Instead of the 8t to 8t connection, you could straight through drive that axle by moving the double pin with bush one hole closer to the camera to make way for the axle.
They stay fixed. It's the rear wheel that turns, you can see its cowling in the first real picture.

This is likely down to the force required to turn it by hand which is quite excessive. I'd recommend using the alternative steering design made by one of the geniuses on here which will work much better with motors.
This is making me wonder what the flagship in 2h is going to be with all of these colours.
