8041 Race Truck modded
Seluryar replied to Seluryar's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
more work done on it, added a PF battery box in case i want to motorize the engine at a later time, and i got rid of the colorful flatbed and added sides to it then i made some cargo for it, which does nothing to the main model but gives it something to put on the back of it -
yesterday, i found out i had most of the parts required to build 8041 - Race truck, although i did not have the elements with the right colors. so i set forth to build this truck, but with the determination that it would not be the original truck by the instructions. the first goal was to make it into a box truck of some sort, but i then knew i wouldnt have enough pcs to build the cargo area. then i decided it would be a flatbed, but with an extended rear with an additional axle. areas i wish to improve: flatbed deck, would like to make it a single color along with raised edges interior of the cab and the rear side of the cab.

8109 flatbed truck

Cypr-21, i do not know if you put this on your model, but i assume that the gear knob thingy on the side will be used to move the platform over the cab of the truck with the use of worm screws and http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3743 -

Cem, i notice in some of your photos, there is dust, you could use a pillow case as a temporary cover to help keep dust off of your WIP -

decided to make it into a shop of some sort, still not sure what kind, but i have plenty of time to figure that out. added solar panels to the roof along with a generator and battery array(for both going green and backup) as well as retractable awnings to the front of the store for outdoors sales added a delivery dock and storeroom to the rear i like this addition, but am unsure as to what should go in there

my part inventory is limited, but i think it looks good. added grey stripes(would have prefered white but i dont have any) tried to fill in some gaps, mostly on the hood area and trunk. changed the front turn signals and added a license plate and something to give it a hood ornament side view added a third brake light and reverse lights, still not sure what to do with its ugly butt, but i have plenty of time to worry about that later, raised the HOG steering wheel so i can put some beams in to close the trunk up a bit it was mentioned in the other supercar thread that i should do 1 beam wide grey stripes, but unfortunately i didnt have the required red beams to do so hope you enjoyed this project!

i modified mine a little, i do not care for an open hood, so i added some beams to close it off: i also added a switch in the front seat to make opening and closing functions easier to use -
