  1. Although there were quite a few great entries, I have a clear favourite: 2 points go for 20) Skater Boy Entry (Build by Noodles140) - this is so hilarious! I still can't stop smiling about this great idea. Well done! and another point for 54) Magician Entry (Build by Skalldyr) . - the classic saw-trick, I just love it. Very nicely converted.
  2. He is talking about the new train motor (it seems there is no item no. for it up to now...) But this is how it looks like (completely assembled side shields and magnet): It's easy how to distinguish the motors: This one comes with the cable assembled to the body. The new motor is said to be more effective than the older ones, but the PF-M motor is more versatile. So it all depends on what you are planning to do: If it is just for trains I would definitely go for the new train motor, if you are not sure to use it otherwise, well, then I would recommend the PF motor.
  3. No one said it was the same. Both reviews of the freight train 7939 pointed out it was driven with AAA batteries. But good to see photos of the interior nevertheless! The Li-Ion box itself is sold for >50€ (in Germany), so this was clear by looking just at the price of the train sets that these will never be sold with a rechargeable battery box. The recommended way of charging the battery boxes is: 8878 with 8887 and the new box? Take out the batteries and do it with a 'standard' charger.
  4. This is one issue I completely forgot to tell in my review. Nevertheless it IS annoying and I'm with you here: The better way is keeping the screw off the box! Thanks for pointing this out.
  5. No it does not. (I thought the same and was proven wrong by my first wrestler).
  6. Ha - I will! Erbarmen - zu spät... (you know how this continues ) Very nice story you have told us. I can imagine - it's the best time to play with Lego and Lego wasted it in their Dark Ages with KK and Jack Stone and stuff like that. Nevertheless, good to see you found your way back on the track! Welcome to EB - enjoy your time. And feel free to ask about anything that is unclear.

But the truck cab is just 4 studs wide. I don't think it's the TRU exclusive (and Bricksets says its similar to 3221).
  8. Mmmmh. I have NO idea. For me it looks like "Boule" or something like that - not even close to a computer game. Or marble madness? (Damn - that spoiler code doesn't work )
  9. Happy birthday Siegfried and all the best from the other side of the world! One of the few members I have the date noticed in my calendar... I hope you had... err... wait - you already had a great day, looking at the gifts you got. The photo lets me count the days to your next birthday!

    I doubt he did it...
  11. Very nice indeed! I'm not sure about the back side with all those big plates, but the rest of the three sides makes up for it!
  12. Did we get the same? The same for me please: +1 Stash (with a big ) +1 Dennis plus the swap I mentioned some weeks ago: +1 for commdr_neyo.
  13. Very good MOCs in here! And a hard decision whom to give the points to. For me it ended in splitting the points to the following contestants: 3. greg3's Persian Post Station 7. pedro's Karaban ~ The Sand-cloud City 16. Fugazi's Persian Grocer I wished I could have given more points ... Thanks all the contestants in participating!
  14. Happy birthday, Roadwalker! I'm sure you will be one of the few who won't get any bricks on their birthday, will you? Have a great day nevertheless!
  15. Sorry for my late reply guys - I was just some days off and now everything is getting out of hand here... This is what I always thought. If I recall correctly, something similar was written in the instructions of set 8275. There are 4 channels and 2 "turntables" operating all in all up to 8 trains. (This will become a lot of work if you really try to do so - you have to switch to the different channels over and over again. ) You're right, this is actually old news, but that was the only information that is printed on the sides of the box.
  16. You want me to look inside the RC unit??? No - no way. But you're right, theunits look completely the same from the outside. That is what I think, too.
  17. One of the better impulse sets and definitely on my to-buy-list. And I agree with you, without the piglet, it would have gotten a "below average". Thanks for the review!
  18. I found the wonderful pic of the multiple-tanker-train again: (click to enlarge) One more thought: I'm astonished, that TLC didn't hint at the possibility to use lights in the set! There's nothing in the instructions that makes you think of integrating any more functions. Once again, TLC has missed a chance to sell more (LED sets 8870) and to increase the playing experience of the set. I really wonder (and I don't understand to be honest) why they let this big chance go by.
  19. Thank you so much for bringing this awesome new pics, grogall! Now can we have the codes as well?
  20. The numbers indicates they were exclusives. I have bought all of them on the 2nd hand market, so I can't tell, but I cannot remember having seen them in regular toy shops. So this may add to the bad sales. I'm still loading the rechargeable battery - stay tuned! ******************************************************************************** But now ladies and gentlemen, please listen up to an important update, thanks to freddies question: ******************************************************************************** There is a possibility (intentionally added by TLC!) to light up the train! The train-front-brick comes with 4 nice little holes (which I completely overlooked ). These holes perfectly fit with the LED lights (8870). You may even put 4 lights next to each other! Now I wanted to check how to build the train with the lights inside. I took the locomotive apart again and now a flash stroke me: That was the reason TLC used red 1x4x2 arches in the structure! You can easiliy guide the cables underneath the arches and direct them to the IR receiver. So clever! Place the two connectors to the left hand side of the receiver (next to the cable that leads to the motor) and you can put on the lights by using the right wheel on the RC device! I'm still sooooo delighted to see that this really works. And there is still room for more lights! This is how it looks like: Nightshift ON!
  21. The main problem about your suggestion is that TLC did exactly this: They sold the cars from the "My Own Train"-theme seperately. There was the 10013 Open Freight Wagon 10014 Caboose 10015 Green Passenger Wagon 10016 Tanker 10017 Hopper Wagon All were sold from 2001 to around 2004. If I recall correctly, TLC never made a lot of money on these. They didn't sell well.
  22. Latest version of Firefox running on 1280 x 1024 pixels (due to 19" monitor) I'm planning an upgrade to 24" and 1920 x 1080 though.
  23. I'll take a photo of that tomorrow. The speed and pulling power are still to be figured out, but my two sons are already waiting to start their analysis. Regarding the motor I found this over here: „... the new LPF Train Motor looks much like the former from the outside, it has been reengineered from the inside. It has more motor power and is more efficient. The new train runs as long on AAA batteries as the former did on AA batteries.“ Whatever that will mean in the end... I didn't try so far, but my estimation would be "Yes!". I'll keep you updated. Thanks for the heads-up, Melfice! Used in 1996, 1997, 2001, 2008 & 2009! I've never seen it before... Now we finally know how this triangular-whatever-thing is called: Wedge, Plate 8 x 6 x 2/3 with Grill. Phew!
  24. Thanks so far. I forgot to post one more picture! All cargo engines from 2000-2010 compared: (once again click on the pic to receive a bigger photo)
