  1. Darksten happily pockets the single coin, but before he strolls back to the conversation, He peaks in the window to see what is going on in there "You will have to forgive me as I have remained isolated for quite sometime, what invasion do you talk of? is that the encroaching force the animals were in threat of?" Darksten says to Kianu. Darksten hoped the old man had taken care of the spiders already... cause he had signed up to Heroica because he wanted to use his skills in battle, yet it seemed he had only been employed so far as a bug exterminator..
  2. The slip up with Crowley was easily written off as planned. It seemed like he was saying he was there on is own because he had failed his first mission and thus wanted to cover his tracks by saying he was just doing his own thing. Mdae him more human. As for the rooms. Ironically the basement/hidden door under the stair was one of the doors I initially thought was there. When you said there were four doors, but only showed three regular doors in the picture, I guessed there was one under the stairs casue I thought you were showing us everything in the room already But minor things. I am looking forward to another one of your quests
  3. As Darksten joins up with the group headed out on the quest, he sighs as he sees the knight once again join the party. "Hopefully this time will be better..." Yet there is a glimer of hope as Darksten spots the shape of a bow strapped to the newcommers back. The creature standing before him was a new sight, half women, half beast. Darksten wasn't sure what to think. "Good morning Kianu, it is nice to meet you. I know time is short, but can you tell us about what your father was looking for before he went missing?" As Darksten waits for a reply, he begins to search the crates/boxes/barrels stacked up in the alley OOC: It does say in the rules (first page, under equipment) that all new heros start with a potion in addition to their class item.
  4. Vote: Adam Powers (jluckhaupt) Adam, I see now what you did, I just disagree with it. To me it looked like a deliberate attempt to frame me by manipulating a post. Even though you did not change words around, people could have misinterpreted the few words that you left. There were three people highlighted in that post, yet the only name you let in was mine. Followed by multiple levels of accusation. So my vote will be for you. You corrected yourself, and I appreciate that. However I have to vote, and there is little to go on. Since changing quotes can be used to benefit the scum, I want to send a clear message that changing quotes without highlighting what you did in them (aka: use <snip>, etc) will not be tolerated by me. If anyone else has more suspicions, let us know soon!
  5. So Adam, that begs the question then. Why did you change the quote?
  6. So I noted this... If you look at the original quote (it didn't transfer over) in the associated post on page 2, you will see a quote accusing me from Dragonfire. Yet I do not see the original post which it is quoted from. Did anyone else pick up on that, or am I missing something?
  7. "To be honest, I am kinda in shock something like this would happen that close to me. I realize how much I have to learn, and am questioning my career field choice... The truth of the matter is that we don't know anything. If you want to read into me being quiet, that is fine. But keep in mind it can go both ways. If the good guys talk too much, they aren't going to hear the assassins sneak up behind them. Does anyone know who has special skills already (aka: what type of roles could be in play) because we are only in training so I assume what department we are in doesn't matter" ooc: sorry for delay, been rather busy at work. With the weekend here I can post a little more often. I just ask that once the work week starts again, people check profiles to see when someone was last logged in before pointing fingers.
  8. It's a damn shame we lost her. Good observation Tim, I agree that this most likely wasn't poison. Too bad we are all just students or we might have been able to do something about it.
