  1. Pirates can also divide into factions: Ironhook, Redbeard, Brickbeard, Roger, etc... And there's islanders too.
  2. Thing is, I see many people here that enjoy building historically accurate stuff, and just very few that makes "classic pirates" MOCS (dont take me wrong, I myself would enjoy making scenes from historic sea battles, but I dont have enought material to complete even a small scene properly :P)...and the idea would work only with the classic pirate line, and PotC.
  3. Well, today I was looking at some other theme forums, and saw something that I am sure you already knew :P ... In the historic themes, they have guilds, and just by looking a little time on their vast stuff, I have to say I got enrolled almost instanlty. I loved the background they give to the entire guilds, one feels involved in the atmosphera, and well.. it was just so nice to see something with that level of organization. So I then asked myself, why we dont have something similar here? :O we got factions here too, popular names around the scene, ...do you get my point?, there's enough material to make something with that level, or even better!.. but by now I see just random mocs here and there, nothing related with each other... and I am afraid to say it kind of lacks that feeling, enthusiasm, don't know how to name it..but you get the idea..don't you? Hehe, just something I felt it'd be cool to have, to bring a little more life on the pirate theme, I'd like to hear your comments about this. Kind regards.
  4. I haven't read any lego idea book's ever hehe, but I'd love to! I'm already building more of these to use my remaining boats and convert them into small ships :P .. by the way, I'd like to see other designs, everybody is free to copy any of these ideas, and expand them, after all, that was the main reason for what I shared them ^ ^ If anybody feels like doing something similar, you can post them here, and I would be sorting them at the 1st post, to show everyone our fleet of small boat-ships Soon I'll be posting some upgrades to the former designs, to hear any opinions, plus one or maybe 2 new ones! Until then.
  5. [pid][/pid] 126 C&D 5th little ship with boats, this one is a an adaption of the islander catamaran, take a look: I really enjoy making these little creations, hope you like it! _________________________________________________________________________________________ 4th boat / ship 3rd little boat-ship Second one First little ship: Hope you had enjoyed looking at this as much as I enjoyed making them! also, again... any feedback would be great :)
  6. HI! I can tell you its growing wider and larger with some mods Im doing on the LDD file, now she has 2 decks, more cannons, beatifully adorned cannon ports, and well, lotta more things, when I finish it Imma post an update in the same thread :P

  7. 2 masts looks really nice, thought maybe you could try with similar red / white sails, like the ones used in the 1st mast. One large below, and the triangular one on the top, just like the original BSB has, instead of that jolly roger black / white sail from the SES,.. just a thought :P Also.. have you considered adding the gray / white stripped sail the redbeard runner has in the back in your ship, in the same way the redbeard uses it, but in your ship it could be placed in the spot where the rope descends to the stern. Im using all this description since I dont know how that sail is named, nor I know the same of each mast.. or each sail
  8. It is a shame indeed :( Today I saw some scenes of the game, in some sort of stage in decks of the QAR, but it wasnt built in lego, or at least not completely :O
  9. This really looks amazing! ... lots of details, one can give a look everyday and discover something new :O !! I like it! Now, I havent played or even seen the PotC video game, but if there cover of the game shows Blackbeard and Angelica, it should definetly brings a "oficial lego design" for the Queen Anne's Revenge, which I would love to check.. so I can "steal" some ideas but I did a little search and found nothing about it...so the question is: does the QAR shows up on the game? Thanks again for sharing this one! I could be adding one or 2 details on my own ships based on nice stuff from yours
  10. Personally I preffer the PotC theme than the last classic pirate theme they released in 2009.. also, I'd agree that for starters in the pirate stuff, beginning with PotC sets are kind of harder than beginning with classic pirates (The old school and only ones in my opinion from '89 to '96).. but for other people with an actual collection, seems like a new adventure, combining their ships with those new ones, or just setting them to fight between each other, its a nice addition, not to say, its always welcome to have new pirates coming out, no matter the theme (well.. almost), and that's something I suppose everybody agrees with :P else there would not be 171 pages in this thread arguing for a new release of the theme
  11. I can give you some feedback since I already made a similar MOC with the same couple of Redbeard Runners and some other pieces I had left. You can check it here if you want :P First off, and its something I like better in your ship than mine: the railing at the decks edges, (dunno if that's how it is called :P ...sometimes I miss the meaning of some words in english) looks great and gives the ship a very nice and balanced color detail, that's something I couldnt add in my desing, since I had a very limited number of bricks. Also the lower deck, or the gundeck, its really detailed and looks cool, and you also added a modular desing on it, nice :) Now, maybe its something you already realized, but in my point of view, it would look kind of better if could add a middle mast, since it seems kinda empty and with much space between the main and the top masts..that or get them a little more together..and the last sail in your main mast, (I dont know the exact name for it) I firstly installed it like yours, in the top end of the mast, but it looked a little weird..at least to me,.. so I lowered it a bit, and it worked just fine, again, you can look at my desing for reference. Overall, a good MOC, nice work!
