Ah, makes more sense now. What you have there is store specific. I bought 4 IJ Jungle Cutters at a 50% sale. the only sets on sale were that one and the Creator Beach House ) I bought 3 of those) I was planning on parting out the Jungle Cutters, but they have such a nice selection of parts that I ended up keeping them

LEGO Pirates Tic Tac Toe - includes 10 minifigures!
Thee Pirate replied to The Cobra's topic in LEGO Pirates
I'd like a shirt, but it'd have to be available in my size Adult M please -
I think you should do it. You'd have your name immortalized in the minds of those that visit the Amsterdam Naval Museum. Plus, you might even get your name in the history books... just make sure you retain ownership rights to the model. Next time I get over to Europe, ANM is on my list of places to visit as long as the Air Force will let me get over there Also, when did the U.S.S. Constitution have a kitchen fire? A Google search didn't turn up anything and I glanced through the wikipedia article, but didn't see anyhting about it. That'd be the worst naval tragedy of all... the world's oldest commissioned naval ship.

What the ef is matt talking about? Wal Marts down here have started marking up sets around 5%. On Friday, I found out one of the local miitary bases is fully stocked on pretty much all the new sets, they're not marked up, AND I can buy them with no sales tax. I can't wait for all my bills to be paid, so I can hit that up on the 15th. As far as I know there's not too many AFOL's in the military

The tic-tac-toe game is more useful for army building.. Hopefully it's priced reasonably.

More new products from Shop@Home (2009 later half)

That's not quite what I expected out of a Pirate BP, but I suppose it'll have to do I was kind of hoping for separate Pirate and Soldier BPs like the ones castle gets. I suppose it'd make it really easy to amass large quantities of the Admiral and Pirate captain torsos though. I rather like both of them, they could almost be turned into they're own army or something. I suppose I'd have to sell a crapload of monkeys, parrots and that other pirate's torso on bricklink at deep discounts I'm glad we're getting the Lego games... any word on whether or not we're getting the other ones? -
Open one in the Florida panhandle!!! 3 years ago I lived in California and there was 3 Lego stores within an hour of my house. Now, I believe the closest one is around 4 or 5 hours away :-(

Imagine Yourself as a Lego Set Designer.
Thee Pirate replied to Go Cubs Go!'s topic in General LEGO Discussion
More modular stuff for the Soldier's Fort... think sort of like a rerelease of some of the greatest sets from the days of blue coats and red coats... like an Imperial Trading Post remix or Lagoon Lockup, but with new colors, the new soldiers, and completely compatible with the modular set up. They wouldn't exactly be rereleases, but more like a way to pay tribute to the old sets. -
Yes and no I wish sets like the power miners included both double and single sided heads. Most of my building is done with pirate stuff, so I have little use for a double sided head on a display MOC that visitors see.

Totals: 149 Sets (92 unique), 44,367 Parts, $4,108.5, 358 Minifigs. 3 of my sets aren't inventoried and the price isn't listed on 14 or so. That also doesn't count PAB purchases (which includes well over 1000 1X2 bricks in various colors) and that total doesn't take into account sales or purchases from Bricklink which means you should probably subtract around 20 minifigs, and add another 250 or so on individual bricks and plates.

I'm either a freakin sweet house that's almost as old as I am, or a Belville dog Set 1026 piece 6201

...or if you make sure you get home before your wife so you can put your recently arrived order in the Lego room before she sees it. Also... ...if you have a Lego room. ...a Lego budget that exceeds the amount of money you spend on food.

Starving yourself to get a set?
Thee Pirate replied to Darth Legolas's topic in General LEGO Discussion
lol, sort of.. I finally splurged and bought 10179 ME.. but I only justified it because it's on sale.. also, now it'll be another month before I buy a washer and dryer, but the laundrymat is sort of on the way home from work -
I use 5 drawer towers from Wal Mart to sort basic system bricks by color. Specialized items, accessories, decorated bricks, et cetera are stored in bait and tackle bins mae by Plano. Other items like tiles and the like are just sorted by themselves... eg. all my tiles are in one drawer on a tower. all my minifigs are on display in a tower made of red, yellow and orange system bricks since I hardly ever use those colors

That was a really fun article to read... I didn't know about the little "artist's signatures" thing you guys do. What other books/articles do you have in work, or is that private information so no one beats you to the punch? I also agree with you on the new Mermaid being an excellent minifig

^^That's my picture, and that's the only one I have with black buttons.

