  1. Unless you're in sunlight, or at the limit of the remote, IR receiver command 'misses' are pretty rare for two receivers placed very close together. I have PF technic MOCs with the receivers adjacent, and there's no problem. Unless you run one motor reversed against the other, there's no harm. Two motors at slightly different speeds is no problem, you'll just get inconsistent battery drain between the two. Even one motor stopped and the other running is not likely harmful, most DC motors can be run as generators, and there is protection (thermal, current?) which would prevent damage to the powered motor. My kids run trains with mixed PF / RC trains on the point, or with rear pushers, and they run Horizon Express with the receivers separated by 4 coaches. The worst that happens is stacking up the train on curves when the rear engine is pushing harder/faster.
  2. Build the 42009 B-model, it's interesting and playable
  3. It's neat, it's cheap and easy to buy, my 3 year old likes it. Not a lot more to say
  4. +0.5. I'm not disappointed, but the three big sets are all 'meh' or 'blah'. The small sets all look great imho. Maybe it's just self-deception I'm pulling...small sets are much cheaper
  5. to these. My guess is that the lime accents on the police car mimic Batternburg markings https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battenburg_markings
  6. This was an absolute favourite when I was a kid, spent so long posting letters in the box on the outside and then opening it inside the building. Mind blown. But if this was in the current Lego line, some AHOLs would be all over it with "omfg, what is this excuse for a building? Lego is dying, my collection is worthless". http://brickset.com/...2-1/Post-Office Topic: derailed, again. To be fair to the perspective of some AHOLs, the 2015 line up on the Lego store right now contains almost zero buildings that aren't police or fire related. It's not so much "Lego City" as "Lego Parking Lot". But eh, I have short fuse for AHOLs using 'we' to project their personal wish list as being for everyone. My kids couldn't care less what those people want.
  7. WTF Building your own Lego creations is now kit-bashing? You have to cross the themes? This isn't HO model railroading or Playmobil. It's a construction toy. All the bricks fit together in endless ways. All of them. This forum is full of fans whining whining whining about Lego haven't made me this and Lego haven't made me that. Maybe the biggest mistake Lego are making is not putting "you are allowed to make your own creations" right on the box. Whining mindless unimaginative over-grown men-babies with too much money to spend "collecting" a children's toy. Seriously. Look at me, hero of arguing on the internet.
  8. I was enjoying the pastry products tbh. More of that.
  9. Yup, your comments are insightful. I am shocked and surprised that capitalism works this way.
  10. On the plus side, there is an absence of idiots demanding pictures, and an absence of people being mad at those idiots for bumping the thread, and nobody is flaming anyone and there's a bit of humour about it all. So eh. I dunno.
  11. Don't just describe your sausage rolls, I need pictures. TBH, City theme has much better standard of people whining that they don't have pictures yet, and Trains have taken it to a whole new level, they're not getting any 2016 stuff, so now they're just making up fantasy descriptions. Technic is way behind that. So unfair.
  12. FFS, there is no right to leaked pictures. It's just plastic bricks.
  13. It's not "no one". A few people giving their opinion in a forum isn't everyone who bought that set.
  14. If it helps, I can definitely manage to wait for sets I can't buy until 2016 anyway. Although what would happen if I just couldn't wait? Imagine. How terrible would that be?
  15. Where one motor drives each wheel there is no need for any differential effect (electronic or mechanical), the model will drive just fine in turns.
  16. I dunno, sometimes I find that Lego bricks can be put together in more ways than just the instructions that come in the set. I know the community doesn't like this 'unofficial' use, some use the derogatory term 'MOC' for it. I feel bad because I know so-called 'MOCs' are damaging the community by lowering the resale value of rare MISB sets. I dunno, I just picked up the habit from my kids. I've tried to stop them combining the bricks in new ways, but they just don't listen.
  17. So that's a solved problem then. Just build the one in your picture?
  18. - avoid flex track - add a second motor (you'll need a PF switch to reverse polarity to one of the motors).
  19. Eh isn't the answer to that obvious? The community is dominated by brainless collectors who dream of the time they can spend in a darkened room, furtively licking the front of a rare MISB set. Some of us just think that Lego is a plastic toy that offers a bit of creative building and is a pain in the bum to tidy up. But we're definitely the weird ones. Eh, is this not Flickr? I might be speaking out of turn. Anyway, here's a Maersk from my 'collection' https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7282/16380772525_d244f10e70_k.jpg Untitled by Andy, on Flickr
  20. Wishlists are not rumours. This thread would be better pre-moderated /grumpy
  21. I nearly called popcorn on the list with the Xerion, the Volvo duck and the bucket wheel excavator, but eh maybe it's plausible... - if there is a bucket wheel, then it will use the clamshell bucket pieces from the Arocs, they are the right profile and attachment points. That will give a guide to size. - there is now a precedent for Lego working with Volvo construction equipment division, and a mid-sized duck (wheeled excavator) set would be a perfect use for both types of the new long v2 pneumatic cylinders. - Lego have put out a number of agricultural set (Technic and city tractors, also the combine set) in Claas green/red/white, no question they were Claas colours. Officially licensing a Xerion (Claas flagship) would make sense. For the record, I built a Xerion moc, but the green just looked vomit-coloured, so I rebuilt as a JCB fastrac. Eh well. So the list might be too-good-to-be-true, a well-executed piece of trolling, but on the other hand there are reasons to believe it.
  22. There is hope until December 31st. Then there is no hope. But hope is all you'll have.
