Matthias adds a small prayer to Orrik to Purpearl's reading of the scroll, hoping it will take effect. If it does, he will attack the Reaper; if the Reaper is not Sealed, he will attack the Zoot Guard. > Matthias: If Reaper sealed, Peashooter vs. Reaper; if unhurt but Reaper not Sealed, Peashooter vs. Zoot; if hurt, nothing > Matthias: If Reaper sealed, Peashooter vs. Reaper; if unhurt but Reaper not Sealed, Peashooter vs. Zoot; if hurt, nothing

"Good point, Lady Purpearl." Matthias attacks the Zoot Guard once, then again if he is unhurt. > Matthias: Peashooter vs. Zoot Guard > Matthias: If unhurt, Peashooter vs. Zoot Guard, otherwise nothing P.S. - If anyone is going to attack Hel's Guard, they should go at the beginning of the order to avoid the (second half of the) Special....

Every time I think I know what's going on, I forget it again hahaha. And in the end, it didn't matter anyway. Matthias notices Ruffer's confusion just a moment to late to intervene; thankfully the crab suffers no ill effects. "Follow the elf's directions next time," he says to the crab, "it's her plan and I'm too worn down to think quickly any more." With that, he attacks the Zoot's Guard twice. Suggested Battle Order > 'XX': XX Cannon vs. Hel Alexis: Death's Whip vs. Hel > Matthias: Peashooter vs. Zoot > Matthias: Peashooter vs. Zoot > Purpearl: Ruby (Magical Staff) vs. Regret Ruffers & Pigley: Crabspirator vs. Regret Ruffers & Pigley: Crabspirator vs. Regret Nerwen: Heal vs. Nerwen

Oh no, of course not, no QM would ever make a Magic Compass not work! Genius little nugget there, Palathadric. Exactly! And don't think that sharing has to stay within the party, either!
-
The reason I thought Russel should attack the Zoot was to blind it, protecting Matthias and anyone else who attacked that skeleton... but having him use the Rebel's Sword and go after Matthias means that protection goes away. I suppose my battle style is just more cautious hahaha. Also, with fewer enemies than members of the party, there's no reason for Nerwen to go first - it takes away her option to be a healer until the following rounds.

Wouldn't a roll of 6 be the positive outcome? No problem! Real life comes first. Startled, Matthias loses his Dapper Hat but the jolt of adrenaline wakes him up for the fight. Pulling on his borrowed Quickdraw Quiver, the ranger attacks Zoot's Guard, yelling to the others, "Master Pigley, can you two blind this one and help Lady Purpearl with the one in the cape? Suggested Battle Order > Matthias: Change Dapper Hat for Quickdraw Quiver > Ruffers & Pigley: Crabspirator vs. Zoot > Matthias: Peashooter vs. Zoot Alexis: Cat-o-Nine-Tails vs. Zoot > 'XX': XX Cannon vs. Hel > Ruffers & Pigley: Crabspirator vs. Regret > Purpearl: Spell (Magical Staff) vs. Regret Nerwen: Heal vs. lowest health party member OR Mourning Star vs. Hel

Now that the party has stopped moving, Matthias nearly falls asleep again. It's hard for him to focus on Purpearl's words, but a few words spark him, and he joins Berthadhiell in examining their surroundings, looking at the structure in front of them for any clue to its purpose, its builder, its occupants (if any), and its entrance. He also looks around to see if there are any obvious paths or trails or objects lying nearby. "Does anyone see anything useful?" "What about you two?"

Matthias looks quizzically at the mage. "What did you have in mind? 'XX' might pass for Magnar at a distance if he had the axes, but I doubt we could fool the Armored broad up close. I don't even remember what Magnar sounded like." "Maybe we could stake the place out and follow her to Chauncey and Master Bart?" the gnome adds doubtfully. "We might want to get out of sight in any case."

This post should answer your questions.

Ok, cool. ...That's too hard to graph hahahaha.

