  1. Yippie! Yup that torso will work perfectly fine Commodore. Yippie, me and whats-his-face are in! :-D P
  2. Is a sleeve pinned to a jacket similar to this torso? anywayz, I found a pic of Admiral Nelson's uniform when he was on the HMS Victory: P
  3. Phred and Dukeschunke present: The Black Seas Barracuda is commonly referred to as the BSB on Eurobricks. This ship was originally released in 1989 with the Caribbean Clipper as set #6285; these were the first System Pirates ships to be released by Lego. Then again the BSB was re-released as a legend in 2002 as set #10040. There are 865 pieces and 8 mini-figs included in this set. The BSB features a working anchor able to be raised and lowered and a working crane to get the plunder in and out of the ship. A small rowboat also is included, being towed in the rear. Heres a close up of the gun deck, rowboat and center portion of the ship. Never mind the wench beating up the rest of the crew. :-D Heres the front and back view of the Black Seas Barracuda. I was thinking of the movie Master and Commander for the front view. X-D On the back view, notice the high level of detail and design of the captains quarters in the back of the ship. This pic also shows how the rowboat gets attached on the stern of the BSB. The interior of the captains quarters seems rather plain with only a map on one wall. :-/ Although it is very easily accessible and its real easy to place furniture inside once the ships built. *y* For the pic on the left, its a close-up of one of two cargo areas. There is a cargo area in front and behind the gun deck. Also this is a closer view of the reel or capstan that raises and lowers the anchor. For the pic on the right, its viewing the two entrances into the captains quarters and the stairs that lead to the quarter-deck. Below are pics of the 8 included mini-figs. The weapons that came with the BSB include: 8 cutlasses 5 pistols 3 Muskets 4 Cannons* *According to Imperialshadows, in the first release of the set in the U.S., the BSB came with shooting cannons. Then shortly afterwards, it came with the non-shooting version. And finally around 1992 in the U.S., the BSB came with non-shooting cannons with the cross-cannons. Here is the parts inventory from Peeron for the BSB. Here's the Brickshelf folder where the review pics are located.(already moderated) I gave this set a 5 out of 5. Considering this is the first pirate ship made by Lego, this ship is very well built! In my childhood, Ive spent countless hours playing, modifying and rebuilding this ship. Its one of my all time favorite Lego sets. This ship is a definite must have for any serious Lego Pirates collector. I own two of these sets, although one is not fully complete. The actual Lego model in this pictorial review is dukeschunkes. And finally, thank you Mr. Phes for the photo editing done for the first picture. *y* Enjoy! Phred
  4. i would say it's the right forum *y* although i don't have any pics of building from that era :-/ looking forward to your pics So many Napolean fans, B should be really happy. P
  5. Wow *wub* Makes me want to make a lighthouse The only thing i question is the use of the Black Knight Shield. But it still looks great *y* P
  6. Sweet Mosana! *y* Thanx! *sweet* Not in a hurry though, don't need it for a while. P
  7. Hey Mosana (the expert torso designer) ;-) , Can i put in a request for you to make a torso of Lord Admiral Nelson? P
  8. How'd i miss this X-O This seems pretty kool! *y* ' Count me in Commodore!!! (hopefully it's not too late to join the party :'-( ) I'm the guy standing next to Z. Behind the Carronades and cannon. And i'm not one of the Cannons either :-P The face is from the new Aquaraider sets. Here's the peeron link for the face so you can see what sets it comes in. The torsos from Jabba's sail barge from Lando. It's not a big deal if you have that or not, any dark torso will do. *y* With the same hat hopefully or any Tricorn will do. P
  9. That's a neat idea for a MOC *y* Commodore, The ship is coming along real well so far. I was wondering if you could get a better pic of this MOC cannon of yours so i can see how the bottom of the cannon's carriage is built? Thanx, P
  10. There's a new Aquaraiders Set #7776 The Ship Wreck It's the aquaraiders set that comes with the most piratey items yet and it's 25 USD. *y* P
  11. That hinge plate seems to work better *y* This ship is turning out very nicely so far Z. P
  12. "Right now" the DDW is a french vessel. ;-) So you could say my British Soldiers are heavily out numbered by Dukes(the imperials currently on the DDW) "french" soldiers. Since it is a french built vessel, it needed to start out with a french crew and then get taken over by pirates >8-) It's too bad the HMS Charlie is calculated to go only 12.6 knots while the DDW may be able to go an estimated 17 knots, so the HMS Charlie can't run away from the DDW :'-( I consider these two ships my "practice" ships, so i know what type of pieces to get in the future to build som serious ships (like the USS Constitution and HMS Sophie). >8-) The HMS Charlie is much smaller than the DDw so it was a lot easier to get a better color coordination. The paper sails are the final sails (for now :-$ ) I usually mix my imperials to try to get the correct uniform colors for a particular country. For instance, on the HMS Charlie, the marines are red shirts, while the captain and officers have blue shirts. P
  13. Hello Mr. Fordo, There is a Lego War Games forum here at Eurobricks. I'd check that out for rules that EB members use. If you want a sea battle, you can check out Evil Stevie's and Dread Stephan's pirate games. I also would like to see pics of your Armies and MOCs. P
  14. LOL! :-D I know the barbary states took over a US ship (don't remember if it's a frigate or a large sloop :-$ ) too. Granted it was a country that controled this ship, but it was a very piratey country >8-) . P Edit: Also, i added those MOC cannons to MOC Cannon index. They look really good *y* Another Edit :-|| : Hey Z i came up with an idea using click-hinges that might help your cathead be more stable and not need a "support arm". I used different colors intentionally so that it's really easy to see ho it's built. ;-) Let me know what you think.
