Ended up ordering about $1000 worth of Lego so that I could get 11 ARF troopers during the promo. Man, Lego knows how to push my buttons.
-
Since you guys seem interested, here is a pic from a 66 quart container (which typically holds about 3,000 minifigs): And reshuffled a bit to show a couple of the larger bags underneath:
-
Not unlimited storage. A 15 quart container holds a little more than 1,000 minifigs. So all I would need is forty of them. Like these:
-
These days I'm somewhere over 40,000 minifigs. The bulk of it is Castle and Star Wars. Pirate and Space make up about 3,000 each. One day I'll hire day laborers to help me take pics.
-
That's pretty impressive growth. Are you the mystery Japanese buyer who has been sending money over monthly to an American Bricklinker to buy minifigs for him?
-
This was also my first castle. I ended up buying 13 copies of it. Initially, I was a bit turned off by the goofy lion head, especially since there were still Crusader/Black Falcon sets sometimes still on the shelves at the time. The castle itself was great and I felt the need to populate it will a lot of minifigs. Thus began my compulsion. :)
-
Haven't counted lately, but it's somewhere over 500. Need to bulk up on the forestmen more since my Wolfpack army is now topping 800.
-
I'm pretty sure it's around 220-230 pigs. I got them from Lego.com or BL.
-
I finally sorted through last month's pig purchases. Once I add the upcoming goats and chickens, I can build one helluva farm. :) And I added some more forestmen to the pile.
-
Exactly. Sadly, I have quite a lot of those shields in order to match up with my minifigs. I much prefer Crusaders and the new Lions shields.
-
First of all, thank you for taking the time to write your post. Quite interesting to go through the history like that. Hey, don't forget the guys with the red/grey shields. There were a few sets in the late 70s to the early 80s that featured printed torsos, matching shields, etc. While a bit plain, they are classics. And when the Crusaders and Black Falcons came around, there were also the Crossed Axes which I consider to be a separate faction even though they are allied with the Crusaders. Yes. It took several years before Lego improved again with Ninja. I hate the Dragonmaster helmet. It looks comical and worse, it is loose-fitting and easily falls off. Eh. I believe the Fright Knights is the most cartoonish, garish shield ever made. I take it you're not familiar with the Time Cruisers theme? I love the smiley face! I've found that I've been replacing more and more of my armies with it because it's really difficult coming up with unique heads once your factions start to number in the hundreds.

PAB selection plea for the classic smiley (Head #001)

That's like saying fat Elvis is just skinny Elvis with more pounds! -
If it doesn't sell and you're willing to go to $5 each, then I'm interested.

Make sure you read the splash pages. Some dealers have some pretty wacky policies on there. I remember once I placed a large order (over $1000) with a shop. I forgot to add one cheap part (black police hats), so I added a few of them about 2 minutes after I placed the large order. Well, the seller tried to charge me a $25 fee to process the first order and another $25 fee to process the second order and insisted that the two ordered must be shipped (internationally) separately. I pointed out how ridiculous that policy is, but he would not budge. Said that the terms were on his splash page ($25 processing fee on each order and no order additions). When I refused to pay the extra for some black police hats, he hit me with a NPB. Also, I found that shipping from European shops to the U.S. is all over the board. Some will charge a very reasonable amount. Others will charge exorbitant sums.

BEWARE: Collectable Minifigures US Online Purchases

I bought 64 Series Two figures from Lego.com. Not a single Spartan. I'm pretty convinced at least one of their workers was pocketing the good stuff for profit. -
I remember when this set first came out and how everybody HATED it. My how time changes things. Back then, all the lego talk was on rec.toy.lego on usenet groups. When you see the simple majesty of the older Crusader and Black Falcon sets, it's understandable why people were so upset with the large pieces/juniorization of the Dragon Masters.
-
As the oldest, most common head out there, can we get it back into the PAB selection? It's a classic and is applicable to all themes, so should have a place in the inventory. I bought one or two thousand last time it was offered and now I'm running low. If it means anything, I personally pledge to buy at least four thousand for personal use if it were offered again.

Lego's $7 sets usually involve two minifigs and some pieces (i.e. cannon, catapult, etc.). We are talking ONE minifig for $10! They've priced this line to fail.
-
$10 for a single minifig and some cards? Lego has gone insane. The SW battlepacks cost only $2 more, includes four minifigs, a vehicle, and includes licensing costs. These single figures should have been priced around $3-$4 which is consistent with the prices of the collectable minifig line.

I've got 40,000+ minifigs to feed.

I've spent over $6000 on Lego this past couple of weeks now. I can't resist Lego sales and Amazon, Wal-Mart, Target, Toys R Us and even Borders and Disney have had sales recently. Just ordered 100 of the Snowtrooper battle pack. 97 of them shipped and they said that they are now out of stock. Or they are cutting me off. Ever since Target effectively shut down the after Christmas Lego clearance and Lego started in with more and more exclusive sets, my shopping patterns have changed. Before, I could expect a wide variety of large Lego sets to go to 70% off. Now, I'm happy to get 30-40% whenever I can.
