  1. Very nice... my BB mods which are still underway are a combination of the BSB, SES, and BB. Quite literally.. I took my favorite aspects of each ship and added it to one model. I just don't have anywhere near the right colors to publish it yet
  2. I'm kind of torn on this one.... There is no actual violence taking place. As every one's dead, it's all past violence by default. However, there is no pirate pieces included. A valiant effort to be sure. and I'll be sure to vote for it if it's modified to include piratey bits like shakos, cutlasses, and (more traditional) Jolly Rogers as opposed to skulls. I probably wouldn't change the layout of anything either.... just add epaulets and what not to the scene.
  3. I didn't see it mentioned which is why I ask.... what's the deadline? I'm now in the middle of moving because of landlord issues.... and it might might be awhile before I have access to my whole collection, so I might have to get into storage to come up with a good MOC for this.
  4. I concur.
  5. English names according to Brickset, only two changes.
  6. Great review on a great set. Classic town at it's best. This was one of the few Town sets I have, but I can't put it back together without BL'ing a few pieces. When I inventoried all my old Lego, I found out I only had 1 of the red 1X12 plates, and even that one was broken into 2X6's. I'm also missing both torsos. They must've been traded away for something else.. possibly castle walls? I have way more of those than I should have
  7. Can we, maybe get a rule preview.... or a set of preliminary rules subject to change on the 25th?
  8. Man, I dig those designs so much. That's like what I wanna build in real life, but I can't because I don't have enough tan yet. I went on a red-brown kick for awhile where I bought almost every set that had a great amount of brown in it, including the infamouse big brown box that Lego packaged as a Star Wars set. My tan hoarding started about a month ago, I've loved the tan and white combination since the new Pirate line came out, but I've never seen it used as extensively or successfully as you've managed to do. Props dude, that rocks.
  9. Heh, I waited til I was 24 for the return of Pirates. ...and what a glorious return it was... aside from the Brickbeards Bounty having the worst pirate ship design ever. At least the minifigs were absolutely amazing.
  10. You can bet your green big behind, I'll start building for teh Crownies if/when Pirates goes under :-p I love me some sweet forts/castles and what not.
  11. I actually imagine the "water wheel" set would use a modified version of the Troll battle wheel. It's definitely a workable concept using existing pieces. I'm also pretty sure a POTC line would include scenes from both the movie and the ride. On those lines, I'm sure your escape from prison idea would be a sure fire set, and there'd be one where the mayor or something was getting dropped in a well over and over again. That well set would actually be pretty cool, it would probably have some nifty play features on a 12X12 base. Tia Dalma's Shack and Fight in the Forge would also be kick megablocks sets. I'd definitely get those just because they're bound to have some sweet pieces in them.
  12. I vote either or both, because something is better than nothing... and 2X as many is just as good
  13. I'll be participating, for sure!!! I missed last years PTV because I was in Iraq and didn't have any Lego around It's good to be home in America.
  14. Star Wars or Harry Potter, 2005. Availability data is incomplete on Brickset, so I don't know what sets were in the first wave.
  15. Signed Lego, there are so many different things you've left unfinished in this line. God forbid, you go all fantasy and what not, but I'd prefer that over nothing at all. Then there's historical sets you can do, other factions, and what not. What was the point of asking for our wants if you were going to cancel the line? Did you really get our hopes up, only to throw them to the dogs?
  16. Conversation sidenote: I mess around with Garands virtually every day on the drill team at my base, none of ours are operational though We work pretty closely with the Sheriff's Department Honor Guard and we rebuild/refinish their functional Garands as needed Model railroading is a great hobby, I got my start on it at 4 years old. Flight of the Intruder? That's just old school, lol. That's probably one of the first science fiction movies I recall seeing. Back on topic... It doesn't surprise me that Lego doesn't consider Pirates to be a core theme. It was gone for 13 years!!! They also did kind of miss the pirate's craze with PotC by 5 years. If Lego had reintroduced Pirates in 2003, even as an unlicensed series, they no doubt would've sold like hot cakes. A hell of a lot of people had pirate craze. Out here, we have a pirate craze every year... the Billy Bowleggs Pirate Festival, but it's kind of our small town carnival. I gotta admit, it's the most bad assssssprin small town celebration ever. :-p but even with that, I wouldn't say the Pirates sets sell particularly well down here, they're always on the shelves. I miiiiiight run up a credit card or two though, to buy up a ton of sets to sell at next years Bowleggs festival. Uuugh. Goodbye Lego pirates. You will be sorely missed. *raises a shot of rum*
  17. Why? It's happened before... only the life expectancy was more like 4-5 months. Dearest Lego, what the crap? I've bought way, way more Lego in the past year than at any other time in my life. Admittedly, some of those have been rather large purchases, like the UCS Millenium Falcon and all the modular buildings, but I've also spent a crapload on Lego pirates (2 BB, 2 Forts... erm Ports, 3 Hideouts, and multiple copies of all the other sets. Hell, I even bought the playing cards, and magnets but left them unopened.) I'm cancelling all the other purchases I had planned on making, which includes the rest of SPIII, PM, and the Fire House because I need to stock up on my lovely soldiers. If SPIII, PM, and the Firehouse get canceled before I get the opportunity to buy them, I DON"T CARE! All I wanted was Pirates, all the Lego I buy I usually end up using for Pirates. I've held off buying more sets because I was hoping for a second run. And to everyone that said the sets weren't the great, what did you buy that was sooooo much better? Pirates II was easily the best line of 2009. I'm not biased at all. First point - couldn't agree more. Second - that'll never happen They're gonna be fleshies, which isn't so bad, I suppose. It's better than nothing. Oh, and it also means I'll have to BL a ton of heads.
  18. I bought all my Impulses at Lego stores when I went home on leave, via S@H, and I found 1 at a Wal Mart about 5 months ago. There's 5 or 6 Wal Marts near me, but only one of them had it, and only once :-p
  19. That was a good read, thank you for sharing. My mom works as an ASL interpreter in the California Public School System... I know it's not quite the same, but still. Just saying... It's awesome to see how Lego was pretty much responsible for your success today, thanks to your parents noticing that the school system didn't really care about your well being.
  20. No man, that's weird. It looks normal for me.. well, as normal as Pirate English can look
  21. I can't wait for POP!!! ..and thanks for better pics of the Toy Story sets. Woody's Round up looks like a set I'll have to keep my eyes on. I'm always looking for brown.
  22. That other poll encompasses the other major ships in the Pirates line, but the SES and BSB are unarguably the best ships in the line. Maybe we can get a poll to allow these two ships to duke it out? I vote BSB. It looks way more bad megablocks, and despite being limited to two cannon per side, it looks the most like a proper ship out of all the official Pirates sets.
  23. Imperial Flagship, hands down. When you add up the same amount of sails and big guns, smaller hull, and that nifty wheel/rudder set up you get a ship that is much more manageable than the Carribean Clipper. the IF would be able to run circles around the CC if (and that's a mighty big if) they were ever to go up against each other in a sea battle.
  24. I think it'd be pretty sweet. It would mean multiple new torsos for Pirates, and fleshie heads for Pirate MOCs. but since Megablows already did PotC, I doubt Lego will. Which brings me to my next question, is there even a sweet term like AFOL for adult fans of... Megablows?
  25. Is that 8 wide truck in the Factory diorama from an official set? I rather like it's looks as a minifig semi.
