I don't think they look good mixed.. even if you put updated faces on them the quality in the new uniforms outshines the old ones. I didn't have that many original pirates/soldiers sets, so I'm content to mostly retire them anyway, except for a couple displays that've been left together for around 15-20 years.

I hate dueling in Sid Meier's Pirates. this MOC reminds me of that.. the only thing you ever duel over is a woman's love. megabluck that, I'll just stick with my girlfriend who already loves me. I like that, great use of new figures, and new accessories, along with a mix of old.. (the skeleton? Eps don't fit the new skeletons that well :-p, old skellies4win)

I really like that old jail cell door, but I, for the life of me, cannot recall what happened to mine. I only had one of them... but I know it's long gone :-( I sorted every Lego brick I have about a year ago, and it's nowhere to be found. Well anyway, regardless... I've made jails that look like, it's so simple, but it does it's job: keeping the alive in confinement and in this case allowing the undead to terrorize them I hope that's a fate I don't receive... Die young or die fast

I had planned on incorporating most of my boats into my current MOC, which I'm about to post pictures of as a WIP, but it's gonna be a lot more "serious" or something... like there's a carpenter or something, and a drydock where construction has halted on an Imperial vessel that's been sitting for 15 years :-p You made my day, that's a great MOC man, great MOC. Great idea.. I'm still debating whether or not to buy a second set with that baseplate, I just have to disguise the seam that shows between the two.

Rock Raiders are kind of lame.... YAY!!! there's these monsters that eat rocks! Pirates and Soldiers are way more bad megablocks. Buy more pirates sets so they stick around for a few years. Other than a few non-pirates sets for parts, all I'm buying this year are Pirates sets.

I believe there is no lines that can be drawn depicting what can and cannot be depicted in a MOC. As AFOLS, we are free to depict anything we desire, no matter how offensive the subject matter may be to the general public... (for example: the "nude" minifigs featured in rape scenes in the Brick Testament.) In the case of historical MOCs, such as that shown at the beginning of this thread or the aformentioned sex scenes, they are historical, and in order to depict the truth, there must be a degree of ugliness to them. In the case of fictional MOCs (eg. Pillage the Village submissions) there is a great deal of comic relief to be found in the plunder and "violence" shown. Since these are creations created by AFOLs for the enjoyment, or appreciation, of other AFOLs there is no line to be drawn when displaying them. A little 8 year old kid isn't gonna catch the same references you and I will.

I only submitted a CS request for the brown haired mechanic, because quite frankly, I have enough Indys. The only set I don't have is the Shanghai chase one.... but I have two of the Akator Temple (leaving one MISB) and 4 of the Race for Stolen Treasure. I can use variety in my Indy heads.. but I really don't need 5 of the grey mustache soldiers. Haven't heard back from Lego, except for the auto generated response to my request.

I especially like how it looks like the guy holding the Bible is flipping off Obama kudos to miniland figures not having dexterity with their fingers. My fellow Americans have voted in the least qualified President.

All the dark blue 1X4 bricks in my Market Street have a sort of swirl in them where it's a different color.. I only noticed it after the set was together, so I won't be taking it apart. Aside from that and some funky swirls in the new cannon, I don't have any color complaints with new Lego bricks. The only other issue I have is with a few Indy sets getting wrong heads. Two different Indys came with the Anakin face, and I got a grey haired mechanic's head in the Fight on the Flying Wing (instead of the advertised brown) I put it a CS request for the latter, but I still haven't heard back from Lego.

Okay, nevermind! $5 Canadian isn't that bad. That's how much in USD TRU sells the impulse sets for, but S@H sells them for $3.50 USD. Toys R Us mark up is a female canine when you're buying a lot of sets. I only paid it at first because they weren't available anywhere else.

I really like that, it'll add variety to my slowly growing army... The only "army" that really counts has 24 soldiers, 6 officers, and 2 admirals using all new pirates.

Yeah, you should either buy soldier's arsenal from S@H or buy more Cannon Battle sets instead of paying $5 for an Impulse set, unless you live where they're not available :-/

Under a broad definition, even the actions of Han Solo count as piracy. Pirates truly do pwn ninjas Piracy existed long before ninjas, and apparently it even exists in the future which is also a long, long time ago Oh, and to keep things on topic, great original looking MOC

Who cares if he has a ride home? He has plenty of rum to drink!!! My rum of choice lately has been Pusser's... but that's beside the point. That's a very creative usage of that baseplate, I still have my set built up box stock. and that's only 1 of two new pirate sets that I don't have multiples of

..and this is the first SW Lego set I've ever bought, although I'll admit I bought it as a parts collection. Now most of the minifigs will wind up on Bricklink, so that I can possibly buy another one or two before they become unavailable.

I got two of the the yellow slave Leias the same way, they're great for MOCing pirates. You guys havesome impressive SW armies HOLY $100 MINIFIGURE BATMAN! Did you buy a st with that, or wind up with it randomly inserted into one of your sets?

That barrel intrigues me. can we get some sort of story posted about where these pieces specifically came from? I'm now tackling a MOC for a theme I have no experience in :-p...

I think this is probably the only time you'll ever hear me say I really like the legs on that guy!!! Okay, but seriously.. that guy, the admirals daughter, and the pirate chick are probably my favorite new minifigs in the Pirates 2009 line. I have 1 copy of this set....before the year's out, I plan on getting two or three more :-D I just have to wait for some other plans to be complete...

I was pretty sketchy about Peril in Peru, but I ended up loving it after putting it together. It's a pretty fun build. That being said, I think the Flying Wing is a better aircraft. It's damn near indestructible, (thanks to the one piece wing) and it has that sweet megablocks gun on the back. I really like the new canopy orint, and it's pretty much to scale, you can have Indy and the mechanic fight while standing up under the wing.
