  1. Here's a tip: you're not allowed to use the name of the LEGO company in your website's address. That's why websites such as Brickshelf, Bricklink, Eurobricks, Mocpages and many others that focus on LEGO do not have "lego" anywhere in their addresses. You can expect LEGO asking you to take your website down fairly soon. Which should not come as a surprise, since it's a registered and trademarked brand name.
  2. The effect was much better with 1:1 gearing, but it was too weak for driving on ground. A gearbox would be perfect here, but its added weight would probably make the whole thing sink.
  3. Nope Tim, I had to make the wheels detachable for easy transportation. The main goal while building was to make this whole thing fit in my backpack.
  4. Basically the simplest amphibious vehicle I could think of. Not exactly impressive since Dluders has taken LEGO up in the sky, but... :) Further reading: http://sariel.pl/2012/04/lime-mk2/
  5. Certainly, sir. Also, since you like my creation so much, here's a nice little something:
  6. Thank you, you're kind beyond my expectations :) You may be interested in the fact that I was quite close to making the cannons fire remotely by having a motor pull their triggers with a string. It worked, but the cannons turned out to require pull-and-release action to fire properly. The motor wasn't able to release tension of the string instantly, there was a little delay, and the delay caused the "cannonballs" to stop at cannons' exits. The hamsters have respect for LEGO pieces, although the brighter one was repeatedly trying to pick a sabre with her teeth. I was half-expecting her to draw this sable, produce a hamster-sized eye-patch and go ARRRR! on the other hamster ;)
  7. ...evil ensues: Just a variation on the Black Pearl set. I always liked it, but it lacked something... like the ability to travel through my room looking majestic, or an aura of evil, for example ;) [pid][/pid] 129B
  8. Since then, there weren't really any actual LEGO supercars. 8070 is an arguable set, the philosophy behind how it's built seems typical for modern Power Functions sets rather than for the classic supercars line.
  9. OMG, it's raining Death Stars :) You sir, are crazy in a good way.
  10. And a little idea of mine. Also, the reason why there are almost no arched tan bricks left at the Bricklink ;)
  11. The speed is impaired by your choice of this tiny, inefficient propeller. You should try this: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=2952
  12. I see. Now I only have to convince the judges that the hamster is an integral part of the model ;) By the way, Polish name for guinea pig also translates as "sea pig". üdvözlet Lengyelország!
  13. The video: The description, photos, NXT control program and schematics of the boom and the head: http://sariel.pl/2012/04/reach-stacker/ I don't suppose this could enter the TSTTS contest, could it? ;)
  14. Superb idea! I'll spread the word wherever I can :)
  15. I heard some people do it with magic. Others use this: Buy here: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=8879-1
  16. Wow! I never thought I would see a driving/walking Tachikoma looking this good. My hat's off to you sir :)
  17. Well, should you ever find yourself near Poland, let me know :) We'll be launching a LUGPol exhibition at Cracow on July 7th, may be a good reason to drop by. As for Technic fans, I seem to be in a good position here in my country. There's one fan living just across the backyard, and we have meetings with folks from the whole city every few weeks. Plus Truck Trial races, that's where things get 100% Technic and words like "castle" or "pirates" make people give you weird looks ;)
  18. Nice creation, but with all respect, I don't think the photos do it justice. You could probably benefit from this: http://sariel.pl/2011/07/photo-processing-tutorial/
  19. Thanks. Actually, the page count is not final and I expect it to increase. Also, the cover is an early draft.
  20. Well, there is the speed of light and there is the speed of DLuders, only a little bit slower :)
  21. I guess it's very bad if your motor is lazy. It makes it work.
  22. Something I always wanted to try: a remote that allows you to control motors connected to one NXT brick with another NXT brick using Bluetooth link. It allows proportional steering and speed-control for the propulsion motor, which makes it generally superior to Power Functions remotes. Note that it uses ROBOTC 3.05 and a simple Bluetooth messaging between two NXT bricks. More reading, building instruction and the complete program: http://sariel.pl/2012/03/nxt-brick-to-brick-remote/ I hope it comes handy for those of you who like accurate proportional control which is otherwise practically impossible with LEGO.
  23. Great job as always. Amazing video as always. Brothers Brick messed things up, as always ;)
  24. My first NXT creation ever, it makes use of the ROBOTC and a simple brick with 3 motors. The goal: to make the gearbox shift automatically in response to the changes in the speed of the motor that drives it. Description, photos, and the entire ROBOTC program I have written: http://sariel.pl/2012/02/nxt-automated-gearbox/ The instruction for the mechanical part of the gearbox: http://sariel.pl/2008/12/4-speed-manual-compact-gearbox/ Hope you like it. I'm a noob Mindstormer, so take it easy :)
