that the Ahsoka the white variant this summer will have one too) but not a hood and cape for Darth Maul. I do think LSW as a theme generally struggles to get ship sizes right though, even within budgetary constraints. Ships that should be small and nimble (e.g. Mando’s N-1, Shin’s Fiend Fighter etc.) are oversized, whilst larger ships are often undersized. Saw looks cool, but I’ll wait for higher quality pictures to form a final opinion. Looks like the Scimitar will have some sort of drop function to plop out those probe droids.
  2. I’ll be interested to see if the Onyx Cinder will be swapped out for some Acolyte sets in for June, especially as Skeleton Crew still hasn’t received a release window anyway. Guess it all depends on how communicative Lucasfilm has been with their license partners. The Acolyte’s June release has been rumoured for the past month or so so I’m sure those in the know would have been aware of this happening far back.
  3. Yeah agreed, I’m just going to pretend that set is some generic Imperial facility that Cal is sneaking into. On the topic of the X-Wing vs. TIE, it presumably being based on ANH really limits the prospects of what the additional minifigures are going to be. Pilots like Biggs and Wedge would make the most sense with some extra tile parts to change the fighter’s callsign, kind of like the 2018 X-Wing.
  4. Excited to see how the Great Hall and Potions Classroom turn out, I’ve already pegged them as must-buys on the potential alone. I do hope that the interiors with this new castle system have some more space and detail put into them compared to how the 2018 and 2021 systems did.
  5. New sets look fun, though IMO Peach’s Castle really merits a massive set. Bowser’s train looks phenomenal and the way his visage is built is really good. I was hoping they’d have revealed the box art so we could get a look at what the new Mario digi-fig is like. Super cool to finally get Mario Kart stuff teased for next year but as always, it’ll be a pass for me because of the scale. I suppose we can surmise that the use of the existing digi-figs in the Mar10 Day video along with the design of the sets themselves means the updated digi-figs won’t be majorly different from the ones we already have. Apologies for spouting the same old same old, but with this theme having gone on for 5 years I really wish Lego could throw us a bone with something minifigure-related. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask for this after the theme has run for as long as it has.
  6. Crazy that both AoU sets were initially rumoured to contain, you know, Ultron, but now neither do. Personally, seems like a miss to base both sets on the opening scene of the film which seems nowhere near as desirable as the climax, but I’m sure the larger set will include those transparent ‘jumping’ pieces from Avengers Tower to recreate that iconic shot with all 6 Avengers. Leviathan should’ve come with Hawkeye as Hulk alone doesn’t do enough to differentiate the minifigure roster from the Quinjet, but I guess they wanted to maintain his exclusivity in Avengers Tower. New cape piece for Thor, yaaay. Looks like that’s where this theme’s yearly mould budget went. Glad for my wallet that the Milano is the only set from this theme I’ll be getting in the summer. I do hope we get Star-Lord’s helmet piece again though. I know Brick Clicker mentioned a Baby Groot but could this be a new potted plant Groot mould rather than the Vol. 2 version? Especially with the set being based on the first film and a buildable potted plant Groot releasing at the same time.
  7. In terms of acting as a soft ‘refresh’ of the theme, this is an excellent set list. It’s cool that the three new starter packs are 10$ cheaper, and introducing rechargeable figures is definitely a sorely needed update. I’d be interested to see what the full scope of updates are to these digi-figs, but suspect it won’t be that extensive if all three characters are being released at the same time. Also, can’t believe this summer makes for 5 years of this theme! Time has been passing weirdly this decade, but it’s a huge milestone for this theme which is clearly going strong.
  8. So technically, Lego can say they covered NWH’s bridge battle sequence! …just via buildable figures though. For what they are they do look pretty nice, I’d definitely pick these up if I was a fan of the buildable figures. I’ll always lament how we couldn’t get a helmeted Green Goblin minifigure, especially now that we’re getting a brick built one.
  9. I’m probably being too harsh but I usually find ‘exploding’ or ‘toppling minifigure’ functions that are present in so many sets really boring, so couldn’t care less for that in this set. However that opening door function with the ‘burned’ edges around the doorway is something I’ll definitely be playing around with more times than I can count. Such an awesome set all round.
  10. YouTube video from Max Baut on the May / June Star Wars sets. If any German speakers here have the time, could anyone translate?
  11. I think one of the r/legoleak moderators confirmed there were 2 planned several months back (during the Z-95 / microscale Jedi Temple rumour period), but may be wrong. If this rumour turns out to be completely bogus, it wouldn’t be the worst thing. We’re already getting a ton of buildable characters with R2, the Droideka, and 3PO, so I hope this set is a more traditional system scale one.
  12. Hopefully the piece count means we’re in for a brilliant Death Star playset. Given the deluge of content and eras Lego Star Wars is working through, it’s cool that they’re still finding ways to slowly get through A New Hope since last year, what with Yavin IV, Tantive IV Boarding, Death Star, and X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter sets. I’m guessing we’ll see an increase in playscale TESB-related sets sooner rather than later once ANH has been covered off.
  13. I concur, thus far 4 of the 5 known anniversary figures are ‘good guys’ (even if Saw toes the line). Makes sense that the hitherto unknown one is an antagonistic character. If we look at the breadth of where these figures originate from: - Animated Shows (TCW) - Live Action Shows (Kenobi) - Disney-era Films (Rogue One) - Video Games (JFO) - Legends / Video Games (KOTOR) The only source medium that we’re missing is books, so I’m wondering if the sixth figure could potentially be a High Republic character. However, we don’t know if there even is a ‘rule’ to cover all types of Star Wars media with these characters, so who knows?
