  1. BrickBarn

    Dreams can come true!

I'm Chris! I have the great pleasure of owning a shop (Brick Barn) on the tiny island of Prince Edward in Canada. In my shop I have a Lego Collection. It began innocently enough one day in 1985 when I received my first Lego set 6061 Siege Tower. Then I received some town sets, and some classic space and then more town. Oh, and then there was that whole Pirates thing in 1989! I loved Lego. I loved creating whole realms with it. Minutes became hours. Hours became days. Homework was forgotten. But then one day, I was told I had to leave home (gasp) and get a job and a career and make money to pay my own way through life. So I did. Lego was forgotten for a time. It was the dark days (years). Then I opened my eyes one day and saw Lego had released 10030! Drool. So I bought it. Built it. And suddenly I remembered the good ol days. One purchase lead to another and another. Before I knew it, I had 600 sets, 350,000 bricks all neatly sorted into 100 25L tubs and 400 2L bins. So I built a shop. I quit my job. Quit my career. And I went to work spreading the joy of creative building to a new generation of collectors! So with this time to truly enjoy building Lego projects again, I hope to share some of my MOCs here and elsewhere. I look forward to this new journey.

  3. Hello, With the recent successfull launch of our inhouse design studio, printing high quality custom minifigures and parts, we have seen considerable growth with both corporate and consumer demand. We now require another designer to take on our ever growing list of design work/projects. We currently already work with an amazing designer and already have a great setup and so would be looking to mimic this offer. The designs are directly printed on to parts with a level of quality comparable with LEGOs own, we therefore require a designer who has an outstanding level of ability, skill and creativity, with the ability to turn around work in a short amount of time. Please note: We are not looking for a kid in his/her bedroom and a copy of MS paint. This is a genuine freelance project based job opportunity for a talented graphics artist. We do not print on to horrible decals/stickers/vinyls, all products are retail products and require a demanding high level of quality. You'll need to be able to design within similar design rules and guides that have made LEGO minifigures famous. We're not looking to make minifigures look realistic, we want them to look like minifigures. We're also not interested in creating 'copies' of figures that are already available from LEGO or other designers. We want a designer than help us 'fill the gaps'. Please send examples of your work to danny[at]firestartoys.com and a general introduction about your self, how long you've been designing for and why we should pick you. Whilst I will try my best to reply to all of you, please realise I get alot of emails and only so many hours in a day. Please do not be offended if you do not recieve a reply. Many thanks, Danny