  9. Quest #97 Review Overall: I liked this quest. I thought the plot was great for a low level character like myself. There was enough in it to get me adjusted to the Heroica realm, while not going overboard on the lore. There were a few times where there were inconsistencies in the story, but I felt like they were almost intentional (like Crowley saying he came on his own, but then saying it was his first mission). Eitherway, they helped develop the story line and had me thinking things out furhter. I thought the pace went fairly well, though for a while we were waiting for other people (which is not the QM's fault). My only suggestion would be to better define the rooms/build/play area. For example, the main foyer had a door that was not even shown in the image. I am a very tactical person, so I like to pretend my characters are cleraing the room for real. When I set up the plan, only to find out there is another door I didn't know about, it is sort of frustrating. Plus, had the unscene doors not been mentioned, we might have missed them completely. Battles: I felt they were fair. I was sure we were going to loose the last quest, but that was more because of our play style than anything. Though I felt it definitely could have gone a lot worse because there were a lot of high hitting area of effect chances, and the bugs had high SP in comparison to what we were able to hit them with. Had we not had the water bomb, it probably would have turned out differently. Characters: Crowley (Endgame): I am including him because pretty much most of this quest I played against/with Endgame. I like Crowley. I got the feeling he was trying to do the right thing, but he hadn't fully come to terms with how to use his elite upbringing. Definitely would be interesting to see him play out further. Also, do people really not pay NPC's after a battle? I just find it weird from a RP perspective that we would distribute all this loot and not give a member of our party something. Darksten (me): I took my character through a couple different stages this quest. at first I wanted to start out indifferent to the world, but after Hoang Anh went AWOL for a bit, I had Darksten try to take more sympathy. When that did not pan out, I had him grow more frustrated. I like to think he saw himself as the leader of the pack. This was definitely helped by the good rolls he was getting. The first few battles were huge successes for Darksten Hoang anh (Hoanganhbeo): If there is one person who didn't get good rolls, it was Hoang Anh. This definitely did not help the perception problem since many things went wrong for the knight. I hate to admit it, but a lot of the time I just felt Darksten was there to escort Hoang Anh as he tried to play knight on halloween night. Hoanganhbeo, your play style is a lot different than mine I think. Unfortunatly your one line responses didn't give much to play off of, and often they were just restating what I had already said. It was frustrating too when you just left for a bit without responding to anything, forcing me to play the quest by myself. --- Any ways, those are my thoughts. It was a good first quest overall, and I am looking forward to playing with some of the other heroes! I am also very open to hear what other people have to say about my play style and what I can do different (RP, battle style, etc) next quest...
  10. As darksten walked into the hall after his last quest, he saw the posters tacked to the bulletin board. He quickly signed up for both quests (#100 & #101) in hopes someone would pick him. Once he had done so, he settled down in his old booth by the corner to set to work using his grating stone on his newly aquired arrows. Crossbow(WP: 5) gains 1WP
  11. Darksten strolled into the marketplace with the bag of coins jingling in his pack. His first stop was to the smithy. The old crossbow on his back had served him well, but the quest he had just returned from proved that he would need stronger weaponry if he was to survive. With reluctance he traded in his crossbow (WP:3) for a new crossbow (WP:5) (120-50[buy]+15[sell]=85 gold) As Darksten passed FABIAN’S FANTABULOUS FASHION BOUTIQUE, an old worn cloth caught his eye. He recognized the skin from an animal he used to hunt back in the day and knew right away it was a good piece of clothing. It seemed to offer some more protection than his current garments allowed. With his mind made up, he bought the Sand Worn Hide (85-60=25gold)
  12. As Darksten steps out into the cold air, he feels the brisk breeze as it blows away some of the local stench. The motely crew standing before him did not impress him much, especially now that the white cleric had told him their true story, Yet the young child still had his sympathy, She was too young to be suffering from her parent's mistakes Darksten turns to the cleric upon hearing this and chuckles: "Your first assignment huh? I knew there was too much research going into this for it to be a spur of the moment decision on your part. You fought well today. I would gladl fight along side you again. Come find me in Heroica Hall if you ever want to team up again" As Darksten receives his blanket from the young child, he cannot help but feel bad for the young girl. Her experiences in life so far were so undeserved, yet she had an innocence that was in stark contrast to what he had just done "Thank you dear. I know this will keep me safe and warm on many future nights." Darksten reaches into his pack and pulls out some folded papers, and the pair of borrowed dice "I should give these back to you as well, they helped me a lot, but, I think you have more use for them now. It certainly looked like a fun game though, so if you ever want to play, let me know." As the man's words cross his lips, Darksten straightens up and looks him in the eyes "I would expect nothing less from you. When your daughter is warm inside tonight, remember who protected that shelter. When your wife can eat food tomorrow, remember who provided it to her. It certainly was not you, and unless you change your ways, you will remain unfit to be the head of this household." With that Darksten bids his fairwell from the group and makes his way back to the main part of town. But as he crosses out of the walled section, he stops to speak to the member of the Town Watch on patrol "I think perhaps you should let someone know that greater security is needed at the ports. More customs agents should be screening the cargo before it arrives so that we can avoid issues like this" Darksten says as he shows the fang with Kos's blood dried to it "If the owner of this can get in, who knows what other monsters, diseases, and crimes can slip through" Thanks! I was a good first quest! I would defintiely appreciate any comments/feedback you have for me as well.
