Sorry for the gigantic bump, but does anybody know what the truck weight? -

I will eat my own head if that thing has pneumatics -
Thats quite a lot better than TLG then. They have used it to solve a problem which they didn't have, as it is completely unecessary in the log loaders gearbox. It just seems like a waste to design a new part for such a marginal use. There's so many other parts they could put into production instead.

How about... a Maserati GranTurismo? -
On the highest yellow beam on the chopper, there is a sticker showing something and a pole reverser handle just above it. So there must me a gearbox. My guess is four different outputs: 1: Opening the cargo bay (the gray panel at the back). 2: Winch. 3: Landing gear. 4: Rotors. It seems like there is a couple of mLAs there as well. I fdo like the chopper

That's right, but it would still be wider. Actually.. if you want to be really anal (like me) it is possible to keep the initial width, but then you have to ged rid of the 15L beam outside of the diff bracket and swap the 3L liftarms on the wheel mountings with 2L. Then you'll end up with double wheels, which keeps its initial width and doesn't fall off. You'll also have a problem with the structure around the diff because of the missing beams... to difficult for me to explain, but entirely possible to fix.

There is a problem with this, and it's caused by the new diffs. Because the drive axles are only mounted on the 1/2 stud 12t gear they will constantly fall of as long as there is nothing else to keep the axle fixed. In this case there wouldn't be room for it if you don't want to make the rear axles wider. Generally though, they don't seem to prioritise dual wheels whatsoever. And if I rememember correctly; authenticity is part of the holy trinity of technic bulding in TLG. So it's pathetic, really.

Well done. I'm actually building something like this as well. -

They're used to mount the changeover catches. -

There are so many pieces that don't exist yet, but instead of making something useful, they've decided to make a piece that (at first glance at least) looks like it exceeds the known boundries of awkwardness in the technic universe. Somebody in Denmark has clearly gone completely mad. -
Prorotype parts
Pauger replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Interesting how they actually designed and produced new parts just for a prototype. I thought those kind of jobs were immensely expensive. It looks like the rock crawler might have the 3 x 11 panles at the back. If it's not just a curved one? -
Mobile Crane: Lattice Boom
Pauger replied to Pauger's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks for nice feedback I'll see what I can do. I'm very impatient when building digitally I don't really recognize the problem. There is almost no space between the axles, so the chassis doesn't really get the chance to bend as long as it's on the ground. And when lifting the chassis there isn't any visible bending at least. There is basicly three horizontal beams going through the entire chassis, which gives decent strength to the chassis. I recon it will be a bigger problem when building the superstructure though, as it will be terrible unbalanced when the boom isn't mounted.
