  1. That 'Sherlock Holmes' figure could just as easily be Van Helsing hunting dracula. It could also fit very well with the explorer and pilot. Also wouldn't Lego use a name like 'Slueth' rather than Sherlock Holmes? Unless they've paid for the right to use a particular literary character name. I mean the vampire was called 'Vampire' not Dracula. Also also the 'Zookeeper' looks more like a female companion to the Explorer than a zookeeper to me. I'm half expecting a Tarzan inspired 'King of the jungle' minifig in series 6.
  2. I couldn't disagree more. It costs Lego no more to create a new mould than it does to replace an existing worn out one. Obviously they have to pay someone to design it and create the 3D computer model but after that it's just machine tooled. And over the years Lego will have created many many moulds to make that rattlesnake. Moulds wear out quite quickly due to the heat created during injection moulding. so swapping the rattlesnake for a more generic snake wouldn't be cost prohibitive. Besides which Lego make running changes to bricks all the time. why is changing the shape of an animal any different to changing the design of a brick? Are Lego wasting money by tweaking and changing bricks? Nobody seriously expects a huge amount of new animals but when a very old part like the rattlesnack (which isn't even native to Egypt) is used it isn't right. It's not asking too much to ask for a sleeker rattle-less snake or a dog other than a wolf/german shepherd. Or a colour change or some change in printing on the animal.
  3. Truck stop. There's been a lot of trucks released recently so a truck stop seems logical, with a small Octan filling station and cafe for truckers. Public works depot. Gritting truck and road maintainance truck, office and yard. Snow plough. All this winter village stuff means it snows in Legoland so they'll be needing a plough to clear the roads. Telecoms repair truck. Hasn't been a Telecoms vehicle for a long time so why not now? Is the town/city to do without broadband? lots of computers, (strangely just monitors and keyboards and no system box...), a modern town/city needs good telecommunications. Hospital. I can see a set similarly sized to the new police station. Ambulance bay, reception area and wards. I doubt there'd be an operating room but we can hope. A larger ambulance than the last one. Paramedic car and fast response motorbike. A helicoptor is possible similar to the police and fire ones but hopefully the hospital doesn't have a helipad. those helicoptors are too big for roof landings. I don't think we'll see a zoo. Not in the main city theme. Possibly it could work as a girls theme. I'd rather Lego went with zoo for girls instead of some pink and fluffy gender stereotyping home-maker style stuff or ponies and flowers. I also don't think there will be farm sets as such. I think we'll see farm additions in other ways such as the animals in the Kingdoms sets and the farmer in the Alien conquest set. Or advent calenders/minifig collections/collectible minifigs/creator sets. There's bound to be a house of some sort. Maybe apartments. 16x8 footprint and modular. Probably more cars. Undoubtedly red and yellow but I can hope for any other colour than those. It would be nice to see a car dealership building with various cars and a complimentary car transporter set. Something that's a bit more of a personal wish is a skate/BMX bike park. Brand new BMX bicycle, cool minifigs, decent designs on skateboards and good use of curved pieces for half pipes, ramps and mounds. that's all I got for now.
  4. *sigh* I'm sadly more excited about the civillian figs than the aliens. Though I do like the aliens. I'm in love with the farmer and reporter and have to have the businessman. Which is grand because it seems to me that they'll be fairly abundant on bricklink while people army build aliens.
  5. I really like this. It conveys the bleakness and desolation of an office environment perfectly to me. I like the starkness and unfussy exterior. The dead spaces inside. And the impractical quality of having a huge fountain for show and a tiny elevator matches up to my experiences of office buildings. the juxtaposition of the fountain, symbolising life and freedom and constant movement, against the claustrophobic and stale, stagnant, individualty erasing cubicle workspace is so typical.
  6. No, there's definitely some nerdy whining going on. There's an old adage 'you can't please all of the people all of the time' and this collectible minifigs thing proves it despite Lego doing their best to put out product that appeals to the broadest consumer base possible. And despite the fact that quite clearly some of the minifigs shown aren't the finished article. No-one really cares if someone doesn't buy this figure or the other. It just means more to go round for everyone else. I think the only thing Lego got wrong is calling them collectible minifigs. Using that C word seems to send people of a certain mentality into a Pokemon-esque feeding frenzy. Yes there are 16 per series to collect but nowhere does it say you MUST collect all 16. or do it with every series. The whole thing is just a smorgasbord. pick and choose, grab some, leave some. wait til the next series hunt out the old series. don't take it so seriously.
  7. Uploaded almost all of my doodles to my Photobucket account Though most of them are in a raw state of just pen doodles with no cleaning up or colourisation. Just thought I'd share some ideas. Be kind.
  8. Duuuuude psychadelia rocks! Don't change a thing. Let the sunshine in, dazzle the worlds of your imagination with freedom, peace and love dude. Transcend the box and go with the flow of your creative juices. Let everything be just as it is and no man beast or force interfere or oppress. Lead the way and forge a new pathway to the fountain of universal enlightenment and never follow the herd for the herd will get stuck in a rut but your awesomeness will shine like a billion stars. Glittering and burning like a beacon to lost souls and those who fell by the wayside dude. Build more awesomeness like this dude. Let the colours explode in a spectrum orgasm.
  9. Judge. If it is a judge then finally those city criminals have a higher authority to answer to. Or it could be a town crier. Or something to go with the musketeer from series four like a 17th century dandy or king. If Lego are happy to give space minifigs laser guns and cowboys guns then why not a mobster with a tommy gun? Weapon weilding minifigs run right through Lego's themes. Female with suitcase could be anything. If the Eskimo is an actual Eskimo and not a mountaineer or Polar explorer then I guess it might come with a penguin or have the short fishing rod and a fish. Maybe snow shoes. An Eskimo would be cool but I'd like it to be an explorer or mountaineer.