  15. Well i've been having trouble lately designing descant looking carronades on sliders. I've tried to build them actually sliding, but they turn out too bulky for my tastes, so tried just having them fixed and look as real as possible and i "consulted" the EB Pirate MOC Expert ;-) Here's what i've come up with: (ignore the dog hair X-D ) I used a broken flag-pole piece on the back of the smaller carronade. :-$ Both carronades have the same basic "sliding" carriage, so it's pretty easy to put different calibers of carronades on the same type of slider. Also, what i really like about this design, is that these carronades are the same height as the non-moc cannons. *y* Let me know what you think and how to improve them. Thanx, P
  16. How about a female figure head with a skull for a face :skel1: ? Could use one of these types of hair if available: * I prefer the first one if you can get it in black *y* P
  17. Well i got a formula that i'm going to use for figuring how fast a Lego Sailing ship is. Instead of using a linear formula I'm using an inverse tangent function where a ship has to be very very efficiently built to have a top speed of 20 knots or more. Here's the formula: (atan[(L/B)*((SA)/(M))*0.3024562649])*16=(speed) atan is the inverse tangent in radians (atan is what needs to be typed to work in Excel). L is the length of the ship in length (not including the bowsprit). B is the beam or width of the lego ship (not including fancy details on the sides). (doesn't matter what unit is used to measure length and beam, but they must be measured in the same units like studs, cm, in, etc.) SA is the sail area of the ship in cm squared. M is the mass of the lego ship in grams. (any questions pm me or post on here :-) ) Here are the speeds (in knots) of the official released sets done so far: (if not in bold, then i don't have exact numbers yet) Row Boat w/ sail: 18.2 knots Row Boat w/ 2 sails: 20.2 knots Imper. Trad. Cutter: 14.9 knots Emporer's Ship: 6.5 knots Crossbone Clipper: 6.5 knots Imperial Flagship: 16.2 knots Armada Flagship: 11.5 knots Carribean Clipper: 11.1 knots Viking Long Boat: 16.6 knots Black Seas Barracuda: 12.5 knots Here are the speeds of my MOCs: Chinese Junk: 14.6 knots HMS Charlie: 12.6 knots Xebec: 20.7 knots Dame du Loupe: 17.0 knots Will be editing more finalized details later. P
  18. I don't think Unsweetened Ice tea is a cola either :-P I don't drink soda very much at all, preferring home brewed iced tea with no sugar or lemon and with so much tea in it you can't even see through a clear glass *wub* P
  19. Hopefully it's not the covenant home world. *alien* If we can see them, maybe they've been looking at us. Just gotta see who can make warp drives, hyper drives, or slip-space ruptures first. P
  20. What set does the schumacher head come in? I'm pretty sure B used a Luke Skywalker head for his napoleon. P
  21. Hey Mr. Maniac, Do you have a large number of 3x3 facets () or 3x3 wedges ()? I used pieces like them for my brick built hull. P
  22. I usually use the scale of 1:41. That's from 1 stud being 1 foot by 1 foot Where did you get that estimate B? P
  23. Why thank yee Mr. Phes :'-) Aye sir, that be yee on me quater deck(again X-D ) I had to get the command crew on the ship again for the inspection by the Emporer himself :-D Yeah, I couldn't get a clearer picture :-/ for whatever reason with an expensive 8 megapixel camera I think it was user error :-D
  24. Yeah, the gray coat was in the cleaners, so he borrowed Harry Potter's :-D P
  25. I think yoda wants us to have a cozy atmosephere here whether we like it or not :-D joking aside, on MOCs that're made by ppl w/ limited bricks or skill, ppl seem to add a compliment and then suggest improvements to other parts of their MOC. Personally, if i can't find anything good to say about a MOC and all I have are "suggestive improvements", then i don't usually post in that thread. also, the mods and admin don't mind if ppl go off topic for a few posts. And when the off topic is starting to get a little carried away, a mod or admin ask that the topic be put back on track. P