  12. Hehe, thanks! It was completely satisfying to build it, back then in my childhood, I remember having more fun building and staring at my creations than actually playing with them, not all the times of course,..and well.. guess that habit have not changed that much since then xD Rigth now I'm trying to adquire just pirate sets, mostly ships. For the future I plan on adquire and modify the Black Pearl, also making little mods that convert the Renegade Runner into an actual useful sailing ship; don't take me wrong, I just can't stop seeing at it just like it is, I really REALLY like it, it's pure armony on colours and shape, but again, back then in my childhood's golden days, I missed the functional things every ship has, like a steering wheel, an anchor, a little cabin, and maybe a second mast. And specially, I'll try to adquire at all cost a Skull Eye Schooner, my favorite ship of all times, I always dreamed about it, but I never had the chance :( .. even now I don't have one.. Guess I'll pass on the brickbeard's bounty and the Crossbone little ship, those I don't like them that much.. By the way, I'd LOVE to mod every average classic set (89-96), and that includes Imperial Flagship and Caribbean Clipper, but I haven't found many good offers on those in my daily ebay treasure finding sessions xD Lastly, I'm still bound to finish my LDD project, The Queen Anne's Revenge,..that would take some time, even more because I'm still changing it's desing on the LDD file :P.. for the better I hope. I'll be updating my thread when I get to finish this wave of changes Thanks for the comments :)
  13. [pid][/pid] 126B Ok, finally this is the last of my ships for this wave, my modded Black Seas Barracuda, went to bed today at 6am hehe, a 14 hrs non stop of building,..you may ask, why someone would take that long to build a ship?, well...with limited resources, there's more thinking than actual builing involved Anyway, from the 3 ships that I have already modded, this one is by far my favorite, and finally I could add a second deck, and also tried some modular design, but I guess I'm still an amateur xD .. yet I did everything I could to leave it's desing as similar as the original, but also adding some stuff of my own. Now I gotta make room for it hehe.. its kind of too big for my shelf With no other introduction, I proudly present you all, The Black Seas Barracuda: Overview of the whole ship Decks Capt's Cabin Interiors Ship comparison and sizes And...who's the captain of this beauty? I present you all, Captain Blackheart, the mercyless.. By the way, guess who wants his flagship back and his well deserved revenge after the mutiny: That's right, Captain Roger Hehe, I always though as a child that Captain Roger and Captain Redbeard were different pirates, even when they looked exactly the same xD, I tried to make some little difference between them two in my last post, The Crimson Skull and on this one, later on I'll be modding completely the look of my Captain Redbeard :P So.. this is it, hope you had enjoyed the visit My next MOCs would be about PotC, I did bought some stuff at a really cheap price, completely new :O ..but for now, that's about it. Until my next post
  14. W00t !! It did got bloggued! :D thanks! I didn't expected it to get to the main page :O Gotta work more on this and the QAR, both would be evolving as I get more bricks, specially a second deck! Hehe, casually I have some spare time, guess I'm going to work on the BSB ^ ^
