    Old Fashioned Racing Cars

Hi there, some of you may know me as contributor to mostly GoH and BoBS, but I took the liberty to create some "fantasy old fashioned racing cars": (old and new gray clashes a bit but pls note the horn!) .. and these made me think of Mario Cart... Has somebody used the trash bins before? I hope you like these automobiles. Constructive criticism is welcome!
  2. Pontelli's football team has arrived at Trador. The team had agreed to come uniformly dressed ("I'll be wearing green - you too?") which has turned out as a mixture of greenish Eslandolean uniforms. But Oswald Brickinson is undeterred as always ("I hope that some of my boys will at least be putting their weapons aside while we play.") They are practising in the park of Trador - next to the new and extravagant fountain. Everyone is quite happy as they could get away from Asma April for some time. Every player is still running after the ball and no tactics were visible when they played at the fountain. As Brickinson explained: "We are after a lucky punch. Or goal or what the name was. And then the Gods may help us. This is our approach to winning!" Reporter: "Do you favour 4-3-3 over 4-4-2?" Brickinson: "What? Well, I like something that goes 7:1." C&C Welcome - and now I need to register this somewhere, right?

He could not understand that he had not found anything." Lady de Summer replied: "He must have felt quite dejected." "Yes, he must have." "So, my dear Captain, I am still waiting to hear how you got into the possession of this fine model of the 8 Provinces." "Right, right, Mylady. I am owing you the answer. But I will get to it in a minute." He paused to eat the rest of the cookie he was holding. "Well, I bought it at a flea market". "What?" "You heard right. You see, the Red Fandango, or Flynn Stewart - that was his real name - had to admit that he had failed. There was no wreck of the 8 Provinces, no treasure, nothing - just a lot of money spent. His failure went around as a rumour or story told in bars and taverns in every Corrington port." "And?" "Apparently Flynn Stewart got so angry, he destroyed two of the models." "Oh dear!" "Yes, he did. But then he saved the last one." "And?" "He sold it at a flea market. To make some money, maybe to buy himself another drink." "And?" "And I bought it. Simple as that. Bit of a long story, though, ma'am. You look agitated! Did I say something wrong? " Lady de Summer produced a pistol: "Quite the contrary, my dear Captain. You just said what I had hoped to hear." "Hand me the model of the 8 Provinces!" "But why...?" "Just do as you are told!" Captain Cookie took the model ship and carefully moved it towards Lady de Summer. She glanced at it briefly, opened the hull and smiled with relief. "What did you seek?" "The maps, my dear Captain, the three maps. And they are all here, in the remaining model. Fine, fine." "But the maps are worthless, ma'am." "So it may seem. But there was something in your story that I have heard a long time ago." "What was it?" "The second map had partly been drowned in some blueberry juice." "And?" "Well, isn't that obvious? That blueberry juice looked just like the colour of the sea on the map." "And?" "And so shape of the island where the 8 Provinces sank was altered - the Red Fandango was looking for the wrong island." "And?" "If you clean the map carefully, you will see what the treasure island really looks like. And you will find it. Or rather, I will." "If you know all these details about the juice and the modified maps, you must have heard about the model ships and maps before." "You are right, my dear Captain. If I may re-introduce myself: I am Angelina Lancaster - my family has owned the second ship. But I must leave you now, I already said too much." "Thanks for the dinner and the excellent wine." "A pleasure, Mylady." Captain Cookie waited until Lady de Summer had left with her prize. Then he sat back down again, with a sigh of relief and helped himself to another glass of wine. "That was hard work, but it worked out like I had hoped." He took a sip. After a while he looked at the Norwegian Blue again and the parrot stared back at him. "Angelina", the Norwegian Blue croaked. "Pretty bird", Captain Cookie muttered to himself. "Pretty bird." [END OF PART 1] I hope you've enjoyed the story so far. And let's see what the future will bring. A number of builds have been used to create the story up to this point. And some things I have built expecially for the story weren't used in the end... I'd like to thank Kai NRG and Garmadon for their excellent support. Their MOCs made the story shine. Could be a good idea to extend the collaboration when it comes to PART 2. C&C welcome!
  4. Captain Cookie loves to stop by at Puerto Desafio to purchase a fresh supply of eponymous cookies. "George's Pastry Shop" is the place the adventurous traveller is looking for when it comes to pastry: George's little helpers are scurrying around the shop and the workshop area. George and the happy customers remain undeterred. The shop owner himself is a tall but quiet guy with a rather large nose (nobody would dare to mention this fact in fear of their cookie supply being cut off) who hardly ever says a word. The dough used for the many cakes produced here is of finest brickworld quality. Customers also treasure the wonderful multi-coloured sugar coatings. And although Captain Cookie has already paid a small fortune for his bag of cookies, he feels obliged to give a large tip to one of George's co-workers, as always. Despite the fact that - amongst other ingredients - large quantities of bananas are delived to the shop everyday, banana cakes are not available for sale. As mentioned before the peckish traveller can find "George's Pastry Shop" in Puerto Desafio, not far from the harbour, right in the middle of Brickwall-Jones-Avenue. C&C welcome.

