That's a good reason to keep color out of the stand, actually. The X-wing is red and the Y-wing is yellow — as long as the stand is all greys, you shouldn't have a problem with focal point. I don't think you'll have that problem right now with the almost completely light-bley stand.

Yeah, Lucas and his concept team from Sith decided it should be — I still think the Z-95 looks better as an X-wing predecessor.

Plausible. The '99 Snowspeeder had a P-tower. White Boba isn't new; that's why we care more about the protocol droid.

As always, beautiful work with all the curves and angles. (especially around the bulbous tip of the nose) This looks more plausible as an X-wing precursor than the ARC-170, with the long nose and two wings on each side instead of three. The wing arrangement is an interesting interpretation of S-foils, and even if they don’t have two positions and even if they look a little more general sci-fi-esque than Star Wars-esque, I like it. The slightly asymmetrical greebling is a nice touch, too.

Nice work. I'd add a base around the MOC, just to give it a final refining touch as a display piece. (There are lots of different ways you can do this; my preferred style is a 1-wide SNOTed base using curved bricks around the edges, as can be seen here or here or here, for example.)

OoC: Does "Impervious to Direct Attacks from Demons" count as a positive effect that the Wings could remove?

Yeah, if PaB is what you're looking for, LLCA isn't that good anymore. A few years ago, they had a bunch of good stuff you could look through. I particularly remember four bins that were just assorted Technic and other little bits in the black/grey/tan color range, which was very useful. But nowadays, it's mostly basic bricks in basic colors; nothing special compared to what you might see in a Brand Retail Store.

You can make one with the torso of the old version of the Death Star Trooper and a black cap.

That's funny, I've always had the exact opposite 'problem'. Got the '07 MTT with twenty B1s, and then grabbed a bunch of the '07 Droid BPs when they went on sale at 75%-off, and I've never really wanted clones badly enough to go crazy buying them. (And part of that is the fact that I'm an OT fan.)

Actually, I don't think it'd be a bad choice for the May the Fourth promotion. It's a nice minifig to have, it's versatile as far as usefulness in MOCs, it's in an unusual color, but it's not a prominent character that you'd really need like the Hoth Han that people complained about last year. Yeah, we'd all rather have chrome stuff, but this isn't a bad choice. (Actually, it could be chrome red/dark red, we can't really tell from that picture.) Not as far as I know. We have one source that says we're getting a $300 Sandcrawler, but that's all we know as far as the larger exclusives. I sort of remember some people saying something about a UCS AT-AT, but I don't think there was ever actually a source linked to. (If there is, someone please point me to it; that needs to go in the first post.)