  10. Zookeeper with small monkey seems iffy. I'd imagine it would be something to do with pirates or adventuring or pet store/vets. Unless it's a hint at an upcoming subtheme of city and it is a zookeeper. Of the ones we've seen I like the boxer and the godzilla suit guy. The clown's pie is interesting from a MOC point of view. Can't see enough of the others to make a judgement. Cleopatra could be cool though.
  11. Much as I love pirates and I do, I'm no longer in a financial position to buy these sets. I will however buy some of the accessories and parts. Gold bar, microfig pirate, globe, bottle, coins, hair, hats, arched window shutter, bucket, black rowing boat. All very lovely in their own right.
  12. I've never liked team sports. Probably something to do with my family being Liverpool FC and Tranmere Rovers FC supporters and being expected to follow suit. I like individual sportsmen and women. Or sports people to be politically correct. As such I follow stuff like track and field events or swimming/diving. Gymnastics. Where it's easy to see the highs and lows of a particular person and follow them as they progress through a years events. It's also interesting to note which people are in for the sake of sport and who is doing it for glory only. I'll support a sportsman but not a glory seeker.
  13. I'm mesmerised by the lime scooter. I like the dark red one too but the lime one leaps at me like the orange one did. I'm loving the lime mushrooms too. They look really toxic. Wish I had some spare cash right now to snap some up. Unfortunately getting a puppy has eaten my savings.
  14. It's a MOC. I've seen that building in a flikr set belonging to a MOC'er.
  15. I'd like to see a fire bike. As much as I love fire engines I've got enough right now. And my purchasing budget has taken a really big cut so I'll be looking for smaller sets. So a Fire bike seems like the perfect thing. Fast response for small and vehicular fires.
  16. I coralled myself a pony foal a while back. Tis very cute. I didn't realise how rare it is until after I got it.
  17. I was thinking more in the 6418: Country Club size. Though obviously better built and with stronger colours.
  18. I'd lay money on a horse stables being the next farm style set. Of all the ideas mentioned it seems the most likely.
  19. The Dalek factory and Cyberconversion sets look very messy and clumsy. The Weeping angel cave is very megabloks cruddy. I hate the figures. They don't fit with the bricks blockiness. Terribly mis-matched. The console room and progenitor chamber are ok. Is the console room mustard yellow or a regular yellow? Hard to tell. Bound to be overpriced. Character Options products don't come cheap.
  20. Playsets look like they have some interesting parts. I'll probaly wait for reviews before deciding whether to buy or not. The plastic looks a little on the low end of quality in the pictures.
  21. Prison complex. Forget the vehicles, The police prisoner transport covers that. I want a big cell block, exercise yard, governors office, solitary confinement cells, infirmary, watchtowers, sliding main gate, secret escape tunnel, Governor and officers, prisoners in both stripey tops and orange jumpsuits. City park. large green space maxed out with trees and bushes and plants and flowers. park benches, fountain, kids playground, lamp posts, maybe a little bridge over a duck pond, meandering pathways, walled/fenced perimeter. Oh and a little corner with a chess table for old guys. there should probably be some landscaping too with trees on hillocks and why not throw in a minifig statue on a plinth as a tribute to the very first minifig. Office tower block. millions of windows and doors, working elevator, photocopy room, office cubicles, management offices, boardroom, vending machine, water cooler, coffee machine, telephones, computers, reception desk, motorcycle courier, some sort of 3D sculpture logo at the front of the tower, like a globe or abstract street number. And obviously set appropriate minifigs.
  22. I'm not impressed. Never liked Maersk blue and there's nothing about the build that stands out as remarkable. I'll ignore this quite happily.
  23. Personally I love Purple and orange Lego. Lime not so much but in certain instances it really adds impact. I'm planning on changing my city breakdown recovery vehicles from orange to lime and making all my city maintainance vehicles orange. I've been assembling a collection of purple parts for a city shop and masses of orange to build the interior walls of my supervillain secret underground base. Which will be orange, trans orange, trans neon orange, black and various silvers. I think it would be interesting to have a colours poll to see which come out as favourites. allow for multiple choices and have an 'all colours' option but just see where the balance lies between primary, secondary and tertiary colours.
  24. For me, The reason I entered a dark age was lack of money. Mostly. I'd reached an age and found myself living in horrible little bedsits and apartments with barely enough room to turn around let alone house a Lego collection. However, I decided to have one last little splurge and bought 6559: Deep Sea Bounty. Oh I thought it rocked. Aside from the rubbish fish stickers it had everything you could want of an ocean adventure. I'll admit I now covet 6441: Deep Sea Refuge and wish I'd bought that too, but I didn't and went into my dark age in a mini sub facing fearsome marine creatures... So, what was the last set you bought/had bought for you before darkness and cobwebs took control of your Lego love?
  25. Briefly: As light goes in theatre, purple is associated with mental instability and green with physical illness. In general terms Purple is associated with wealth or luxury. Excesses. Power. Also madness and effeminacy. Orange is a colour of submission. It can also be a colour of passion. Or danger. Lime is a warning colour. Acidic. Danger. All three are associated with negative connotations in some way. They're colours that usually get watered down to pastels or darkened so they aren't garish. People have an inate distrust of these colours owing to either psychological conditioning through life experience and absorbed social prejudice or primal instinct. Many poisonous flora and fauna have lime/orange/purple colours. Used sparingly, all three colours can be very effective and striking in contrast to more muted or contrasting colours. Though in large blocks they seem strange and alien. Overwhelming. They're difficult colours to use and place.
