Technic Flatbed Truck
Seluryar replied to Seluryar's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
i am thinking of using an old style technic beam and placing a 4x8 flat plate to is as i think 4x8 is the largest i have(i only have 3 lego sets in my collection so my parts are limited((im not taking the lambo polizia apart for pieces)) -
a few days ago, i had the urge to try and build something that did not require instructions. progress pics in order: first draft, wanted to make a bus out of this, but then realized i wouldnt know how to make the kind of doors i wanted seats added, was originally gonna keep the steering in the middle of the truck after trying to figure out that i dont know how to mount the steering wheel in cab in a way that it would control the steering of the wheels, i chose this spot to place the steering and here is how it is set up now, i am in no way finished with this yet, id like to add a non-functional engine behind the cab and then i need to secure the bed of the truck to the rear of the vehicle and add more of a grill to the front of the cab

Need an advice - 8258 vs 8110
Seluryar replied to peter_m's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
dont really have a choice if its within the next few days since the unimog doesnt seem to be out yet -
Syn, i believe he might be more interested in the extension springs on that website since he may not have the tools required to make the loops at both ends of the spring

here is what i currently use as storage: 1 gallon storage bags as a temporary storage system currently, most of the lego i own can fit onto a package thingy that my old modem was delivered in: the original plan was to use bags for every set i own, but then i decided it might be simpler to have one bag for each color as opposed to 2 bags per color(1 bag per color per set, only own 2 technic sets so far)

8258 Crane truck B model
Seluryar replied to Seluryar's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
added a gear to the axle that goes from the motor to the engine to catch the existing gear below it from the original model so that the wheels move as well as the engine pistons. as i have done this, i noticed that it is possible to strip some gears, so i have raised the rear wheels off of the ground so that the model can stay in place while being operated. i wish to purchase whatever is needed to make it remote controllable -
Can LEGO be damaged by heat/cold extremes?
Seluryar replied to Hyun's topic in General LEGO Discussion
i would only worry if you have some power functions or similar sets sitting out there, i dont know if the cold will do anything to the metal inside, but be careful when warming them up- 77 replies

8043 vs 8258
Seluryar replied to davidmull's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
if you are going with 8258, then i believe that the lego online store has the best price for it -
i always thought that size of the box didnt matter for pricing and that what you pay for is the weight of the box

Seluryar replied to Seluryar's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
did not modify the lambo at all, but, it just barely fits between the 2 beams sticking up on the edges -
8258 Crane truck B model
Seluryar replied to Seluryar's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
made a little trailer for this truck, started out with the instructions, but then turned away from them within a few steps. again, i only used pieces that came with the set. -
8258 Crane truck B model
Seluryar replied to Seluryar's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
i have gone and made a few alterations. turned the battery box around for easier access. and i have added 2 universal joints to the axle from the motor to the engine as one of these images will show that theres an angle between the motor and engine sorry about the quality of this last image but it still shows the angle this modification was using only pieces from the set it came in -
i like this truck, but i havent had a chance to build the trailer, i dont think i will build it any time soon. i added the motor to the inside of the truck to power the engine, but not the wheels, but this was the intention. then i added the battery box to the rear and then added a cover to the back of the truck. this is my first modification to a technic model . the battery box is controlled by the axle sticking out the top at an angle, i have also mounted the front wheel turner a little higher, but there is some friction when turn the wheels due to the proximity of the battery box

i have made my first purchase regarding storage for my small Lego "collection", i purchased some Glad Big Bowls that you can get from grocery stores, but these will be used only for pegs and other small pieces that come with Technic sets
