[WIP] Mindstorms 51515 Plotter
Philo replied to ord's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yeah, Friction in turntables can be a pain. In some critical cases I opened them and added a teeny bit of silicon grease... Helps a lot! -
No problem for the delay ;) No it doesn't... this is clearly a problem caused by Studio to LDraw import export function that doesn't account for different orientation/origin of parts .Fortunately, since most of Studio library are directly issued from LDraw library, majority of parts work fine. I tried to report this problem MANY times years ago in Studio forum, but never got any acknowledgement or action so I gave up :(

Brickset uses LEGO inventories thus uses design numbers. searching for "Pneumatic tube" provides a list: https://brickset.com/parts?query=pneumatic tube- 5,465 replies

This one is intended to be a baseplate to add your own electronics, such as a Raspberry Pi. "The Maker Plate makes integrating your choice of single board computing devices fast and simple." Very interesting tool! Two little quirks I found: - 18575 gear is not supported (modern version of 32269 20t double bevel gear) - 35185 20t double bevel gear with clutches appear at the wrong place (when I open a native LDraw file, not an exported Studio file), thanks to a stupid origin chosen by Studio for this gear. The problem would be the same for 35188 rotary catch... if it was supported

[Studio] Planetary wheel hubs 46490c01
Philo replied to MajklSpajkl's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
You're welcome 😀 I don't doubt it was a good exercise to create connectivity, but I already made the job, a parts pack including the planetary hub is available here (along with other parts!) https://philohome.com/studio/packs.htm -
Have you tested? Studio files does embed all parts, including custom ones. That's a way to distribute custom parts (using cut and paste between models)

Stud.io 2.2.4 (1), bugs in the new release
Philo replied to efferman's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Yeah, seems heavily broken. Seen on Studio Facebook group: (note that this duiscussion would be better placed in Studio thread, not Part Designer one...) -

You can use Alt key to move in 1LDU increments, you can also key in values in coordinate fields. -

Extending linear actuators in Stud.io
Philo replied to JLiu15's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I have a parts pack containing LAs separated into components. You can get it here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xQTBbPcWl3zWQh60XOSxWvkOpqj2rqJI/view?usp=sharing To use it, unzip it and place its contents in your C:\Users\{your username}\AppData\Local\Stud.io . Spike Prime parts will then be available in Custom Parts palette of Studio. ...and no, i'm not a Stud.io expert! -

Looks like the dinosaur MLCad doesn't like that the submodels don't carry a file extension... You have to add a .ldr to each submodel file name and reference. I too would like to know if this thread is still maintained and indexed. I posted my latest models only on LDraw forum https://forums.ldraw.org/forum-17.html

[HELP] Modeling Complex Angles in Stud.io
Philo replied to JLiu15's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
LDCad information tool gives 5 decimal places, which should be more than enough for most usages. The limiting factor actually seems to be the number of digits kept when you save (3 dp), but that could improve in the future.
