"Copy sir. Do you know where the spiders are now? We are also short matches, so would you know where we can find them (and the rest of your equipment as I assume you did not come in here unarmed)l? " Darksten also glances at the fireplace to see if he sees the glow of any hot embers- 237 replies

Darksten nods to the trapped man in acknowledgement. He then looks towards the ceiling for any of the bugs which may be hiding up there, as well as any webbing which would connect them to the trapped man Darksten whispers to his fellow Hero: "Don't move, but look around and see if you can spot any of the large bugs. If there are not any, I will cover you with my crossbow and, when I give the order, you can cut this man down with your sword"- 237 replies

Darksten weighed his options. On one hand he preferred to search for the kitchen on the first floor. However, he had his adversary cornered here and he knew he should take the shot while he can. He unslings his crossbow and prepares for combat "Alright knight, open the door, and let's get this over with "- 237 replies

As Darksten walks up the stairs after Hoang Anh he throws him two small bottles of the remedy and a bottle of potion "Now, let's see what we have here..." Darksten said as he knelt next to the pile of bugs so that his shadow fell across them "Greetings everyone, I regret to inform you that your space has been invaded by a larger species of insects. We are here to settle the score and return the peace. Would you happen to know anything about them that could help us? Or know the location of our missing friend?- 237 replies

Brethren of the Brick Seas?
Comrade Commander replied to Admiral Croissant's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I agree that GoH is a good idea, but not having been involved from the start I feel lost. Perhaps to counter that we do something to what yawgmoth suggested when he said that he considers everyone their own player. What I mean by this is that we consider each participating player as their own entity, but group them under 1 of 4 (or some other number) over arching groups. So like a participant could consider themselves as a pirate captain leading a fleet of ships working for the Pirate Council, a business man managing ports for the Royal Trading Corp, a native looking to grow his tribe under the Ubatang Nation, or pilgrams trying to settle the new world for The Le'Efant. The bottom line is that their is some background/structure for people to work from, but ultimately they are in control of their own history. Then, from time to time their leaders will call on them to meet certain goals (settle an island, battle an enemy, etc) on behalf of the greater cause. This allows comraderie, competition, and challenge. -

Brethren of the Brick Seas?
Comrade Commander replied to Admiral Croissant's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I like the idea, though personally I don't think it should be split amongst the current factions (pirates, armada, islanders, etc). The reason for this being that it limits the creative flow in my opinion. Someone is going to complain if people start mixing Armada and Imperials in a port city when they are supposed to be separate and distinct. The best option I believe is to create whole new fantasy "nations" and allow people to mix and mingle existing sets to create a more diverse environment. We could easily still have a nation that is more dark/sinister and thus geared towards pirates, and another more rural for islanders, etc. But if someone wants to build a small trading port for their rural/islander nation they should be able too. That being said, we could always do the program via fleets where everyone just builds ships for their faction's armada, but that would turn a lot of landlubbers like myself away Just my thoughts, but either way I would be interested! -

"Stupid bugs" Darlsten thinks to himself as he cleans out his hat. "Well let's get going" Darksten said to the knight as he walked towards the door on the right. He continued to keep an ear out for any further sounds the bugs may be making- 237 replies

I am just going to add my two cents on something that has been bothering me in regards to character skills. Forgive me if it has been brought up before... Wouldn't it make more sense, from a roleplaying perspective, for a ranger to know "track down" (follow any individual/creature) first before they would know "animal talk" (talk to any animals)? Any good hunter/killer would know how to stalk prey, but it would take a ton of experience/magic to talk to a creature. I just think "Animal Talk" would be better suited for the advanced classes like hunter, druid, warden, while "track down" would be better as a starting skill for a ranger. Like I said, I just wanted to add my thoughts.