Is that how it works? I thought reputation worked like this: ____________3_2_1_0_1_2_3___________ HINCKWELL <- - - -|- - - -> SHADEAUX BONAPARTE <- - - -|- - - -> JI PEI ZIEGFRIED <- - - -|- - - -> INVISION So that if Nerwen already had +1 Hinckwell rep, her bar looks like this: ____________3_2_1_0_1_2_3___________ HINCKWELL <- - -|- - - - -> SHADEAUX Then she takes the Hinckwell rep, so her bar looks like this: ____________3_2_1_0_1_2_3___________ HINCKWELL <- -|- - - - - -> SHADEAUX So then if she takes the Shadeaux rep, her bar goes back where she started: ____________3_2_1_0_1_2_3___________ HINCKWELL <- - -|- - - - -> SHADEAUX That said, I think it would be better if reputation worked like this: ___________0_1_2_3__ HINCKWELL: |- - - -> SHADEAUX: |- - - -> BONAPARTE: |- - - -> JI PEI: |- - - -> ZIEGFRIED: |- - - -> INVISION: |- - - -> WOLFGANG: |- - - -> That way, it would be up to QMs to decide how the reputation plays out. For example, in #102, there's no way for the Hinckwells to know that the characters' reputation with the Shadeaux was going up, or vice versa. We worked for both. So Nerwen and the rest should be able to get both reputations, meaning Nerwen's final graph looks like this: ___________0_1_2_3__ HINCKWELL: - -|- -> SHADEAUX: -|- - ->

Someone better buy all of those....

The crab's words shake Matthias out of his reverie and the gnome shakes himself back to wakefulness. He realizes that Shawe is no longer with them and that the building in front of them must be the Armored Reaper's lair. "I think we might decide to just break this one down, Master Ruffers," he says, "but we should wait until the ladies make their decision." Turning to Berthadhiell, the gnome yawns and asks, "What's the plan?"
-
I'm confused. From a story perspective, I don't see any reason why CK can't be right and the characters can't receive both Hinckwell and Shadeaux rep, but I thought the mechanics were that those two families were opposed? If the characters can get both, Matthias wants both hahahaha. If not, he'll stick to Hinckwell.
-
It appears the party had the same reaction I did...
-
Following through town and the woods, Matthias falls into a walking sleep - just awake enough to put one foot in front of the other - and doesn't hear Shawe's offer.
-
I think I must play Blackjack by different rules than you, Pyrovisionary....
-
Sorry to hear you're feeling unwell - pray you get better soon! And yes, tiny Math will revel in his 11 damage...
-
Matthias uses Triple Shot! It's not very effective. More interested in a good night's sleep than the loot, Matthias packs away the Quickdraw Quiver. The gnome picks up his Dapper Hat, gives it an absent-minded dusting with his sleeve, and settles it on his head. "Yes, let's go find the Reaper. The sooner we meet her, the sooner we sleep." P.S. - I think Matthias should be doing slightly more damage... Triple Shot does WP + Level to three enemies; that should have been (2+14)-5=11*2=22 damage to Swordsman A and 11 damage to Swordsman B.
-
Works for me! Matthias, seeing the Crossbowman fall late, changes his aim and targets the Chief. > Matthias: Peashooter vs. Chief > Matthias: Peashooter vs. Chief
-
Matthias attacks the Pongcanis Crossbowman, hoping to finish him off before finding another target. > Matthias: Peashooter vs. Crossbowman > Matthias: If Crossbowman KO, Peashooter vs. Spearman B; if Matthias hurt, nothing; else Peashooter vs. Crossbowman Edit: Duh, Guardian Angel Edit 2: See new post based on Crossbowman already being KO.
-
I think Docken is perfect for that role, since he's the one who's always breaking the fourth wall anyway... Not that different to say, "This is a game" or "This is a dream"
-
I can't do maths. For Matthias: 6 + (14-1) = 19 For Purpearl: 5 + (14-1) + 4 = 22
-
Matthias sleepily wonders what the backstory on the Shawe-Pongcanis feud might be, but when the 'Educated' one starts yelling about tearing people to bits, the gnome decides he doesn't really care to find out. Swapping his Dapper Hat for the Quickdraw Quiver, he attacks Pongcanis Spearman B. "Master Ruffers, would you mind blinding that crossbowman and the first spearman?" It doesn't say "Prepare for Battle," but I think we've all decided to fight, right? Suggested Battle Order Nerwen: Mourning Star vs. Swordspog B CrabPig: Crabspirator vs. Swordspog A CrabPig: Crabspirator vs. Crossbowpog Alexis: Fan vs. Chief Shawe: (Barbarian) Sword vs. Chief > Matthias: Switch Dapper Hat for Quickdraw Quiver > Matthias: Peashooter vs. Spearpog B > Purpearl: Arcanon vs. Spearpog A > 'XX': XX Cannon vs. Chief P.S. - Matthias should have 20 health now, I think, and did he get Encouraged? Purpearl should have 23 health as well (5+14+4).
-
Matthias nods his agreement. Matthias nods again... maybe this night of watching will work out better thank their last. As long as he doesn't have to take first watch.... "As long as I can catch a nap!" Matthias jokes sleepily. "Let's get to the granary."
