SONE (free build) Imperial Tie flight sim time!
Brickdoctor replied to Fuppylodders's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
I like the concept; it's a great introduction for a character who in-universe might just be sitting on a Star Destroyer waiting to go into battle for the first time. And I like the fact that it looks like it could work, with the hoses and the shock absorbers holding up the cockpit resembling a TIE/ln cockpit. Steps are nicely done as well. I don't think you've done that extremely poorly with the pieces you did use. If you have the pieces for it, I would try smoothing out that cockpit by using some more, differently angled slopes, or maybe try using a Lowell Sphere-based solution. I'm not sure if it was what you intended or not, but don't be afraid to make it look like a vignette instead of an immersive set! A more squared-off base, a white background, more and brighter light sources — they won't look like you're 'there' as a viewer, but it can look less like you might have run out of pieces and it'll be easier to see the MOC. Don't worry if you can't build the walls — just make the vignette a little smaller so they would be 'outside' the boundaries of the MOC! It's not as complete, but it's a more refined look. -
On the other hand, it could be labeled as just a generic Wookiee Warrior. ...though as much sense as that might make, I would not be surprised if TLG named it and made some slight changes so that it could be an exclusive minifig.
-
That, I think, can be considered a slightly different case: he was a minor character and he looks much like a regular pilot. (Probably still would've been a better choice to use the generic helmet with the blue crests and not name him, but he's not a distinctly different-looking, more important supporting character, as Boss Nass is.)

Heroica RPG - Quest #77: Your Elves are Better than Ours
Brickdoctor replied to Brickdoctor's topic in The Heroica Archive
QM Note: How to interpret this... you can't affect those in a battle without being in the battle, and you can't leave a battle without Fleeing or using a Smoke Bomb, and you're not Hastened so you can't do stuff in the battle once you enter it this Round, so... "The glorious elves do not require the assistance of a human! You would be wise to listen to your companion, or I will deal with you after I have dealt with this impudent dwarf." Results of Round Six of the Brawl in the Dragon's Head: >Throlar Wineghilm vs Baelanith - Special Damage (Elven Healing; +5 HP to Baelanith) Lord Lawrence Boomingham enters the battle Nerwen Calmcacil enters the battle As Lawrence and Nerwen try to get between you and Lord Baelanith, the elf steps back from you and heals himself, his hand growing stronger as he grips his sword. The Enemies: Baelanith Humanoid Level: 5 Health: 12/12 Defense: 1 Special I: Elven Harming - Baelanith's elven reflexes and precision allow him to find a weak spot in the target's defenses, and he deals 10 Damage. Special II: Elven Healing - Baelanith's elementary knowledge of elven healing techniques allows him to restore 5 HP to himself. Drops: Elven Sword Note: Specials alternate. Baelanith's broken fingers decrease his current HP and his ability to wield a sword effectively. If healed to full HP, his Level will increase back to 5. We have never had a rumor with a definitive source of such a set on EB before...and this still doesn't have a clear source. It's just a set that people appear to be talking about as something they want. I haven't seen anyone post about it on EB with a source for where they got the rumor other than this 'other people are talking about it'.

[SONE Free build] Dispatched to ...
Brickdoctor replied to Sebeus I's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Very nice. I like the integration of the seats into the walls combined with the tile-with-bar pieces. The typical dropship bay look is executed well. I'm a little confused as to how this fits in with the character progression of a Stormtrooper based on Nar Eurbrikka...but I suppose that that remains to be seen.- 12 replies

Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka — Introduction and Discussion

Index updated...I think I got everyone this time. -
It is an exclusive. You can't get it any way other than when TLG releases them as promos.

Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka — Introduction and Discussion
Brickdoctor replied to Brickdoctor's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Not in definite terms like that. But the actions your character performs in your builds should be appropriate to rank, so commanding troops might not be appropriate for your rank. We want to stay away from strict ranks and leave it up to the builders to creatively interpret what they'd be allowed to do. You can always ask us if what you want to do would be all right if you're unsure. As long as you don't portray the character as being a commando or a strike team member (as the torso was intended to be by TLG when printed), then I think you'll be fine. -

You should probably wait to see what your exact mission is, and the try to think of ways that you can work towards the goal without actually fighting Stormtroopers. And you picked Pilot, right? That should make it easier considering that Stormies are land troops. -

As said in the Core Rules and FAQs, only your sig fig may be customized; all other minifigs used must be purist. So since they're not your sig fig, those Stormies would not be accepted, sorry. You could always build something that doesn't involve Stormies, give them new arms and put them in a situation where they don't have helmets, etc. -

It depends on what the judges give you. It's this one. -

According to Wookieepedia, there was an Abyssin even in the cantina during Star Wars, so there shouldn't be any issue of them not fitting in chronologically. But I agree, the Ewok is funnier, though I like the look of the cyclops/Rebel pilot combo. -
Community Build and RPG Introducing: Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka

It was. -
Nice work! I really like the clear Rebellion-esque style of design here. A few curves, very smooth, but it looks functional, with a good balance of the whites and greys. I think some more greebly bits might improve it even more, both to make it look more 'used universe' and to give it a sort of sophistication in building techniques that lots of printed pieces can't always provide.

No, sorry for the confusion; I meant a two week period between episodes. Give us time to judge, award prizes, prepare for the next episode, do some free builds ourselves, etc. -

Hopefully there'll be one every two months. Right now we're thinking something like a two week period between episodes similar to the one week sign up period we have now, with episodes being a month and a half long. -

Maybe, but probably not. We'll be awarding tags for each episode; they'll each be unique to their episode and will be related to the episode. -
(sone free build) Raiding the ruins
Brickdoctor replied to Legofin2012's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Nice work with more color this time — tan, black, greys, dark tan, sand green; I like it a lot better than your last MOC. I also like the combination of the smooth, studded, curved, and angled sand. Like Erdy said, I think it could make it a lot easier to see your MOCs with better lightning. I'd lower the camera angle on the overall view, and also try to find a larger source of light so the harsh camera flash doesn't have to be used. Yes, all free builds are scored. But we have to give the judges time to get scores in. Usually we'll try to get you a score within 24 hours. -