"I have seen bugs travel great distances in search of shelter and food, I have seen complex colonies of insects working together under the undisputed rule of a single creature, and I know you know information I need. But if you are going to play dumb, then you are no you are all of no use to me" Darksten says as he begins to squeeze his hat even tighter around the trapped bugs "We will find the kitchen either way, it is just a matter of whether or not we leave anything for you and your larger friends"- 237 replies

As Darksten holds the wriggling bag, he begins to click and vibrate in ways he had seen the many bugs on his hunting trips do "We want to know where the food is. We crave sugar and meat, especially fresh meat." Darksten says hoping they can point the heroes to the kitchen and captured town guard. "If you could also tell us where your leader is! we would like to pay our respects." OOC: Copy on the additional quest being optional, but at this level I might as well take every opportunity to profit/grow! Though to be clear, is the objective to find or to kill? I assume kill from her conversation with us. (Also, I apparently can't make this light gray from my mobile device..)- 237 replies

"Alright knight, it sounds like the Town Watch fellow is being held captive. We will have to keep our eyes out for him. From what I can tell, the kitchen might be to the right and there seems to be some activity in there. I think we should go there to secure the food. First though, if you would be so kind as to join me by this carpet. Move slowly and quietly so as not to disturb anything. I want you to flip the carpet and see if there are any of those smaller bugs under here. We might be able to capture one and get some more information Darksten slings his crossbow, and removes his hat, holding it in both hands as a makeshift net to pounce on any bugs that might be under the carpet- 237 replies

"Hmm, ok so this may be more a rescue operation than a simple extermination." Darksten says, praying to himself the town watch member wasn't involved in spreading the mutant insects This town watch member, were you able to talk to him at all and get what his plan with the bugs was? If we could meet up with him, it could greatly reduce the time it takes to do the job and get everyone back inside. "Also, unless there is anything else you can think of that might be of use, I believe the knight and I best get started" Darksten turns to the knight and says: "So here is the plan, when we approach the hovel I want to stop just outside the door and see if I can hear any of those bugs communicating. I've spent years working in the woods and if there is one thing I know, it is that bugs aren't just the mindless creatures everyone thinks they are. We might just be able to get some information from them before we blow our surprise.- 237 replies

"Ok, thank you for that information. Just a few more things I hope you would help us with. 1.) About how long has this infestation going on, and do you know where the bugs came from. (Aka: did the ants burrow in from a nest in the ground, the spiders scurry down from a web in the attic, etc?) 2.) Is there anything in the building that you have which may aid/hinder our quest? An old weapon, some spare potions, traps to look out for, etc? And would you mind if we used them to assist us under the clause we return them?" 3.) Can you sketch me a map of the building's layout Edit: "Hold on my esteemed colleague. We need some more information before we blindly charge in. Wait a few more minutes for me to ask a few questions and then I will take you in and you can slash away"- 237 replies

"Hmm, ok. how many types of bugs are in the shelter? And about how many overall? We can definitely work to preserve the food ma'am, but understand they might have already gotten to it. We will do our best to protect whatever we can. Is all the food stored in one place?" Turning to Fiona "Squish all the little bugs huh? And what do you want us to do with the big bugs?- 237 replies

"Greetings, we are here to assist with your situation. My name is Darksten and this is Ho Hang. I assure you that the knight and I are capable of tackling what was laid out, but I understand you might have another request beyond simply just removing the infestation? "Understood, thank you for the help sir. I am always appreciative of the Town Watch. If there is anything we can do in the hovels to make your job easier, let us know. It always help for folks like us to have a good reputation with the Town Watch since we often share the same goals. In fact, if your shift is almost over and you want to change and join us we can talk to our contact on the other side. They were originally looking for three to four people anyways, and I am sure this knight and I can learn a lot from you. It would also be good to have a guide in the hovels. If not, we can head out and always report back on our way out."- 237 replies

"Aye, it will be rough to be out in the cold without shelter. Which is why this knight and I are going to the hovels to help them reclaim one of the infested areas. It is my first task as a member of Heroica, and I believe it is for this knight as well, but we will see what it leads too. You wouldn't happen to know anything about the infestation, or any other things going on in the hovels now would you? As I said, we are a little green behind the ear, and I am much more comfortable outside of the city, so I am not as familiar with the environment as I am sure you are."- 237 replies

As Darksten approaches the hovel wall, he notices the lone guard standing sentry at the gate. When the guards finishes his challenge, Darksten replies: "Good day sir, my companion and I were contacted through Heroica to deal with an infestation on the other side of this wall. We have to take care of it before winter settles in, and it spreads to other areas. Perhaps you have heard about it? " OOC: Thanks Endgame! I am looking forward to it. Also, stats check on my end.- 237 replies
