  1. That is beautiful!! I've been a long time fan of the horror movie genre, and as such this MOC has won it's way into my heart. I love the way you did the pentagram, the rivers of blood and how there's a plethora of spiral staircases.
  2. Come on Lego, release this set in the U.S. You can tell, based on my name, I'd obviously buy at least 1 copy of this set, but in fact even more copies are likely, as there are numerous sets that I own multiple copies. Something like 67 of the sets in my collections are multiple copies. With numbers like that, you know I'm good for my word on multiple copies
  3. Great scott! That moonshine still is freakin awesome. There is a great use of a lot of parts in it. I would definitely drink some moonshine from that still, especially if it'll turn me into a werewolf. :skull: Wow, I'm still amazed at it.
  4. ...buuuuut it must be part of the Architecture line! It even has an "official" box behind it! Also, apparently we're getting another police station. I gotta confess, I didn't see that coming, at all.
  5. Woah, woah, woah. CC is an amazing building
  6. Social Distortion - Somewhere between heaven and hell
  7. Well, first things first. Welcome to EB. LotR rocks man. The good doctor Spielbrick has a few pics of Lego LotR minifigs he made using all factory pieces.. You can find them on Flickr. Now go over to Brickset.com, make an account update it with sets that you own, then go to Peeron and make an account, and import your Brickset list into Peeron. I tend to use Brickset more than Peeron, but Peeron lets you see how many of what pieces you own and what sets they come in.
  8. I really hope Lego continues to produce them. I have the first three, I can't afford the Fire Brigade yet... but as soon as I can afford it, I'll be getting it. I want a second copy of Green Grocer as well, so I can build it as a mirror image of itself and put it right next to my first one.
  9. I believe I've fallen into collecting. I'm really not sure when this happened. I came out of my "dark ages" in 2004-5 when I bought #7016 I started buying large quantities of of Lego a year ago, with the release of Lego Indiana Jones.. With the release of the new wave of sets, I only have 3 sets left to buy. I have bought as many as 6 copies of IJ sets when they went on sale, and I've left about half of them sealed for the moment. I always buy onsale, and the only way I buy if it's not on sale is if it's to complete a collection (as is the case with IJ, and Pirates II) I suppose I've become my own worst critic for MOCing, I rarely do it anymore. I have a few projects that I've started (eg. making over the Modular buildings so I can use them in a Pirate layout, and building a few r/c creations) and a few I've abandoned (r/cing the SW Sandcrawler) I've grown content to buying sets, putting them together, and leaving them that way, until I need the pieces for a small project.
  10. 32X32 blue base plates for water I concur. The above three would be very nice. SNOT water is too expensive.
  11. Hey Steve, welcome to EB. I'm looking forward to Forza 3 too dude. That game's gonna rock. Catch me on live: hot rod camaro
  12. Imitation is the highest form of flattery? Mmmmm Guinness. The beer of champions.
  13. old skellies, tons of jewels, new brown pieces, and that huge chest? Dear TLC, release this in the U.S. kthx.
  14. I haven't lived near a Lego store for 3 years, but I used this technique to get craploads of white 1X2 bricks. I don't remember the exact number I was able to fit in a large PAB cup, but I bought 3 of them. :-) When I went home to SoCal last November, I bought 2 PAB cups full of dark blueish gray 1X2's and 1X1's. I love PaB
  15. Not no, just not yet!
  16. My bluecoats don't see any use anymore. With the reintroduction of the Pirates line, I've replaced all my old worn out minifigs with the modern ones. Uuugggh, I don't want bluecoats just yet. Give redcoats another year or so, so I can continue building up my new redcoat army. (which is currently sitting around 60 strong.)
  17. Well, here's my thoughts on the matter. Pigs/goats/sheep - My pirates/soldiers have to eat something other than apples, cherries, turkey and beef. It would add much more variety to Lego scenes, and these are also pieces that can be used in every single line. (eg - a castle set with two trolls raiding a Castle farmhouse, or a shepherd guarding his flock.) reddish brown treasure chests - it's already been stated, but the chest isn't supposed to be the treasure. If Lego really wants to make the chests more elaborate, they can paint the ribs a metallic color or include such a detail at a slightly higher cost on PAB, or make it part of a set geared towards AFOLS. ps - I would love to have an official chest painted like that. I rarely modify Lego pieces, and don't use unofficial pieces A Globe - After Chris Columbus found out the world was round, globes were used everywhere, but all we have for Lego is a 2X2 tile painted like a map? The globe could even be available in a few different paint jobs like blue and brown for a new modular library building, or tan and brown for a Pirates II globe sitting in the governor's mansion. So again, here's a piece that can be used in a couple different themes. It's also something that is doable using current parts. If this piece was molded in blue, it would be cake to paint a little brown on it... although an actual globe piece with the stand and everything would be pretty sweet. Heads - more variety. I've bought a lot of Impulse sets and Cannon Battles. Well over 50% of my Soldiers have the same head. I switched it up a little but now the tow/castle minifigs that I took heads from are useless because they all look the same. I've actually bought some town sets for 1. parts and 2. new heads for my Soldiers so they don't all look like clones. I'll still continue to buy them for parts, only difference is, the minifigs will actually be useable again. Boat hulls - a remolding of this piece (or a very similiar and at least as well designed part) in reddish brown or dark brown for a smaller hulled ship/boat. It hasn't been available in a long time either, so it'd be a welcome reintroduction. Periwigs, hairpieces, wigs, hats and the like. - does it really have to be said that the Pirates line is slightly lacking hairpieces for both genders, and civilians in general? Not everyone wore a hat 300 years ago, except Lego figures. I think that just about wraps it up for now... Is there a deadline on this?