A terrifying storm had come and the pirates were in hot pursuit of the silver-loaded 8 Provinces: De Ruyter had his men load the guns but the fast pirate ship was moving carefully not to fall prey to the 8 Provinces broadsides. The pirates were using their guns to shoot at sails and rigging... .. but then finally Paul de Ruyter had carried out the perfect manoevre and the 8 Provinces was ready to send the pirates to the bottom of the sea. .. all guns were fired ... ... the 8 Provinces delivered a devastating broadside. The pirate ship was severely damaged and began to sink - but the evil gang of cutthroats was still able to fight back one more time. With a lucky strike they hit the fore-mast of the galleon. It came down with the crash of thunder, rendering the 8 Provinces almost immovable and causing her to heel. Water poored in through the open gunports .... the 8 Provinces was doomed. And so were the pirates... They went down and not a single evil soul survived. "And the 8 Provinces?" Lady de Summer asked. She sank only minutes later. "Did anybody survive?" But then there was a tiny figure amidst the fury of the wild ocean, holding on to an oar. Just one? Lady de Summer asked. Who was the survivor? The first mate, Mr. Errol. Although badly injured he managed to stay afloat and alive. What happened to Mr. Errol? Well, he did make it to some small settlement on the nearby island. Some landlord took care of him and gave him a room where he could rest and try to recover from his injuries. Mr Errol claimed to have been on an Oleon fishing boat and that he was washed overboard by a huge wave during the storm. He did not say a single word about the "8 Provinces" as he felt he could trust noone. His recovery, sadly, came to a halt and his condition got worse. Mr Errol began to see that he would meet his fate there and then. Having been an excellent carver and craftsman he asked for knives, wood and stuff - and he started to create the three models of the "8 Provinces", each in a different colour. I don't know how and where he got hold of the three different maps but he managed to hide them inside the small ships. Apparently he planned to send the model ships to his three brothers, but that could only be assumed as he died from yellow fever before he could ship the ships. After the only human survivor had died, nobody knew what happened to the "8 Provinces". She was considered "lost at sea". She became a rumour, a myth, a goodnight-story for children. The subject of endless speculations of what had happened to her and her silver treasure. What happened to the three ships after Mr Errol had died? Lady de Summer asked. Well, the landlord sold them to cover for the funeral and his expenses. And the brown ship was purchased by a man called Granger Stewart. He was the Red Fandango's grandfather. Years later, the Red Fandango found the ship in the attic and discovered that there was a map. Maybe there was some other hint included that gave him the idea to search for the other two ships. Also there must have been some written account of what had happened to the "8 Provinces". And what did the Red Fandango do next? [to be continued]

"Curses" he muttered to himself. A really mean gang of cutthroats was chasing the "8 Provinces". If there was an "evil pirate contest" these guys would surely have won. "Evil pirates and the weather is turning bad", Captain de Ruyter said to himself. "Can this day get worse?" It could. (to be continued)

