  1. Anything else than 28 teeth makes no sense to me. Seems like there is something grey on the top of the gear, which suggest that it is a turntable. Still hope it isn't though, a 28 teeth double bevel would make it possible with new combinations.
  2. This doesn't make sense to me. If the crane is operated by (2?)LA's, it must be relatively big. And I suppose these would be connected to the chassis via a transmission ring, but then that wouldn't fit inside such a small turntable?
  3. 8285 had an MSRP of 120 euros.
  4. LA's, eh? Not mini-LA's, right? But no motor, or? It's weird that they design a smaller turntable for a set of this size..
  5. Thanks for the info When you say it's similar to the 8285, is the size about the same as well? Same wheels as 8285? 3 axles i suppose? dual rear wheels? And is the crane operated by pneumatics, LA's or something else?
  6. Why do you know so much Cwetqo? Sources? You don't know anything more? I wonder how the rock crawler is steered, maybe some new rc-steering-motor-thing? I've got a feeling TLG won't use an M-motor together with an auto-centre function in an official model. Just me maybe...
  7. Your mudguards look much better than the original, but isn't it possible to mount them a stud lower?
  8. Looking at the way the cranes is constructed the simple answer would be: yes, at least. This could have been a nice opportunity to introduce longer cylinders, which would make that a smaller problem as well as make the crane stronger.
  9. Teeth is what you mean, guts is something quite different
  10. Auch. Americans have the highest average wages in the world as well as the cheapest LEGO. Damn capitalists
  11. In norway the MSRP is 1699 NOK, which is the equivalent of 317,56 USD, 220,42 EUR or 302,19 CAD. Beat that
  12. Minor challenges for one of the five biggest toy producers in the world surely. I don't really think there is market for it though. Let unofficial groups do that for specially interested, and let TLC focus on making the plastic pieces as solid and reliable as they possibly can.
  13. I think what Gekke Ted may mean is that it's not as impressive and complex as the two previous flagships. I get the feeling that the designer of last years excavator spent more time banging his head against the wall than the designer of the unimog, despite it being nearly twice as big. And I agree. As a piece of 'engineering', I think the excavator is more impressive. Overall though,I think the unimog looks like a very good set. Well built suspension and the combination between pneumatics and PF is very welcome. Personally I think I will skip this set. Ironically the very popular color scheme is part of the reason. For MOCing a few different orange pieces isn't really that attractive. If TLC decides to implement it into the future technic sets it would be a different case, but I doubt they do. Gray panels aren't as interesting as black panels either. Then I am the type that disassemble all sets the day after I've built them, so my vote isn't really applicable
  14. Are the unimog's tires the same size as the old 24*43 tires?
  15. Personally I prefer studless building, and think it's more inspiring, challenging and interesting than studfull. In most cases it also gives a better result.
  16. Thanks I was wrong though, they haven't published it yet though
  17. You don't have the instructions anymore? As merman said, I mean the numbers of the back of each booklet. TLC has a habit of publishing instructions on their homepage early, but very quietly.. so to say. If we have the numbers we could at least check if there is anything. I'm quite curious about the instructions
  18. Do you have the ID numbers for the instructions?
  19. Not strictly true: 8416 edit: @JunkstyleGio: Oh.. right. Sorry
  20. Found two pictures from the summer catalog. Nothing new really, but it's weird that the unimog got the smallest picture of the lot. http://www.thebricklife.com/new-lego-catalog-images-mid-2011/
  21. Next time their going to make a remotely controlled flagship I'm thinking a crawler crane could be very likely. Maybe with a similar gearbox system as the 8043. Though it might be to similar...
  22. It all depends on the price for me really. It's more complex and better looking than the equivalent container truck (8052), hauler (8264)and cherry picker (8294). But then I'm not sure if you can compare it to these as the flatbed has (weirdly) 1115 pieces, and presumably it's more expensive. If this set has an MSRP of less tham 90$ I would call it a good set.