  18. I really miss the old hinges, and these car roofs. Now we have those tacky click hinges that are still useful but just don't do it for me... and those storage compartment doors? Those are to die for Megabloks also makes a really nice tank, but that one would be a little harder to make out of Lego because it has some really weird plates in it.
  19. Peeron says My Parts: [Hide My Parts] According to your set list, you own 26 of these (show only sets I own) : OldDkGray - 6 PearlDkGray - 20 but I know I haven't kept my set list updated for around 6 months on there.. I really don't know how many new ones I have, but it's probably around 40 or so.
  20. I own a lot of the new pirate sets, so I don't really want to see Bluecoats make a return just yet. Let's keep the redcoats for another year or so. A lot this has been said, but I suppose another voice will just re-enforce the ideas. New hair pieces/hats for Pirate/Civilian minifigs. A coulpe new weapons Ship for the Soldiers (maybe with a different combination of parts, like the CC did for Pirates I with different hats) A MMV type set for pirates and soldiers. To the person that said New Orleans inspired sets, I think that's genius! They could even make a Modular building or two that can be used in either a town or a port for the Pirates II line. I modified all three of my modular buildings to look kind of like New Orleans buildings for a diorama I've been working on. Side specific battle packs! I really don't need anymore Brickbeards. I already have around 20 of them. cannons on PAB for a reasonable price. Weapons and accessories packs, just like the good ol' days.
  21. I don't don't care who ya are, that there is funny right there. That's all there was... here's a link to the Myspace Lego City Myspace
  22. I voted '89. Remember when every single Lego set came with a mini fold out magazine? I remember getting one with one of my sets, and upon seeing the Black Seas Barracuda, thinking holy crap I WANT A PIRATE SHIP!!! I've always loved old sailing ships. Even when I was little kid, I didn't care if the movie was Swiss Family Robinson or Treasure Island, I loved it. The BSB is beyond a shadow of a doubt, the best designed Lego set to ever grace the shelves of a store. From a design standpoint, the BB is severely lacking. El Dorado Fortress... what a hell of a set that was. My dad bought it and played with my brother, sister and I. It was great, it had everything you could want in a fortress, gates, a tower or two, a prison, a dock, a couple cannons and the most beautiful baseplate Lego has ever produced. The Soldier's Fort? It has a wall at the back to protect it from land attacks, and 1 cannon. Big woop. Since set design easily makes up most of a set and minifigs are such a small (but very important part) part of a set, I vote '89. the '09 minifigs are leagues ahead of their '89 counterparts, but come on... that was 20 years ago. THe minifigs had better get better :-p otherwise the 2009 sets wouldn't be worth a damn.
  23. That was a pretty good read, thank you. On a side note - I got on the drill team at my base and the commands that we use today are very similiar, but for some stupid reason the letter "H" is added to the beginning of a lot of commands.. eg. Stand at hease, left/right flank harch (which I don't recall seeing in your manual, but it may not have existed back then), forward harch, port harms, present harms, et cetera. When the commands are given, sometimes they throw in other random letters to (for example order arms is said orderp harms) Again, I'd like to clarify that I don't know how long it's been like this, so I would say don't change anything in your Manual of Arms, unless you investigate it, and dig up new information. All in all, if a poll was added to rate the content of your manual, on a scale of 1 to 5, I'd give it a 6. *edited after this* On your "by files right/left" picture... the guy on the inside turn (or 4th column in that picture) should be half stepping it, the guys in the 2nd and 3rd columns should be doing approximate normal steps and the guy in the first column should be taking longer steps. Obviously in an opposite turn, this would be switched around.
  24. Those are very, very nice trucks. I like it.. My all time favorite locomotive is the GP50 because of an Athearn locomotive I got when I was 8 or 9. Since they're pretty much the same locomotive, I like it a lot.
  25. Do you have links to this? Ive been playing around with PF's for the past month... it's my first time playing around with electrical Lego parts ever. I've had a lot of fun, but I don't see the XL engines breaking anything. I have a chassis I threw together that has 2 XL motors driving two axles using a total of 3 6L axles, and 6 gears. 1 axle is running between the two motors with a pole reverser on 1 motor so they both spin the same direction. I used differentials pirated from 2 Power Miners sets to drive the axles with a 6L axle running between them. The only issue I've had with it is lots and lots wheel spin, because I geared it for speed as opposed to torque.
