  1. Nice! A BrickArms product I'll be able to use in MOCs
  2. Yeah it is built on that hull.
  3. That looks really cool man, great improvements.
  4. Here's my take on it.. The BSB is a classic.. It had great style, playability, it was a fun ship to build. While I never personally owned it, I had a cousin who did. One day while we were visiting, I put it together, and every time after that, I played with it until we had a falling out.. because of that ship, I fell in love with Lego Pirates. The SES is also a classic. There's two points that've been made against it in this thread, the color scheme, and the swivel cannons. Those two issues aside, the SES is a very well designed ship, and it looks amazing. My father bought it so he could play pirates and soldiers with my brother, sister and I, so I had a lot of play time on the SES as a kid. Funny thing about is, the two points that were made against it, I agree with them being the downside of the SES. I think that perhaps the only way Lego can ever design a ship and release it as an original set, is to blend the BSB and SES.. 4 ports per side, 4 cannons total, but allow them to be moved from side to side like the Imperial Flagship, have a gun deck, and upper deck similiar to the BSB. If you combine that with a much more realistic color scheme, and you have a recipe for what would go down as the best designed official ship Lego has put out.. That's kind of what I'm aiming for in a MOC I'm working on, but it might be awhile, I'm waiting on a BL order before I can do too much more work on it
  5. We can upload MOCs to the gallery? Sweet!!! I need to finish my ship now :-p
  6. I like that guy shooting his gun up in the air. Nice MOC.
  7. that looks sorta like a ship I'm working on using the BB Bounty, but you finished yours first and got it posted
  8. 6271 - the Imperial Flagship. I got it for Christmas in 1992 and I never took it apart except to make a few small modifications, swap in some black bricks, add a figurehead, lifeboat and anchor... Oh, and the move to Florida meant that it had to be minimally disassembled.
  9. Pirate's Advent Calendar? That'd be worth picking up 4 or 5 copies... since I know to expect it, I can budget for it I wasn't expecting the new Pirates sets to be released so I broke the bank a little buying them up
  10. Well, apparently, according to my Peeron set list, which is the only one that I keep updated I have: 1492 Battle COve 6247-1 Bounty Boat 6243 Brickbeard's Bounty X2 6239 Cannon Battle X6 7072 captain Kragg's Pirate Boat X3 6245 Harbor Sentry 6271 Imperial Flagship 6256 Islander Catamaran 6240 Kraken Attackin' 6241 Loot Island 6192 Pirate Building Set 8397 Pirate Survival X2 1970 Pirate's Gun Car 6261 Raft Raiders X3 6268 Renegade Runner 6265 Sabre Island X2 6253 Shipwreck Hideout X3 (1 NISB) 8396 Soldier's Arsenal X8 (1 NISB) 6242 Soldier's Fort X2
  11. I got the wrong head with my Flying Wing... The mechanic came with gray hair I picked it up at Target.
  12. I just wanted to say... that's a bad assprin shot!!! That's a pretty good idea
  13. I downloaded Sid Meier's Pirates on Xbox live a few months ago.. that game rocks!
  14. I have my heart set on this being the next Lego set I buy, and since I'm primarily a Pirates kind of guy, I justify it because Han Solo was a space pirate of sorts, right? I don't mind watching Star Wars, but I'm certainly no "SW Freak"
  15. That's pretty awesome.. in the Indy sets they use brown carrots as torches
  16. That sale is still on for another two days, but you might have to stop at a couple TRU stores... I had to go to 5 before I found one with the ship, and that one store had like 30 of them
  17. I went overboard once TRU started their sale on Lego sets... I have: 2 Brickbeard's Bounty 2 Soldiers' Forts 3 Shipwreck Hideouts 1 Loot Island 1 Kraken Attackin' 5 Cannon Battles 1 Pirate Survival 3 Soldiers' Arsenal I still haven't opened up 1 Bounty and 2 Hideouts. One of the forts is built box stock, and the other is customized a little. Once I get back to Florida, I'll be opening up the other Bounty and modifying it to my hearts content.. I don't know if I'll open up the other 2 Hideouts or hold onto them for a decade or two and leave them MISB. Edit: oh yeah, I bought one of the Pirate Building Sets.. once I get back to Florida, I'm also swapping out his head for something a lot better.... and maybe a tricorn too so he can be a merchant captain or something.
  18. Haha!!! That's awesome. The Crew member said he was coming as he finished up with the local girl. That's effing genuis.
  19. For the record, those end pieces aren't stackable
  20. Get on down to TRU and pick up the larger sets. I bought 2 Forts and 2 Bountys.. You have 3 more days of Buy 1, get 1 50% off.... which apparently makes both of them worth buying :-D
  21. you've done a great job on that. Have you done an MH-53?
  22. I want that shirt in Adult medium!!!!
  23. So here's my take on it... the only Pirates set I don't have yet are the ship and the fort. This was a great article. Thanks for taking the time to write it. I also noticed the diffiulty in putting the crocodile together, Lego molded that with clearances that're a little tighter than I'd like, but it's infinitely better than my old Islanders croc. The redundancy on the heads for the Soldiers has gotten pretty old. I have 5 Cannon battles and 3 Arsenals so I have a lot of those heads now... I don't see why people complain about "all" the big pieces in these sets. The big pieces are pretty much.. what, that Island baseplate, the ship hulls, the rope bridge, and the masts. How is that any different from the classic pirates sets?
  24. Heh, I stopped by TRU on my way home yesterday, that's when I found out about the sale.. (haven't been on here in a few days) They were sold out of BB and the Fort.. There's two more TRU locations I'm stopping by today!!
