Heroica RPG - Unlimited Quest: Fields of Glory
Brickdoctor replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Wait, scratch that - Master Carvenhall, swap Master Emorith and Master Nihai in the Order; Master Emorith will only take 1 Damage from a Free Hit. Have Master Emorith heal himself whenever he drops to 11 HP or lower, although in the 22 Rounds it'll take for him to get there, this battle should be over. "Actually, we can end this a little more quickly if I move closer." I do nothing from the Front Row. -

"Alright, I think the best thing to do here would be to act automatically doing nothing, using Counterstrikes to finish the frogs, with Master Emorith stating that he'll attempt to heal Master Nihai whenever the latter drops to 14 HP or lower." I do nothing from the Back Row. OoC: Flare, posades, swils and I do nothing. Only swils can take Damage. K-nut states that, "I do nothing from the Back Row, unless Thormanil is at 14 HP or less, in which case I will attempt to heal him." (14 HP being the amount at which any successful healing roll from K-nut will restore swils to full HP) We autoplay until someone's in danger of being Knocked Out by a Free Hit. -
A new topic isn't really needed to announce an update to a project in an existing topic. Instead, I've merged this with your previous topic and added "(Updated!)" to the topic title to help attract any readers who only read topics once.

Heroica RPG - Unlimited Quest: Fields of Glory

OoC: Good point. Either way would work, I think. There are few enough enemies that we could deal with two heroes being Confused, and you deal enough Damage to make it a reasonable risk; at the same time, there are few enough enemies that we don't need to hurry to defeat them. In light of that, I'd say to go for it - might as well end this battle as quickly as possible. -

"We don't want more than one of us to get Confused at a time, which means that other than myself - my Dread Hat protects me - only one of us should attack a Toxic Toad. That should be Master Nihai, since he can Stun the toad and allow another to attack. You could attack if no one is Confused, though." OoC: To clarify, swils should attack Toxic Toad B; posades and Flare should both state that they'll attack Toxic Toad B if no one else is Confused or if the toad is Stunned. -

"Master Emorith should heal Master Carvenhall, I'll attack Toxic Toad A, Master Nihai should attack Toxic Toad B. Master Unth'or should state that he'll attack Toxic Toad B, but only if it's Stunned. Master Carvenhall should probably sit out this Round; we're capable of dealing with the Mud Frogs' Free Hits and we don't want to get Blinded." I attack Toxic Toad A from the Back Row with my Darksteel Crossbow. -

OoC: Oh, how did I forget about this: Flare, have Althior heal Toxic Toad A. It's already at full HP anyways. That'll save a Free Hit. I attack Ally Gator A from the Back Row with my Darksteel Crossbow. -

OoC: That was my thought as well. What do you guys think? We can all attack the gators, leaving Flare to take 24 Damage from Free Hits, but if three of us roll Special Damage, the gators will knock him out. Or we can attack a Toxic Toad, but if Flare gets Confused, he'll cause significant Damage with Counterstrikes to K-nut, swils and posades. (row doesn't affect actions between two heroes, I believe) -

OoC: Do you know whether my Dread Hat can affect enemies I attack if Flare's drawing attacks to himself? If it can, I can attack a Toxic Toad, otherwise we might all need to attack the gators. (can't have Flare getting Confused if he's going to Counterstrike all those enemies) -

"Master Emorith, heal the toad; don't attack it. You need to get rid of a Free Hit without risking getting Confused and Poisoned." -

"Stuns are probably better for now. Disable them to allow us to reduce their numbers before switching to greater offensive power for the kill." -

"Okay, I'll take one of the Toxic Toads, because they're Scared of me and can't Confuse and Poison me. We don't want more than one of us Confused and Poisoned at a time, so Master Nihai should take one of the other Toxic Toads, while Master Emorith heals the last Toxic Toad to prevent it from getting a Free Hit while not risking getting Confused and Poisoned. Master Unth'or should probably wait out this Round so he can rotate out with Master Nihai if the latter gets Confused, or he can join Master Carvenhall in attacking one of the Ally Gators - Master Carvenhall can attack one of those without risking taking significant Damage. "That leaves an Ally Gator and four Mud Frogs. I'll go first to take the gator's Free Hit, and Master Emorith should of course go last, being our healer. The order of the other three actions doesn't really matter." I attack Toxic Toad A from the Back Row with my Darksteel Crossbow. -
Maxed Spd does definitely help you keep up, but if you want to rush I think you'll also want maxed Def in case you run into one of the minion's shotguns. I did that once while trying to keep up because I got cornered and Confused; maxed Def is the only reason I Nexused out in time.