  14. So the Acolyte is supposedly locked in to release this summer. I’m sure there’ll be a Lego set or two to coincide with it? Jedi Vector please!
  15. Thanks, really appreciate it! Given the supposed size of the Death Star set, it being like a ‘mini-MBS’ wouldn’t be surprising at all. Give me a well designed playset with cool features and some verticality to it and I’ll be happy. I can see it being one of the best sets this year even if the minifigure lineup beyond Cal won’t be terribly interesting. Seeing the reviews. Boarding the Tantive IV is a flawless set, I can’t believe how well executed it is! The Invisible Hand is out there too now, nice little touch to have a nanobuild MTT and two studs representing the Eta-2s in the hangar area, no doubt we’ll get some cool 20th anniversary RotS sets next year.
  16. This definitely points to the innate advantage Lego has over other ‘types’ of toys. Outside of needing to produce the occasional new mould / part in a new colour, you can use the same system of bricks and still develop a vast product portfolio; dioramas, helmets, UCS / MBS, system-scale, and now these midi-scale ships. In some ways Lego has it easier than most companies to experiment. All three ships look really good, indeed their footprint is rather small but the ‘density’ and detail is phenomenal. The little interiors in the Falcon and Tantive are a nice touch, and I’m not sure if it’s just the lighting in the lifestyle image but it looks like the hangar area of the Invisible Hand is completely hollow? You can see light shining through the trans-blue ‘shield’ pieces. I’m typically a PT fan over OT when it comes to ship design but of the three models, I most likely will get the Falcon. @ArrowBricks Yeah that makes sense. I can see Infinities Vader being an anniversary figure in the Dark Falcon because the character isn’t actually a villain, unless he’s in the set just as someone for the Dark Falcon crew to fight. The X-Wing vs. TIE I definitely agree should have some surprises in store, because otherwise it’ll be quite boring.
  17. Suavemente soundbrick or we riot. In all seriousness, that would be really cool. Link and Zelda’s TotK outfits that they start the game with are miles better than the BotW ones in my opinion.
  18. “No one’s ever really gone.” For what it’s worth, I agree with the sentiment that the QC problems with clones point to a systematic issue that Lego don’t see as a priority to resolve more than anything else. Sure the helmet printing on Fives is weird, but it was to be expected given the past ~2 years we’ve seen of this. The kama problem merits an actual response in my opinion because it genuinely does impact the quality of the minifigures, one only needs to see customs with kamas to see how much they can elevate a minifigure. Beyond that, I really love the look of Fives. It’s genuinely crazy to think that he, Rex, and a BP full of shinies are all being released within 6 months of each other. The March sets look fantastic, I can’t believe I’m saying this but even R2 is a must buy! Also not sure if I’m being colour blind but is Fives’ rangefinder black? I can’t tell if it’s just the lighting on the box art and lifestyle image. Also - it’s not yet confirmed whether the 4 anniversary figures we know of (Fives / Malak / Cal / Leia / book exclusive figure) are the only ones that are releasing right? The insane quality on Fives and Malak have really elevated my expectations for Cal.
  19. Funnily enough, the latest ATLA trailer dropped today as well… https://youtu.be/ByAn8DF8Ykk?feature=shared Quite a coincidence that a hint of a new Netflix show theme drops the same day, but I guess the girl-centric hint debunks it anyway.
  20. If the set came with more minifigures (especially the BotW Champions) then the price-point would be far more palatable, especially considering that pretty much all of them would require new moulds. But unfortunately I just don’t see that happening, it’s too good to be true. Plus none of these characters are necessarily associated with the Great Deku Tree either. As long as the Link(s) and Zelda minifigures are top-notch and we get a proper Master Sword / Hylian Shield etc. (seriously, Lego can’t possibly cheap out on these) I’ll still buy this, albeit reluctantly. The piece count also seems pretty high at 2500 pieces, which to me seems like a bit too much? The survey leak model isn’t that large. I suspect the Great Deku Tree’s interior / navel will also be included to some extent, you can see a cooking pot in the BotW version from the leak.
  21. If anything I can see a set being released next year as a final hurrah for the show. As much as it’s a shame not to get Lego sets this year the sheer volume of content covered in the 2024 sets makes it completely excusable IMO. But yeah, definitely need updated minifigures of the whole crew.
  22. I initially thought he said this too but pretty sure he just means the included ‘figure’ is the buildable Batman itself. I would honestly love to see the sales figures for the buildable figures Lego have been pushing out, are they really that popular? I can’t imagine in what universe a buildable figure version of a vehicle would be appealing than a minifigure-scaled one. A $15 Batpod set would’ve been perfect. Also disappointed with the villain lineup in these sets, certainly could be much worse but these feel so minimal.
  23. One of these days, we’ll get a minifigure-scaled Batpod :( Looking forward to seeing the Batmobile!
  24. I wonder just how good the June Mando S3 sets are going to be minifigure-wise? Moff Gideon: Expecting a reuse of the Gar Saxon helmet mould and the darktrooper armour piece, but an updated face that better resembles Giancarlo Esposito would be welcome, the 2021 minifigure barely resembled him. Paz Viszla: Personally hoping for a top to bottom revamp but the 2021 minifigure would still work. Praetorian Guards: New helmet moulds I hope? And of course just reusing the existing Praetorian Guard shoulder armour piece. Imperial Supercommandos: New helmet moulds which I think were confirmed last year?
