There have been plenty of large sculptures displayed in the Brand Stores. Off the top of my head, I remember Batman, Vader, Chewbacca, Indiana Jones. I think this was done for some toy stores even before the Brand Stores opened, too - I remember reading about a model of Ollie the Dragon made for a store display years ago; don't remember where, though.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion
Brickdoctor replied to LEGOman273's topic in Culture & Multimedia
No, you're not alone. I agree with you; when I first saw the last episode of Season 5, I mentioned in the EB Star Wars Blog's review that it wouldn't be that bad as the ending of the entire show. -
First, let me just say that I find this discussion not offending, but hilarious. Actually, I would not be opposed to the proposition of non-Guardian Fields enemies dropping nothing but consumables. I'm in it for the XP, and there's already the opportunity to trade GP for some very decent loot. The Fields are for players who just want to do battles and level up; and any loot dropped by enemies is just a nice bonus. And contrary to popular belief, I do now have ideas of how I want to roleplay my characters (I didn't when I started playing.); I just choose not to do it with Docken. I do plan to do more roleplaying and less min-maxing with my second character.

Heroica RPG - Unlimited Quest: Fields of Glory
Brickdoctor replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
OoC: For some reason I thought the Golden Handcannon was Lightning + Ice, instead of Light. Okay, posades, switch to the Mountain Goat. -
Heroica RPG - Unlimited Quest: Fields of Glory
Brickdoctor replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
OoC: Why not? The Lightning is ineffective against Electric and the Ice is effective against Beast, so the two elements cancel out and he can do normal Damage. -
It depends on your definition of micro-scale. TLG tends to define its scales by size of a model compared to the average set, not by the size of a model compared to the 'real' thing*. The Executor and its included ISD are at close to the same scale compared to the 'real' craft in Star Wars, but compared to the typical System set the Executor is much bigger and the ISD is much smaller. I know Anio tries to stick as close as possible to TLG's own definitions and regulations of terms and building techniques, so I assume that that is why he doesn't consider the Executor to micro-scale. *See also the two midi-scale sets: at completely different scales compared to the 'real' Falcon and ISD, but close to the same size compared to each other.

I think Sandy said that it wouldn't be possible to get 500 GP in one single run through the Fields.

Heroica RPG - Unlimited Quest: Fields of Glory
Brickdoctor replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Thank you, Master Carvenhall. Good work, Master Unth'or. "Master Emorith can take the first shot at the Mountain Goat, since he's Lucky. Master Nihai, also attack the Mountain Goat. Master Unth'or, you could take the Mountain Goat or you could switch to your Handcannon and attack the Tygurah. Your choice." I attack the Tygurah twice from the Back Row with my Darksteel Crossbow. -

Brickdoctor replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
OoC: I've got the Tygurah already. You might as well attack Rattlesnake A, too. Gives us a better chance of taking it out, and if you roll Constrict against it or another Rattlesnake, then my Aura is still up. -
You don't need an in-character reason. You think it'll give you a statistical advantage, just do it. Besides, there should be no separation between in-character and out-of-character knowledge.

Heroica RPG - Unlimited Quest: Fields of Glory
Brickdoctor replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
OoC: Wait, can posades even Damage the Tygurah? The Tygurah is Beast/Electric, and having the Electrogear equipped makes Xander's attacks Lightning-elemental. Can he switch to the Golden Handcannon to Damage it? (Ice canceling out the Lightning?) -
Any party that doesn't have a Druid has room for improvement.

Hmm, looks like I'm living on the side of a road in the middle of some hills near Candlestick Park. Must've sold my house in order to pay for all this LEGO.

Heroica RPG - Unlimited Quest: Fields of Glory
Brickdoctor replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Okay, I think we should have a Round to play with; it should only take two Rounds to switch artifacts, so there would still be time if you and Master Emorith failed to take it out this Round." I attack the Tygurah twice from the Back Row with my Darksteel Crossbow. -

"Better idea: I can just swap you the Quiver of Poisoning for the Cobweb Cowl." I give Benji the Quiver of Poisoning for the Cobweb Cowl, then attack the Tygurah from the Back Row with my Darksteel Crossbow. OoC: I'm not sure if I have to spend another turn to equip it, though. Doesn't really matter; I have time. "Master Emorith, take Rattlesnakes A and C. Master Unth'or, take Rattlesnake E. Master Nihai, the Mountain Goat twice." -
Heroica RPG - Unlimited Quest: Fields of Glory
Brickdoctor replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
"But if it's targeted, then it doesn't get a Free Hit, and being at such low HP, it's a relatively safe target for Master Emorith to attack. We can Counterstrike it to death next Round of Master Emorith rolls Constrict with that action." -
All the details are great, all the custom decals and braid and cape are great, the adaption of a figure to a new scale is great as always, but what I really like about this model is the color scheme. Sand green, dark green, brown, tan, light bley, dark bley, silver, black, white, dark red, bright blue, bright yellow - I think you've really made the details and the overall used universe look really pop with all the different colors (and accurate ones, too, as far as I can tell) in this figure.

Are Star Wars MOC Builders becoming a dying breed?
Brickdoctor replied to HJR-Holland's topic in LEGO Star Wars
No no, I know what you mean. I'm in basically the same position, just that I actually have been building fantasy/historic of late. (Though more so because of Heroica than because of The Hobbit.) I don't think any of us are concerned about the known longtime Star Wars builders. At least I certainly am not. Speaking from experience, I know that the longtime builders do eventually want to build some other themes. What I'm seeing is a lack of new Star Wars builders at the same time that a lot of the old builders are experimenting with other themes or taking breaks because of real life/lack of resources, which is creating this MOC drought. I think these new members and builders are coming here, seeing a lot of other pretty good looking themes and also seeing that TLG's newer Star Wars sets are improving, and deciding that it's better to collect lots of sets from lots of themes rather than collecting a few sets and building what they want to own instead. Interest divided between multiple themes and not much interest in MOCs to begin with (as is the case with most new fans). -
In my experience it's very widespread. It's easier to say than "1x1 round plates", plus they're called "studs" in all the TT video games. (Or maybe that's just because the theme forum I mainly read is for a theme for which there are a lot of those games.)

And it doesn't help that Marvel and Lord of the Rings is being kind of awesome right now, either. Both in the theater and in the previously oft-wished-for LEGO sets. -
Heroica RPG - Unlimited Quest: Fields of Glory
Brickdoctor replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Good work. I've got the Tygurah again. Master Carvenhall has Rattlesnake A. Master Emorith, finish off Rattlesnake B and then attack Rattlesnake C. Master Unth'or, get Mountain Goat A, twice. Master Nihai, Mountain Goat B twice." I attack the Tygurah twice from the Back Row with my Darksteel Crossbow. "Order should be myself, myself, Master Carvenhall, Master Emorith, Master Unth'or, Master Nihai, Master Unth'or, Master Nihai, Master Emorith." -
I did? That would make sense; I had some images prepared way ahead of time for that quest.

I don't think I've ever shown Sandy a set before hosting. I sent a big outline in for Quest 4. For Quest 17 I said, "I have this idea for a mechanic and want to host a quest," and Sandy said, "Okay." Zeph pitched the Dastan Trilogy for me.

I think I remember seeing you on there, except that you had said you were in the same place as I was, and your little marker ended up behind mine, so unless you zoom in a lot closer to San Francisco, you can't see it on the map.
