I have one, it still works. His head swivels a little freely, and the hat is not removable. Neither are the legs.

That is awesome!! I spent a million hours playing with the original Eldorado Fortress when I was a little kid, I think you captured it perfectly! It took me forever to figure out what piece you used for the crane.

Does any one know where this minifigure comes from?
Thee Pirate replied to FinalFeature's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Alright, alright, I know this is stating the obvious, but damn! That's $9,000 in minifigs! Hold onto the ones with the least amount of damage (yellowing and what not) and sell the rest, you can buy a car, or vastly expand your Lego collection with that kind of money!! -
10211 Grand Emporium price gone mad
Thee Pirate replied to Delmar's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I just wanna throw this out there, I'm moving to Germany in 7 months because of my job, and since I'll be on an Air Force base, I'll still get standard state side shipping rates, plus if there's any U.S. exclusive sets, I'll be able to get those into Europe fairly easily. I'll pay the standard rates listed on the Lego Shop website Additionally, I'll be able to do the opposite for 3 years, send European exclusive sets to the States. -
This set rocks. I picked up the last three at my areas Target, and after opening up one of them and putting it together, I realized I can finally live my life's dream of putting it together in the bag. Needless to say, it took awhile and my fingers are pretty well grayed from the ink but I'm rather proud of it. Only being able to work in that little window is a pain in the butt, but it's well worth the effort.

All Easter promos: 3X 30051 1X 30050 2X 30010 3X 30002 When I got home and grabbed them out of my car, I decided to do some cleaning, and unearthed a Cannon Battle I don't remember buying :-p

Old Vs. New weapons, is there any difference in color or material?
Thee Pirate replied to B-Lister's topic in LEGO Pirates
It's a mystery to me too, I only have 3 or 4 early castle sets, but a bunch of early Pirates sets. I don't know how I don't have hard cutlasses, but I have a hard castle sword. -

Thee Pirate replied to B-Lister's topic in LEGO Pirates
I have one of the older hard plastic castle swords, but none of the cutlasses, and I have a fair amount of sets from the first run of pirates. Not sure how I got the castle sword. -
How open are you about your Lego passion?
Thee Pirate replied to Fugazi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
My wife knows, and supports it a little :-p She bought me one of my collection prizes, the Indiana Jones Comic Con exlclusive. My parents know, I'm always trying to get my dad to sell me his Lego. He bought a bunch of Pirates when my siblings and I were younger and we had massive battles. He has it all, Eldorado Fortress, Skulls Eye Schooner, 3 or 4 Sabre Islands, Lagoon Lockup, and so on. He wants to save it for his future grandkids to play with. I try telling him, "Dad, these are memories of my childhood, I want them!!!" A few of my coworkers know. I earned the nickname Lego from one of them when he saw my Lego room, and I have the Captain Brickbeard keychain on my car keys, so sometimes I get a question or two... "Hey Hogan, do you really have a lot of Legos?" "Yeah, I have a lot." -
I'm surprised no one said anything about the track morphing from blue to gray. These sets would have a lot of playability in the mind of a child. You see, it's implied that the base the spaceship is landed at is above water, and when the Aqualock goes to the lower level, it's underwater. That means you can set this monorail up on a dresser, and everything below the dresser is underwater. That rocks!!

That's a very nice official looking MOC. I just wanna throw this out there, I might steal some aspects of your design for an SUV of my own, with your permission of course.

Very nice, Im listening to Guttermouth right now. That song was on my playlist 15 minutes ago. Right now "What if" is playing. Yeah, I like the Gorillaz. That's some darn good music.