  15. Thanks
  16. Shipping is also based on box size...at least thats what I believe..
  17. Already got that covered, but that my friend, it's a surprise that would be uncovered in its moment
  18. [pid][/pid] 125B Hello there mates! This time I proudly present you, the Crimson Skull, made by a mix of 3~ redbeard runners and some other pieces I had on leftovers, now my Queen Anne's Revenge has an adversary big enough Here are the pics, hope you enjoy it: The deck sems a little empty because I had just enough cannons for 1 side of the ship, also I forgot to fill with coffers or barrels, etc :P And, well.. the best is left for the final project of this wave of lots,.. upgrading the Black Seas Barracuda, today came my second BSB, the '89 version, the one shown before was the rerelease, soo.. I expect to work on it by the next weeks, when I happen to get some time. For now, that's it my friends, it was fun to build it, and even when I don't have enough pieces to complete some parts,...like more cannons, more plates for a second deck which is desperately needed!.. or more bricks in general to make the ship ...curvier xD.. hehe, cant remember the proper word for it, but well, I did everything I could to complete as much as I could this creation. Thanks for watching, and till the next time
  19. Outstanding! I just love it!... is there any inside? more pics would be awesome.
  20. It's like playing Fire Emblem, or Advance Wars, but with lego pirates!... or it can be better, like real role playing at the Dungeons and Dragons Style! ... I'd love to play with a bunch of guys, but I'm afraid there's little pirates-lego fans around here
  21. Box is just something that would add a lot on shipping.. useless then... I have bought several lots of minifigs before, so I dont care if they comes with minifigs or not :P and lastly,.. they came all on great shape and nearly complete, so..that wasnt much of a trouble for me hehe
  22. Thanks for your kind comments!
  23. I usually search ebay for good prices on sets, daily ..since 3-4 months now, so in my experience I can tell you I'd not pay more than: $25 for a 6267 Lagoon Lockup $25 for a 6270 Forbiden Island $30 for a 6279 Skull Island $50 for a 6273 Rock Island Refugee $50 for a 4195 Queen Anne's Revenge $50 for a 4184 Black Pearl $60 for a 6274 Caribean Clipper $70 for a 6289 Red Beard'ds Runner $80 for a 6285 black seas barracuda I can even provide with evidence of some of the lots that I have either bought or that had passed by my eyes :P www.ebay.com/itm/190629179651?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 http://www.ebay.com/itm/270899055035?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 http://www.ebay.com/itm/330682892330?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 http://www.ebay.com/itm/250987218474?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 http://www.ebay.com/itm/150750850437?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 http://www.ebay.com/itm/300661808981?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 http://www.ebay.com/itm/130646205808?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 http://www.ebay.com/itm/120861111253?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 http://www.ebay.com/itm/390390592595?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 http://www.ebay.com/itm/310379294311?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 SO...good prices are all over ebay..you just gotta search well, and have some patience :P Hope this had helped a little :)
  24. The lack of pieces is my problem :/ else I would had made the stern higher too, and some proper doors and stairs :P I was thinking on buying from bricklink all at once, that's why I haven't made the order yet, but everyday something new comes, and add itself to the list hehe, so I guess I'd need to make several orders, as many here does :P I'm planning on making a 2.0 version hehe, when more bricks come to my hands, guess at that time I'll improve those details :P ...now that I remember, I also need more windows, Blackbeards cabin doesn't have at all, just arch holes :P Thanks for all the suggestions
  25. [pid][/pid] 124D Well, hello there! This time I want to share with you all this "upgraded" version of the original 4195 Queen Anne's Revenge, made up with couple of this set. Things I still couldn't complete as I wanted to: Even when the ship has plenty of space for a second deck, I had no plates at all.. I used mostly on a 95%, just bricks from both ships only, main reason is I still do not have enough pieces for anything else, unless I dissassmnble another of my ships, which I didnt felt like it Anyway, I enjoyed a lot building this ship, I still need more cannons to completely fill the other side of the ship, also some more black rigging, and more zombies xD Ok, here she is: Next one would be my own version of the Red Beard's Runner, made with both of the same set just as this one.
