  1. They use different molds from different materials - what with the factory being built in another country. Even if the plastic used is the same, the surface will have a different shininess & smoothness, (and the printing process could be different too). It has been said by some that the plastic used IS actually the same.
  2. Have you not seen cartoons before? Magic can do anything, haha. Actually this reminds me of Voltron: the entire first season (or more) consisted of witch Haggar turning someone into an enormous Ro-beast, and after nearly killing everyone and destroying the planet, Voltron would eventually slice it to pieces with his blazing sword. The unfortunate soul was either a strong evil warrior or someone harmless & unwilling. Obviously the nightsisters never watched Voltron.
  3. COP THAT!
  4. I would actually disagree with that: there is no plural for "chalk" - there is no singular either. You can't have 1 chalk, 2 chalk / 2 chalks. It's not like sheep: 1 sheep, 2 sheep etc. The key is "1 piece of x" & "2 pieces of x" as opposed to "1 y" & "2 ys" Of course I'm preaching mostly to the converted here (it's the uninformed/ignorant that will continue to say legos regardless of what we say here, as you say, those who learn to say it one way will probably continue to do so)... but hey, it boosts my self-security edit: and I see what you're saying, I'm just nitpicking. A huge "IT IS LEGO NOT LEGOS" campaign would be awesome... add "even [insert unintelligent celebrity here] knows that!"
  5. I didn't actually like this episode, it was just too evil for my liking - and really pushing the kid's show PG with all the neck snapping & strangulation... That said, I appreciate the character & story development that occurred. I do have a few objections: 1) the battle was way too short and low scale - 2 unknown jedi & 10 clones: wow what an epic, obviously this temple was really important to control... 2) what was the point of the "trials"? What did they prove? Nothing. She already picked out the 2 at the start, why didn't she just get them to duel? Also if their magic is so awesome it can turn a fairly tough guy into I-AM-A-ROBOT-I-HEAR-AND-OBEY with supersized horns & superhuman(oid) strength, why couldn't they just pick up Joe off the street? They didn't need the gladiator sacrificing. Like I said I didn't enjoy it, but I appreciate the contribution it makes to the over-all story. (ie the end almost justifies the means)
  6. Who knew Amy Allen's favourite movie to watch on a day off was ESB? Good choice I suppose. I'd toss up between that and Backstroke of the West.
  7. Holy crap! If they ARE orange dresses, I hope they're on backwards there, because they don't look like they cover the important areas - no way my daughters are going out in one of those! Or staying in for that matter!
  8. It's like "chalk". "I have a full box of chalks" is completely wrong. It's pieces of chalk, or just chalk. Try it that way. Same way many people wrongly call a "tin can" a "tin". It is NOT a tin, it is a can made of tin - therefore "tins" is wrong. It's not legos, it's bricks made of Lego/LEGO. Another one: timber plank. Plank made of timber. You don't call a pile of them timbers, but you call them planks, timber or timber planks.
  9. Just went to my Target - no minifigs, nothing new besides Star Wars battle packs (a fair few of each) and Ninjago starter packs. Very disappointing. They did however have 4 new board games, for some reason I bought the Ninjago one. Lego section is about half the size of what it usually is, and everything at full price.
  10. YES, & THANK YOU. Also, in regard to LEGO v Lego v lego, if it is spoken as a word it should be in lower case as the rule. If it is an acronym (it isn't) it should be in upper case. If it is spoken as word & is a proper noun (a name) it should be lower case with a capital letter. If it is a contraction (it is: leg godt) it should have apostrophe in the appropriate place. A logo can be in whatever case/punctuation you want, but an invented word as a brand name... ?
  11. We (AU+NZ) are being ripped off to the max... Even though the Aussie dollar is 1-1 with US dollar our prices are much closer to double than equal. Looks like Mr Internet is going to be supplying my Lego this year - even after postage it's way cheaper.
  12. "Hear, hear" as in "listen to this man, he tells the truth" I bought a BD drive for my computer and some nice monitors a year ago, but couldn't find any Blu-Rays that I'd truly appreciate to play on it until late last year. So far all I have is seasons 1&2 of The Clone Wars. Waiting (until seemingly 25th Century) for the extended LOTR & for Star Wars.
  13. That was the first Lego set I actually owned & had a minifig. (It is SO yellowed now!) Futuron was so... futuristic...
  14. Not much satisfaction of revenge if she just snipes him down? I found it interesting to watch the bonus material on The Clone Wars Blu-Rays, Dave brings a similar thing up a few times, especially in regard to Mandalorians. George Lucas created 1 character (Boba), all these other people came up with heaps of (Mandalore) EU and Dave gets asked to somehow include it in the show but get it to fit George's idea of what it would be like. (Then the people familiar with EU kick up a stink because it's incompatible with how they saw it!)
  15. I think the question was about the method of Ventress et al attempted assassination of Dooku, not the reasoning behind Dooku's (incorrectly assumed as successful) elimination of Ventress.
  16. Was waiting for Dooku to use force lightning BTW...
  17. Ahhhhhh now I get it!
  18. AVP2 was just like all the movies I used to watch with the boys back in high school. Blood & guts, predictable outcome. I still liked it, but it wasn't what I hoped it would be - as such I've not seen it since.
  19. I like Johnny Depp's straight acting characters, but Jack Sparrow is the only other one of his I like, the others (I can recall) are too over-the-top quirky to me. Alice In Wonderland was the worst by far. Really weirded me out.
  20. Haha the claws are out now ROWR! Take that!
  21. Raid VPR from my sister/BIL "I hope you haven't already got it" (I already had 4... but it was the perfect choice for one I already had, plus there isn't a set I don't have that I want - yet) First time since 1997ish receiving Lego for Christmas.
  22. Dots?! That gets my hopes up for finding an elf when these hit the shelves over here... I bought the space villain & alien on BL, I have to say that the alien doesn't look as good as the SP3 aliens do. I agree, the black blaster for the space pirate is the better of the 3. I'm very pleased about the peg-leg, visor and helmet colours too. Would like to create an army of them, but perhaps with normal arms, legs & face? Thanks for the detailed review!
  23. That's a thought. Tractor beam light? Pretty cool feature I suppose...
  24. In regard to KDM's question and the discussion, I would like to add my own personal perspective. I recently purchased some Atlantis figures, as I don't have the room or money to buy all the sets, but I like the figures so I bought them separately. I have no intention ever of buying the sets - even though they look pretty cool. I have entertained the same notion for Jedi figures, as I'm not a SW Lego buyer either. The high prices attached to some of these figures has meant that I haven't done this yet, if I ever do. I know some people will buy sets for certain parts/minifigs and sell off the rest or use it for MOCs. I'm not one for stocking up on parts for MOCs either, but maybe you (the reader) are and therefore would still benefit from buying the set rather than just the bits you want.
  25. Yes, I found Johnny Depp's Wonka extremely disturbing, I did not find the movie entertaining or funny at all. Gene Wilder was a bit scary as Wonka, but more in a quirky way rather than "I, the viewer, feel VERY uncomfortable - stay away from my children". The whole Christopher Lee dentist crap made the movie all wrong. The new Charlie was fine however. Haven't read the book for many years so I don't recall how the newer movie compares to it.
