  1. Thanks very much for the comments, and very glad that it brought LT out of his low mood! It is a very distinctive building, and something that could easily be adapted into a set, so I couldn't help but have a go at building it.
  2. B-OM-3E This building was one of the "modular" buildings featured in my AFOLcon display earlier this year, which was inspired by my all-time favourite episode of Kitchen Nightmares USA. I thought I'd showcase it here before it gets decommissioned. "When I first arrived here, we got off to a shaky start... ...and then we kept our heads down, and we got through it together. And we made some really exciting changes. The menu's changed, the staff have changed. Mate, there's one thing that hasn't changed in this establishment. And that's...you, Sabe. "I'm 40 years of age, and I've gone to a lot of restaurants - but I've never, ever, ever, ever met someone I believe in as little as you. "I think that you will go back to your sloppy, shortcut, five-out-of-ten frozen ways. *pat* Good luck." "Unbelievable. $@#%! useless." "Are you $@#%! kidding me? Are you $@#%! kidding me right now?!" "This is MY $@%#! LIFE!" ("Oh my gawd...") "... Let's... not... eat here." More photos in the Brickshelf folder.
  3. Welcome to the show! It's a shame you're dispatching with your collection, but it would be interesting to see what you have.
  4. It's something I really wish I could go into. Since weapons are just about cornered, I would look at producing simple but contemporary minifigure accessories, such as bags/suitcases/briefcases, scrolls, hats, hairstyles and other potentially useful things. It would be awesome if someone started producing foliage.
  5. My Liverpool haul was as follows: Five torsos (three S1 Cheerleader, two plain yellow) and an S5 Graduate on Saturday evening. Two brick calendars (853195), two Ramses Return games, one BAM pack, another S5 Graduate and two large PAB cups earlier today. Almost bought Fallingwater. Ended up getting two of the minifigure pack giveaways, one of which is going in the "vault".
  6. From the Liverpool store, as was mentioned there's pretty much the same assortment of bricks as in other stores over here. Of note were 1x2 and 2x4 plates in tan, 1x4 plates in lime, trans-orange and trans-clear "cheese" slopes and white "skirt" slopes. Very disappointingly they ran out of 4x4 green plates.
  7. Probably the most disappointing things about today: the staff gave out police motorcycles to the first people to queue at the tills, not those at the front of the line outside. The guy at the store I spoke to yesterday wasn't kidding when he said the figures looked nothing like the Beatles, but they're what I came for. I think the middle figure's hairpiece is the most valuable/rare part. And now, I will shut up.
  8. Thank you. Unfortunately I'm guessing that Lennon will be left out, which would be a mistake! I'm on the way to Liverpool right now; if I don't get online tonight then I hope to see some of you tomorrow, and good luck being one of the first few customers. I'm going to be there as early as possible, with a dark green jacket, rucksack and camera bag.
  9. I hope so, for the purpose of getting one for the collection - but I'll bet there'll be two per box, at least initially. The Spartan, Elf, Dwarf and Zombie were all threes (I think).
  10. Four more grab bags from the Lego store (somehow I feel like the main character in Breaking Bad). I got all the non-Hero Factory bags, and although the parts weren't as amazing as over the weekend, there were some very useful unique parts (3x3 slope in Sand Green, and a bush in Dark Tan, for example).
  11. Definitely some heads will have to be swapped around, but there are quite a few figures I'll be adding to my collection from this set. Even the Roman (which no doubt will be r... hoarded) looks sweet. Sadly the flamenco dancer is very disappointing, and a candidate for this series' "least successful". Since I was a fan of the S1 Nurse I'm going after the surgeon, but my main draws are the alien, female astronaut and the skateboarder. May also go with the thing with the teddy bear, because although the head looks messed up it really is intriguing. Hopefully the actual figures, once they're photographed, will be more appealing. The robot's "key" looks like it could be an attachment to the neck bracket, would be a very useful part if it's separate and probably a staple of steampunk MOCs.
  12. I should note it's actually http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=33213pb01.
  13. I wouldn't mind. Are you building a house?
  14. My first ever Lego set was Spyrius, but I have a very soft spot for Exploriens.
  15. I would love to see a Space-themed advent calendar - and I don't mean Star Wars. Mot sure how it would work in relation to Christmas, but it would be very interesting to see the end result. Here's hoping someone gets the idea.
  16. I guess we now know what the new Spartan (i.e. the new hoarding figure) is - just hope there's something for me! Based on the list so far the only one I'd collect multiples of are the female astronaut, and perhaps the alien.
  17. Restrained myself to five more grab bags and a S5 Graduate. Some very good parts as a result.
  18. Two grab bags and a large PAB cup from Westfield. I'm going back for two more grab bags, not sure whether it would be worth a trip to Bluewater again (last time it wasn't great).
  19. Excellent work there! I'll have to remember that technique, I might use it one day.
  20. Definitely agree with the lack of sets that catch my eye, as well as the lack of variation in minifigure parts (especially for City sets) - one wonders how they decide which combinations to use. But probably my biggest source of frustration is designing a model in LDD, trying to use as few parts as possible, and making the best use of the parts as I can... only to find that a key part isn't available in a certain colour, or that getting hold of said piece will be expensive. The most recent incident involved a 2x2 convex brick in light bluish grey - fortunately I had one in light grey.
  21. A very detailed laboratory of some sort: desks, storage, scientific equipment, rooms, the works.
  22. I've updated my list of figures for trading: easily the hottest post in the thread. (Just kidding)