The disney deal, implications to the pirate theme?
Thee Pirate replied to n'henk pas's topic in LEGO Pirates
You know, if you look at TLC's hottest selling sets right now, 14 of the top 25 are all Star Wars sets. Lego snagging the Disney deal is great bid to guarantee that they continue to have sets that sell as well as the SW sets. There's so many different sets that can be made off of Disney stories. How badass would a Buzz Lightyear minifig be? I think it'd be pretty badass. When it comes to Lego PotC, I think we're more likely to see ride themed sets. With the remodeling they did on the PotC ride, a Jack Sparrow minifig is very likely, but I doubt we'll see a whole line of sets based on the movies. When it comes to movies that get turned into sets, I think we're more likely to see Disney staples released as sets. (Snow White, Donald Duck, Cinderella and the like) even then, they're probably going to release these sets to coincide with these movies being brought out of the Disney vault. (eg. Beauty and the Beast is being brought out of the vault in October 2010. I would expect BatB Lego sets to be released at the same time) -
It's a Power Miners head.

I'd hit that with my car!!!

What the.... which set is it in? I just glanced over my collection and I didn't see it. Some of those sets have been assembled for a year or so and I don't remember a purple piece

I concur. TC is such a bastardized theme, but that's part of why I like it. what would a time machine look like if someone actually made one? I think it would look like something from this theme

So, I guess this'll end up being a controversial post :-p I originally had Creator/Tubs higher than Pirates, but after writing out my little pirates deal, I realized I really should put that first. Top 3 Best themes Pirates Creator/Tubs Space Top 3 Worst Galidor Bionicle Znap Pirates gave us the first heads that had more than just smiles on their face. We got eyepatches, beards, mustaches, hair, shooting cannons, epaulets, ship hulls, row boats, and a host of other parts we had never seen before that're still being used or seen today. We have since seen the eyepatches in Castle, Space, Agents, Wild West; the beards in every single Lego theme released since then including, Castle, City, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Space and Poser Miners; mustaches and painted hair have been seen in as many themes as well; shooting cannons, dare I say, have also made appearances in many themes, from the horrid cannons from 4+, to the flick fire missiles seen in Indiana Jones, Star Wars, and Castle. Although design varied greatly, I'm pretty sure Pirates had it first; epaulets got seen in Adventurers and Space; ships hulls in Viking, Castle, and Time Travelers, and that cute little 4 wide row boat has been in practically everything since it was released for Pirates. Pirates got the first rifles and pistols, and even if it wasn't very historical, one day one of those guns was used by me for a bank robber to hold up a bank, and the next day it was a gamma blaster that Blacktron II used to shoot at Space Police. Dare I say, Pirates is the farthest reaching theme Lego has ever created. Creator/Tubs should be self explanatory, but in the event that it's not, what's more "Lego" than buying a ton of very standard bricks and being able to build anything and everything from a space port to a pirate city? When I was a kid, I had a few town, space, and pirate sets, 1 green baseplate, and two tubs or whatever they used to be called. I built in micro scale (although I didn't know that's what it was called at the time, I built "gigantic" space ships using a couple plates that could fly around and destroy "vast" cities, I didn't care that my pirate fort had blue "paint" on the walls here and there.. Creator/Tubs capture the essence of Lego. Space, nothing is more imaginative than exploring the heavens. Anything can happen. It goes on forever! There is so much to explore, and so much to be found. Lego has explored many different aspects of this with the insectoid UFO series, they've explored Space piracy with Blacktron, Space gave us the first raised baseplates. They had sweet little moon craters on them space gave us the monorail which has ended up getting used in countless City MOCs, and even a city set itself, and Lego has created what I believe to be some amazing alien minifig parts for SP3. That is another line I'm looking forward to the release of. God damn, I am gonna be so broke this year. I've already spent a crapload on new Pirate and IJ sets, SP3 is coming out this year, and I have an engagement ring to buy. Top 3 Worst Galidor. Need I say more? It's already been stated time after time. Bionicle, apparently it has a very loyal fanbase and they'll defend it to they're blue in the face. I just don't get it. I guess there's these biomechanical beings that fight each other... That's cool, I guess. I dabbled in it a little bit, but I never got it. Yeah, some of the pieces can be incorporated into MOC's, but as a whole they're only good for building more biomechanical beings.. I just don't get it. Znap. I have seen it's parts used in a few really good MOC's, but that doesn't change the fact that it was, as a whole, a really bad theme. *edit - spelling

I finally got around to picking this set up, no special sales or anything, I paid full price at Wal Mart, got back to my place drank a bottle of wine, then put it together. I gotta say, this set rocks. I love the minifigs. black fedoras are awesome. When I saw pictures of it, the design of the black car looked a little sketchy to me. After putting it together, I realize it's actually a fun to assemble model. The Auburn on the other hand... it's a little sketchy. I think Lego would have done right by me to make it a sort of conglomeration of the present model, the prelim model, and the one we see in the Lego IJ video game. (I am a huge fan of that game... I'm something like 96% complete with it.. I've never done that with an XBox game :-p) For reference, here's what the movie car looks like, and here;s the Lego version.. I don't mean to detract from the design of Lego's model, it's a very sharp looking car, it's just not very movie faithful I'd still probably give this set an easy 5. It rocks.
