  1. No one from the south or west anyway. I'd make the roof brown. Also raise the watchtower a few bricks, as it currently is you could see better standing on the hut roof or beacon.
  2. Solid effort. The tower is good, the snow is good, the path is good but the road could do with some more detail - then it would be even better!
  3. A WIP that I'm trying to get right. It was originally going to be the watchtower, but very early on it became clear that there weren't enough of the right parts available to me - new plan was make it a ruin and use as much of the wall pieces to make it look like a tower. I think the top half sucks (a lot is out of picture)... so I will probably get rid of most of the tower section and just make it a bridge ruin MOC, I will have to do something else for a real watchtower. Background story: built right where the rocks meet the swamp. Typical Orcitecture, bad location to build! What happens is when the sludge moves, bits fall off. The bridge is crumbling from the bottom, much of it has sunk into the mud. The piles were driven well, at least! Long abandoned as a base / strategic position, a small band have been stationed as watch - there is no guarantee that it will still be standing tomorrow. This was the only photo I took that the focus operated correctly - it is of the "back" bottom 2/3.
  4. You can use grey to symbolise concrete or steel etc vs brown to symbolise wood - but all Lego weighs the same. A 1x2 plate of "moss" weighs the same as a 1x2 plate of "solid gold". Put a weight in there, you goose.
  5. It's very original, it doesn't look very realistic but it does look pretty cool!
  6. I know exactly what you mean, I built a huge catapult that looked cool and had a great independent action, but because of bad engineering design didn't fire very far so I now want to built a crap looking "flick-fire-ish" one that fires a good distance... I used a ball-bearing in my catapult (same thing) to add to the counterweight. It satisfactorily increased the speed of the action edit: and your trebs look great
  7. Each guild received a post issued from the King (via staff) on Friday. Check page 10. Also as far as I am aware, there isn't any allegiance or alliance or anything, just that the guilds aren't allowed to raid/attack etc each other. (But we can probably still verbally stir each other )
  8. Thanks for sharing! That was really insightful and clever.
  9. It shouldn't be, that's the RRP for the SW calendar - and it's a licenced one.
  10. The topic title made me laugh on its own... but then seeing the tardis? Brilliant! Love the stone work too.
  11. Haha Me too, but it's not all we're capable of here in the East. I will have my more proficient builders construct something smaller and easier to produce in number as well.
  12. Unlikely, as we are at peace - and the King has decreed anyone defying his orders is in deep poos. It is more likely that you have enemies within your own ranks from your own land. FRAMED! It's a set-up! Treacherous lying Mitgardian trying to get us law abiding citizens in trouble!
  13. Nice little lookout, I like all the inclusions you have added - but not much point trying to camouflage it as the stench of orc filth would give away its position a mile away!
  14. Thanks guys, and you're right Lordofdragonss, it looks like horrible workmanship, but it's functional. And that is all they really care about here - that and the fear it instills in the enemy. Only a face a mother could love... haha. I'm new to this "buying sets for parts to build MOCs then pull them apart to make new ones" business - unfortunately I'll need to pull this apart to build the watchtower, and I'm less than thrilled with the idea so far!
  15. trebuchets... I love machines that can launch projectiles or smash stuff, although it's a shame that yours can't. Looks great, mate - and I like the usage of the hood as the sling pouch.
  16. (Cheers! The face was actually an afterthought - I added it during construction. It does fire... hence the 2:30am bedtime trying to get it to shoot a decent distance. Unfortunately due to the design flaw I'd have to start again to get it to fling well. I wanted it to be one where you pull out the stopper and it goes by itself rather than flick fire, so it was never going to shoot far anyway. It takes 3 trolls to hold it down, the weight is quite heavy. Take 1 away and WHACK off she goes.) Your oil is something we could certainly do with in due time... perhaps you would be interested in some of our minerals... gemstones... gold? It would certainly add to the charm of your fine cities, sparkling in the sun...
  17. It's a great tower, and looks a pretty good template for building lighthouses. Interesting technique, unfortunately the shadow in the gaps detracts from the look. Perhaps in full light it looks a bit better. The landscape is great, the camera view from low down side on is perfect forced perspective for the background mountains. Excellent strategic location for a watchtower, so much warning time afforded (except during a fierce blizzard - but who would advance during that?). The intelligence of the men in the North is indeed worthy of note.
  18. Orgmuk, the veteran Nocturnus catapult has been officially approved for recommissioning by Arcanis I. He certainly isn't pretty, nor is he robust in construction. He is however, effective, and has long served those that have depended on him. Battle scarred, neglected during peace times and on many occasions slap-job reinforced - he certainly has character. More pics & narration in separate topic above.
  19. Arcanis I re-presents the veteran catapult Orgmuk for the battlefield should he be required. He's seen plenty of action throughout the history of Historica, and razed many enemy structures. He uses the gravity of a heavy counterweight at the front to send projectiles hurtling forward. He is multi-purpose, can be used as a siege tower, and the counterweight as a sledgehammer. Out of commission during the times of peace, and battle scarred he looks a bit worse for wear. Nocturnus requires siege weapons if it is to have any say in the result of any future war - so Orgmuk may be needed once more, but first we need to do some restoration and rigorous testing. Arcanis I has put the task to his trusted officer Cal-Un-Owen's men to organise Orgmuk's recommissioning, with the help of Drazgortu who is overseeing the brutes. As Orgmuk is so big and heavy, strong trolls are required for movement and operation. Cal-Un-Owen: "First time I've seen a troll using his head... " Drazgortu: "Please place yourself inside the barrel for the demonstration " "Work, you sluuugs! " It certainly is a rickety old thing, it's seen plenty of action. Arcanis I comes to inspect progress Cal-Un-Owen: "Orcs, we don't need their scum! Why so many?" Arcanis I: "We need them to keep the trolls in check " Drazgortu: "Master, we believe Orgmuk is ready for demonstration!" Arcanis I: "Then let's see it in action! " poor quality video demo It's a rough ride during action, but those unlucky enough to be forced into it have a good vantage point for firing bolts or arrows on the enemy while the catapult is being loaded. Doubles as a small siege tower, in fact the counterweight can be used as a sledgehammer to completely destroy smaller structures up close Orgmuk's coming to town...
  20. Awwwwwww... I was hoping for a recreation of "clever girl" as part of the review
  21. Weird, I know. Whitecap Bay... 2 sprues of (if I recall correctly) the original gold that came in sets from the late 80s onwards in Pirate & Castle sets. Definitely the shiny metallic stuff, definitely on a sprue, pretty sure it was the 10 20 30 40 one side, LEGO the other coins. According to the instruction booklet inventory, the set should've contained 1x pack of bar+coins (metallic or otherwise). According to the missing parts form on Lego.com there are no coins or gold at all in this set.
  22. Glad I wasn't the only one with no idea who this fellow was.
  23. It's only a watchtower, not a fortress. Only needs to be for keeping an eye open. Make it impenetrable if you deem necessary...
