  1. I've never agreed with the idea that we're somehow entitled to leaks or previews. Historically, if you're a regular consumer, you ideally wouldn't see anything until it appeared at a toy fair, in a D2C press release, or on a store shelf. Any information you get before then is a bonus, not a right. As far as TLG is concerned, the general public should never see leaked retailer catalogs or set lists, and they do this to prevent their sets from being copied, not because they want to annoy you. TLG has consistently shown over the past few years that it cares about AFOLs. They're not keeping things under wraps because they don't care about us. I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm not going to give up on buying LEGO just because I don't get to see some toys a few months before I can buy them. But if other adult collectors decide to so that...well, I'm sure TLG will be happy to continue selling those toys to their target audience that doesn't browse sites like EB where rumors and previews can be found.
  2. Are you guys sure it uses two of those bricks? I'm not seeing a stud behind the grille on the rear one in the screenshot. I'm pretty sure it's built like this: The rear brick only has studs on two sides, and one of the studs with a hole in the middle is used to hold the globe piece. (And all these pieces are available in black, according to BL.) Exploded:
  3. All of you guys have great suggestions...but they're also all minifig parts, which means they'd have to come in future Star Wars minifigs. I suspect the vast majority of responses to this topic would be along those lines, and anything else, since this topic is specifically for Star Wars parts, would have to come in a future Star Wars set. Merging with the future minifigs topics......done.
  4. Four posts merged from "Most wanted new Star Wars pieces".
  5. Looks good so far! Amazingly, it looks like this is a rare part of Star Wars that doesn't have a name. Wookieepedia doesn't list any vehicles as appearing in Heir that resemble it. According to the novel, Luke and Mara didn't make that trip in a vehicle; they walked, escorted by scouts on good ol' 74-Z's, one of which towed Artoo. Given that no other speeders are shown in the following battle scene in the comic, I'd guess that this is a non-canon depiction of the Chariot. On the other hand, one of the panels shows two of these, and only one Chariot was deployed at this scene in the book. The only other candidate might be the Swift Assault 5, which Wookieepedia says was used in the assault of Karrde's base on Myrkr, but they also look much different and are not mentioned in the Hyllyard City scenes in the book.
  6. ...neither of which has anything to do with rumored LEGO sets or belongs in this topic. Star Wars news does not imply LEGO news. We have other topics for discussing sets you want to see or think we'll see or Star Wars in general.I realize that off-topic discussion can be fun, relatively harmless, or the natural and unintentional result of a conversation. But we aren't the only ones who read this topic; other people stop in once a week or a couple times a month to stay up-to-date on rumors...and you guys aren't discussing rumors at all. As you yourself said, there's enough irrelevant chit chat in here to necessitate skimming discussion. So, if it isn't related to set rumors -- and general Star Wars news falls under that description -- please don't discuss it here.
  7. Did none of you read Stash's post just a couple posts above yours?
  8. And I'll add to that: saying, "I hope we get these newly revealed Star Wars vehicles/characters/locations as LEGO sets/minifigs," isn't an acceptable way of tying it back to LEGO news and rumors. We have the Future Star Wars sets topic for that. (Unless, of course, you want to claim that it is a legitimate rumor, which would be an acceptable way of tying it back to LEGO news and rumors...but if you turn out to be wrong...)
  9. At the moment, there is nothing to suggest than any of the "Brick Productions" accounts are used by the same person, aside from the name itself. In any case, spreading false rumors is a bannable offense itself, so if they do turn out to be duplicate accounts for that purpose, they will eventually be banned. But nothing indicates we should do that right now.
  10. A $100 is a lot of money, but once you've already decided you're okay with spending $400 on little bits of colored plastic, is the extra $100 really that much? I'd much rather have a quality set than one that's clearly had $100 of pieces shaved off of it. Let's not forget that 10179 started out as a personal project and then evolved into a set, so I imagine much of the design work took place without any price point limitations.
  11. It can work, though the angle won't end at the front in a nice point, as you say.Very nice model, by the way!
  12. Seems like he's just making a comment based on what everyone else has been saying. It's not an illogical conclusion. Wild or baseless speculation or made-up rumors are never something you want to see in these topics, but let's not go accusing everyone who drops in to make a comment of spreading false information.
  13. It looks like a staff member thought that when you said, "wrong topic," you were saying that you yourself had posted in the wrong topic, so it was hidden. No, it would not have been. We never delete or hide off-topic posts. Sometimes they'll get moved to the appropriate topic, but that's the most action we ever take.
  14. Also note that Luminara has a tan hand, not a flesh one.
  15. Have we actually gotten a completely transparent torso assembly, not just an arm? They were considered impossible a couple years ago because the poly-carb pieces aren't as flexible; transparent-to-transparent minifig joints would be stiffer and more prone to cracking.
  16. I'm not sure if it's still the case, because the style of sets has certainly changed recently, but I know TLG used to have a policy for trying to keep models studded, not only for simplicity and strength but also to make sure sets looked like LEGO. Sometimes it's a conscious aesthetic choice, not their "cheaping out."
  17. Oops. Fixed. No, speculation and wishlists have never been allowed in these topics. That's what Future Star Wars Sets is for.
  18. Discussion of Yoda's Hut rumor moved to the 2017 topic.
  19. You can take off the back of the torso and try to rewire it, but atlas is correct; the electronics are in both the torso and the arm, and repairing it won't be as simple as finding an LUL arm and popping it back in. Taking off the arm breaks the minifig, so I'd be surprised if someone was selling them separately. See also this topic.
  20. Posts moved to existing topic.
  21. What's the source for this rumor? As far as I can tell, it's all just wishful thinking and should be in Future Star Wars Sets, not in any rumors topic, regardless of year...
  22. Once we actually have credible rumors of 2017 sets, not just speculation and wishlists, the staff will start a 2017 topic.
  23. Beautiful work, mortesv! I think you've found the perfect balance between the gentle curves and the cobbled-together texture of the hull. Congratulations!
  24. Whom we choose to Chamber and how we deal with those we don't is really none of your business. Stay on topic.
