  1. Timr got it just right. I basically built this whole thing to see how this gear would work :)
  2. We're have completed our 2011 season with the last competition on October 1st, so I have put together all our 2011 videos in case you have several hours of spare time to watch ;) Race #1: Race #2: Race #3: Race #4: Race #5: Race #6: Enjoy.
  3. Forget about flying though. RC models that can fly are in vast majority extremely lightweight. I own a microheli that weights just 20 grams total - this is equal to a small handful of bricks and less than almost every single LEGO motor. Anything built with LEGO pieces will be way too heavy, not to mention that it will probably have aerodynamic properties of a sack of potatoes :)
  4. I don't know what pieces or how much space you have at your disposal, but the simplest and most reliable way I can think of is like this: On assumption that the white brick with a light bulb is your source of light and it can shine through a pin hole in the wedge belt wheel, where a semi-transparent round plate is inserted. Then you can rotate the wheel by driving its axle or by putting a rubber band over it to achieve the flickering effect. You can adjust the speed of rotation as desired, and you can use several combinations of round plates in the wheel, including the opaque ones if you want the "fire" to flicker with more irregularity. Hope it helps.
  5. There is nothing keeping the two long beams in a fixed distance, so to answer your question - this is sooooo going to slip. You could still reinforce it with transverse beams, without resorting to 87408.
  6. It's just a micromotor with a single small linear actuator. You can actually see it in the video, and if you need a better look, feel free to visit my website and check the photos.
  7. I don't exactly call them inferior, I'm saying they were designed with focus on quantity over quality and that in result they usually lose 1:1 fights against Western tanks. Check the results of Egyptian T-72s fighting Israeli Merkavas. The 72s got pretty much turned to shreds. That doesn't mean these are bad tanks, they were simply built to follow a specific war doctrine.
  8. No vids? Too bad, I always enjoy Mahjqa's videos.
  9. I agree. Maybe I should have decreased the ground clearance after all.
  10. Time to spread some communism! ;) Photos & reading: http://sariel.pl/2011/09/t-72m/ Video: наслаждайтесь, товарищи!
  11. I was trying to get my nickname correct, Dasalair.
  12. Caution: drastic scenes with a broom included. Reading and photos: http://sariel.pl/2011/09/theo-jansens-walker/
  13. A MOC that has more torque for steering than it has for drive... interesting.
  14. Thank you. It takes a serious amount of work to make them like that, I'm glad there are people enjoying it.
  15. This is the video from the latest Lego Truck Trial race in Poland, held on August 20th. It includes some of the most spectacular crashes in the local history of this sport :)

  18. The strength of this design relies on the driving rings. They can only handle limited torque, and can get disengaged or get damaged when overloaded. It's the main reason why vehicles in our Truck Trial races use linear gearboxes with no driving rings.

  20. LOL I love the idea of Murder Saw spreading around :)
