Hi everyone, I'm an AFOL and a long time collector and my children now have a good collection of their own. Recently my daughter received a 'LEGO compatible' set (Sluban) as a birthday gift from a schoolfriend. I don't want to see this set mixed in with the real LEGO....but I'm not going to take it away either. I feel a bit like I'm being a snob ...but basically...the solution I'm going for is to treat it like any non-LEGO toy i.e.. it stays separate. Obviously, this isn't as practical as separating Barbies and model cars etc. from the LEGO. The solution will probably be to glue the other model together. Any other AFOLs/parents given this any thought? Cheers, Luke

Hi all! I'm new here and I just wanted to know what your opinions are on selling MOCs using clone bricks (not bootlegs). Currently, many MOCers are able to provide instructions, but people wanting to build those MOCs either have to: 1) spend a lot of time and money acquiring the necessary pieces over marketplaces like BrickLink, or 2) acquire the pieces from various LEGO sets. It seems as though people could benefit from having clone bricks fill this void, and 3) even if the entire set is available on BL, it's often limited by the bricks that are available on the market. Also, I know how horrible it is that LEPIN would steal designs from MOCers on LEGO Ideas. And I feel terrible that such companies would hurt the community that way and give competitor brands a bad rep. But stealing aside, given how LEGO constantly rejects great LEGO Ideas submissions (with 10k supporters), wouldn't it be great if there was a competitor brand who would take up those designs and turn it into actual sets? I've also been told that clone brands might be helpful in providing MOCers with bricks in certain colours, or out-of-production bricks. The reason I ask all this is because I perceived this need in the community and I was wondering if someone ever tried working with a clone brand manufacturer. I've spoken to a few MOCers to ask if they would like to monetise their designs using clone brands. They do appear interested in monetising, but their opinions differ over the use of clone brands (some were for it, but others couldn't because they felt it would affect their reputation). However, those were just a couple of views. I wanted to know what the wider community thought. Forgive me, I'm quite new to the LEGO community and maybe I don't understand all the issues fully. However, I would really appreciate knowing your thoughts.

This fits in so many threads I think it deserves it's own.

So, I was debating wether or not to start this topic but, I'll go ahead and see . I'll be posting some of these atrocious fails everytime I find one. Feel free to join in ! 1. The oh-so Intelligent suic-glider. This glider is has undoughtably worst design ever. I mean just one unstable point for the ready to die ( ) minifigure? And when did gliders have a rotor? It gets worse... Faster yatch? Plane? I dread to think what the designer where doing when they where making these . That's not a plane, its a peice of junk that will kill the minifigure on first flight . The Faster Yatch will be a slower yatch with no controls! Great fun for the minifigure! Be sure to post your funnies and failures too and I will everytime I find some!

So, it appears many are keen on the 4" wide MOC style, but to my knowledge, there is no 4 wide straight track per say, only the "rack and pinion" styled one with the teeths. So today, I stumbled upon this clone brand sets (in store), that actually made 4 wide tracks. The appear to be from a brand called WANGE. Never seen them before, online. The track looks pretty good, it follows the style of the modern PF tracks. 1 stud wide sleepers too. Only potential issue is the way they are connected. the rails are offset, and could probably lead to some connection issues. Comparison to an Enlighten clone of the MOT steam engine. The boxes these things come in... They make some engine designs, that appear to be based off the Creator small trains. More clone sets. Just thought I'd share this. ;) Did not get anything, as they ran out of the Enlighten sets. Would have liked that Enlighten MOT Train from the 1st picture. Also, after playing with them, and feeling the sets in hand, I must say, the quality is very good. The brick fit is nice and tight too.

I was doing some eBay shopping for a certain minifig, and tried searching by "price: lowest to highest". I came across these Lego knock-off brand sets, and had a great time browsing through the... unique creations. There's a few I'd like your opinion on... #1. I guess it's a raft? with some sort of fluorescent space buoy on the side? I also like how there is a grappling hook, but no string to attach it. I would say the cable is an important aspect to a winch, but I'm not an engineer... #2. The most stable platform for transporting missiles? A tractor of course. And don't worry about a proper launcher, we'll put that sucker right on the front bumper! Then again, maybe it's not supposed to be a missile, but that's the first thing I envisioned... #3. Some intense SNOT work on this one. Is it a scooter? A motorcycle? I find the pieces on the side to be a bit random... And the operator's vest is simply stunning. #4. This one is my personal favorite. How could something like this make it past the design stage to production??? What on earth is this thing? Why a trike design instead of a quad? What is it supposed to be? So many questions... All things considered, most of the clone brand sets on eBay are pretty cool looking. I obviously can't speak for the quality, but at least they looked like real things! Anyone have any ridiculous Lego clone brand pics? I'd love to see an example of the quality compared to TLG products...