The starting stats? Yes, they are different for each class. (well, HP and Ether are; Level and Power are, of course, all the same when you start out) Each class also starts out with a different item: a Mead for Barbarians, a Remedy for Clerics, a Shield (SP: 2) for Knights, an elemental gem for Mages, a Smoke Bomb for Rangers or a Venom for Rogues.
-
You decide which class you want to be and build a minifig to be your character. (not necessarily in that order; also, if you don't have the pieces for the minifig you want, you can ask here and see if someone else can build it for you) Then you post your starting stats in the pinned Statistics topic (the starting stats for each class are outlined in the rules in the first post of this topic) and introduce your hero in the Hall topic.

OoC: I think VolcanicPanik's had over a hundred HP before, because of two Auras in a row stacking. We could autoroll with everyone targeting White Rabbit A; there's no reason for us to target the Pumpkinfaces. Either way. "Everyone attack the White Rabbit. I'll kill all the Pumpkinfaces with Counterstrikes." I attack White Rabbit A from the Back Row with my Darksteel Crossbow. -
Oh, right, that ridiculously lucky Sorc.

I would sell the CWhole. You can probably get 3-4 Life for it and use that to buy Astral, Elder, Exa HP.

That's the main thing holding me back from going back to unmaxed T9 chars: I end up spending to much time at O1 trying to avoid things that could kill be when I don't have max Def; if I do get hits in, my Att is too low to do significant Damage; my dodging and timing of phases is all messed up when I go from maxed to unmaxed Spd; and if I'm going to max those stats, Sprite Worlds become so routine that there's no reason not to max Dex. (not to mention that it's the most fun stat to have maxed) In godlands, I simply don't kill stuff fast enough to get lots of pots. I remember that when I farmed with unmaxed chars, I averaged about a 5 Def profit per character. With my 4/8 and higher Necros, I can easily get 5 Def in an hour or two. The difference is obvious; about three weeks ago, I had nothing but the reserve pots on my mules. Using those to create a 4/8 Necro, I got to 6/8 within a couple days and before it died, that maxed Necro gave me enough pots to get my Priest to 5/8, my Pally to 4/8 and more than refill all my reserve pot mules, plus a good number of T10/T5 equips. Easily a net profit of around 100 Def.

"Yes. The other two rabbits can't hurt you with their Free Hits since they're Blinded, so we don't need to target them." OoC: The worst-case scenario where you take all the Free Hits and we all roll Damage still leaves you with 22 HP. -

"Master Carvenhall, White Rabbits C and A are Blinded; they'll be unable to harm you and you can easily take another round of Free Hits. We should concentrate our attacks on White Rabbit B. "Master Nihai should also follow me and go second in the Order to take advantage of his ability to Stun." I attack White Rabbit B from the Back Row with my Darksteel Crossbow. -

OoC: We'd have to hit at least one Difficult area for everyone to get the Medal, and I don't really mind if we skip the Direwolves, so that would be two Difficult battles. Winning two Difficult battles could allow us to make a run at a Guardian, too. -

"Master Carvenhall and Master Unth'or, the three of us should keep on the White Rabbits: Master Unth'or, you have the lowest Defense, so you should switch over to the Blinded White Rabbit A. Master Carvenhall can keep on White Rabbit B while I move over to target White Rabbit C. Master Nihai should attack Hodgepodge B. "Master Emorith, attack Hodgepodge B as well, but specify in a conditional statement in your action that you'll attack White Rabbit A if Hodgepodge B is already defeated. We don't want you getting Stunned by attacking a Pumpkinface, and if you're going to target a White Rabbit, all of which will already be targeted, you might as well attack the one that can't harm you." I attack White Rabbit C from the Back Row with my Darksteel Crossbow.