Quality competitor to Lego...
Thee Pirate replied to David Thomsen's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I would never switch, for multiple reasons. Most of these have already been named, maybe my views vary a little so here it goes. Nostalgia - I got my first Lego set when I was 5. Now I'm 25. That's 20 years of Lego. A new company will never compare to that. There's no way they can top that. Hell, I had old school KNex, but those never caught on to the same level of Lego in my case. Cost - I have a ton of money invested in Lego. A new company would mean starting off with their stuff from scratch, and not spending anything on Lego. Quite frankly, that's not advantageous to me. Space - I don't have the space to maintain a Lego collection, collector cars, rare/expensive liquor/beer, and a collection of anything else. There's just no space for it. Cars take up the most space Time - Maintaining the previously named collections takes a lot of time, restoring cars, sorting Lego, and shopping around for that Belgian beer takes a lot of time. I don't have the time to devote to another hobby. -
Compliments on modifying the duck. That's one IJ model that I am particularly unsatisfied with, but I believe you did a great job on it.

50% Irish, 25% Cherokee, 12.5% German, 12.5% Czech.. I pretty much take pride in the Irish and Cherokee part. Heck, my last name is as Irish as they come.

Ooooooh man!!! That would be the end of it for me! I normally drink some pretty expensive stuff, Samichlaus, Guinness 250th Anniversary Stout, 12 year old Jameson and Gentleman Jack. As of late, I've been poor so it's Natural Ice and Kentucky Special whiskey for me :-p but anyway, back on topic, the worst I've had from friends staying over is a semi truck and trailer made entirely of 2X4 bricks with square 2X4 tires

Wow!!! Compliments on the following: The leaning wall, it messes with my eyes! Use of the Indiana Jones bag Building a 7 wide tower (that's something I usually avoid, I build in multiples of 2, but you've pulled it off superbly)

If you owned set #45903928179 as a kid, and have since lost it, but it launched your love for architecture and you have since designed the Wal Mart tower in Hong Kong, then I could see paying out the megablocks for that set. Also, if, as a child you wanted every single Pirates set from 1989 but your parents couldn't afford them at the time, and you ended up becoming an AFOL (as is my case) then I could also see you paying a shitton for set #459093835.... but aside from those three reasons, I don't understand the need for wanting a vintage set.

According to my set list, I have 2300 worth of coins, however, I have two sealed Race for Stolen Treasure and I can't actually guarantee that I have the coins from all the pre-dark ages sets. I'll have to dig through everything and add that stuff up.
-
I sort two different ways, by major color & basic piece in these Sterilite storage drawers from Wal Mart and secondly by color and individual piece (for everything that isn't a 1X2 or 2X4 brick) into these Plano tack boxes. The exact one I use is around 4 dollars at Wal Mart, those dividers are configurable for really long pieces or reall small pieces. Even that little "compartment" between the two clasps can be used for modified 1X1 plates in small quantities.

I'm also all for the old skellies, and I'm rather glad Lego decided to bring them out again. I prefer less fantasy in my Pirate building, and really only collect castle sets on sale as a cheap source of earth tone bricks to use for MOCs. I really have no use for the new Skellies and may only have 2 or 3 of them. I probably have around 20 of the old ones.

That is a very beautiful MOD. I have one copy of that set, but I think you talked me into getting another set or two. Compliments on a job well done

A better judge of it's value would be what someone has actually paid for it. According to the price guide, you shouldn't pay more than $1,599 for a MISB Airport Shuttle A qiuck BL search for items for sale for over $1599 shows 37 sets and while a number of them haven't been sold (there's no price guide info at all on some of them, other times, only used sets have sold), I think that the most promising one on there is 1651-2 Maersk Truck This beautiful (sic) 6 wide truck sold used for $1500. It also has some extremely rare parts on it. Brick hinges and car doors that've never been sold in Maersk blue. The Maersk blue train rail is a $15 piece. That 1X5X6 window on the back? It's a $65 piece, and the shutters are $32 each, for used ones. If Steam Engine 7750 came up for sale new at a reasonable price, I believe that one would far outweigh the Maersk Container truck, considering people pay up to $645 for a used one. I quit looking through that list when I saw someone selling the Batcave MISB for $2500. The closest anyone has paid for a MISB Batcave is $399.

I baby sat my colicked horse until 3 am, slept from 3-7am, and went back to the barn to take care of her some more. Now it's 5:09 pm. After a half hour nap, it's almost time to go back to the barn and watch her for the rest of the evening.Don't worry EB, I'll be surfing you on my phone once I get there :-)