  13. Darksten watches as the knight sorts the loot and shakes his head at the final distribution... "This knight will never learn" But rather than redistribute, Darksten simply pockets the small items he had been given. As he does, he hears KOS's last words and watches the giant spider pass away. He had had enough of giants bugs for a while. once the creature is dead, Darksten takes his utility knife and cuts one of his front fangs off. Putting it carefully in his pack.
  14. "Knight, how about we get that web off of you" Darksten says, fearing the knight would slash a human as he struggled in the net Suggested battle order Crowley: (attack web from back) Darksten: (attack chilly spider a from back) Hoang Anh: (attack chilly spider b from back) Hoang Anh: We don't need you attacking one of us by mistake, and the other ant is poisoned so is going to die the round anyways.
  15. "You stupid ants, we have taken Kos down and proven superior. We gave you the chance to help us, but now you leave us no choice but to finish you" Suggested battle order: Hoang Anh: potion on self from the back row Darksten: Chilly Ant A from back row Crowley: Chilly Ant B from back row
  16. I am banking on not having to fight the ants right away. But then we have to figure out what to do with them cause we can't just leave them here
  17. Unless Hoang Anh speaks up (and thus we would continue discussion) I say go with battle plan as briefed. I reran the calculations and it actually shouldn't KO the knight, but leave him with one health. Double post for clarity
  18. You ruined the surprise/secret! Haha, really though I was scatterbrained and missed that small thing... Still think it is the best option. Leaves the ants open to play. Plus if I take out KOS it eliminates a higher hitting free hit. I am willing to listen if Hoang Anh has a better option. Edit: Also, if I was to throw a smoke bomb, all run out to the side room, pop a few potions, and then run right back into the fight, would everything stay the same (or similar) or does the fight restart?
  19. ah, I missed that SP thing. Thanks. Either way, this is going to hurt.. Suggested battle order: Hoang Anh: (potion on Crowley from back) Crowley: (potion on Darksten from back) Darksten (attack KOS from back) Hoang Anh, this will knock you out, but not doing this would still leave you weak and confused. This way we can take KOS out and get the Phoenix essence. Thoughts?
  20. 1.) never done a game on Eurobricks, and thus no school. However, I have played on other sites. 2.) not applicable 3.) yes, pending any unforeseen instances 4.) I will not critique your photography in the forums 5.) bridge officer (power, intelligence, and insight into ship operations) and/or security (power, weapons, and access to the all areas)
  21. ooc: Hardy Ant A should be poisoned, and I think Hoang Anh should have taken 3 damage from the free hit because the shield would deflect 2pts right? (We need all the help we can get. Haha)
  22. ooc: No worries! Darksten stands amazed as the large creature recovers from their repeated attacks. A hint of regret filters into his mind as he watches the foolhardy knight stumble around in the web. "Perhaps we should have taken out the weaker foes first. How silly of me to rely on this knight when he has shown no reason to be trusted. Now I don't link the odds before us" Darksten thinks to himself. With that he notches another arrow, but chooses to speak to the ants before firing "Ants, that monster is crippled, he has been poisoned by my arrow and will not live to see the end of the day. Your oppression under his rule will not last much longer. Rise up now, and attack him. Speed up the arrival of your freedom." Suggested battle order (Should ants attack Kos) Darksten (clears the web from the back row) Hoang Anh (attack Kos, Hardy Ant A if Kos dead, from Front row) Crowley (heals self from back row) Suggested battle order (should ants not attack Kos) Hoang Anh (Attack Kos from front row) Darksten (Hardy Ant A from back) Crowley (Hardy Ant B from back) Would be curious to see ant reaction prior to finalizing combat.
  23. ooc: Crowley's comment is incorrect right? We will take damage next round since the special fades away? Also, shouldn't Kos be poisoned due to me hitting him with a poisoned arrow, or am is there an extra roll that I failed?
  24. Darksten's shot goes wide as the ants begin to crawl over the heroes. As he swats away the one on him, he sees the knight raise his shield and get in a blocking position. "Thanks! Now let's take advantage and try to cripple the head of this mob..." With that, Darksten lets loose an arrow at the giant spider. Suggested battle order Hoang Anh (attack Kos from front) Crowley (attack Kos from front) Darksten (attack Kos from back)