    The 8 Provinces

[The Secret of the 8 Provinces - Prelude] [The Secret of the 8 Provinces - 1st Chapter] The Secret of the 8 Provinces - 2nd Chapter The Secret of the 8 Provinces - 3rd Chapter The Secret of the 8 Provinces - 4th Chapter The Secret of the 8 Provinces - 5th Chapter Captain Cookie continued: The "8 Provinces" was an Eslandolean ship some 50 years ago - aptly named after the 8 Provinces of Eslandola. One fine autumn day she was sailing home to Eslandola - and everyone was in a good mood. The captain, Paul de Ruyter, was famous and experienced. His crew was fine and well trained. And he had a fine first mate he could trust - Mr. Errol. And trust was needed for the "8 Provinces" was carrying a precious load: The ship was filled with silver. There were silver ingots on every deck and the King was anxiously waiting for this valuable transport to come home to port. The weight of the silver made the "8 Provinces" slower than usual. So the captain knew that trouble was ahead when the look-out cried: "Pirate sail on the horizon!" [to be continued] I had some trouble myself with the shooting of the ship as it toppled at the beginning of the photo session and was damaged in many ways. It took some time to repair the model - and, as often in these cases, I could not detect all defects. So some things are still wrong on the pictures, which is why I could not use too many of them here. Well, you will see some more in the next chapter. [edit] Or just now:

    The Secret of the Ships

[The Secret of the 8 Provinces - Prelude] [The Secret of the 8 Provinces - 1st Chapter] The Secret of the 8 Provinces - 2nd Chapter The Secret of the 8 Provinces - 3rd Chapter The Secret of the 8 Provinces - 4th Chapter Captain Cookie continued: And so the highwayman .... Lady De Summer: Does this man actually have a name? Oh, yes. He called himself the "Red Fandango". Lady De Summer: Hardly his real name... So the Red Fandango finally had three ships in his possession. Lady De Summer: Three? You have only mentioned two models that he has stolen or robbed! Quite right. He had inherited the third ship. Or rather the "first" ship. He had found it in the attic of his family home after his father had passed away. And he also knew what to expect from the models. He just had to take them apart. Lady De Summer: (gasping) Hidden in the hull of the first ship was a sea map. And the second model produced another map - showing specific islands in that sea region. He had to pay attention not to ruin his fine red coat as the second map had partly been drowned in some blueberry juice or so. ... and the third ship? Contained a map showing a certain bay on an unspecified island. I cannot quite follow. What are all these maps about? Well, madam, the maps were chosen and designed in such a way that you would only find the destination once you had all three of them. The first one defined a large region of the sea. But you would not know what to do with it. The second one specified an island - which you would not be able to locate without the first map. The final map then displays the location of a special bay on that island. And what is to be found in that bay? The famous wreck of the "8 Provinces"! My dear captain, you need to help me out: What was the "8 Provinces"? That, my dear Lady, I will be telling you in a minute. [to be continued]

    Stealing from the Rich

[The Secret of the 8 Provinces - Prelude] [The Secret of the 8 Provinces - 1st Chapter] The Secret of the 8 Provinces - 2nd Chapter The Secret of the 8 Provinces - 3rd Chapter Captain Cookie continued: And so in the days that followed Corrington troops were guarding towns and noblemen. But despite all of their efforts, our highwayman was unstoppable. And he found something in the attic of a house. "Gold?" Lady de Summer asked. "No, of course not. Another model of a ship." ,,, and then he vanished into the night. I cannot believe that Corrington did nothing about this. Oh, Mylady, they did. And they had to. A lawyer in a bad mood appeared at Colonel Greybeards office. Colonel Greybeard: Hello, old chum, fine fellow, come in, come in. Who are ye? Lawyer: I am a certified lawyer of the high-esteemed Frank, Frank, Frank, Frank and Wrzygrislovsky. Colonel Greybeard: Jolly good, old chum. And which one of them is you? Lawyer: I am Wrzygrislovsky. But that is beside the point. My client demands that this robber be caught and punished. Colonel Greybeard: Good Golly, Miss Molly. Yes, yes, old pal, we're working on it. Horses for courses. Righty right. Never look a gift apple in the mouth. Lawyer: My client is not under the impression that your men are investing the required effort. Colonel Greybeard: Blimey. Terribly sorry, my friend, rest assured we are doing the best we can. Mouse and man. Lawyer: Then that may not be enough. Double your efforts, or you will face the consequences. [leaves] Colonel Greybeard (mutters to himself): Shiver me timbers... I'll send my best men... again. [C&C welcome]

[CH V Cat E] Easy Come, Easy Go

[to be read aloud and rapidly - like a sports commentator] And here we are again for tonights final round of GoT - that famous "Game of Treasure", our treasure hunt. Well, and there they go on the left, the brave islanders, digging for the treasure, handing over the gold bars... They are working away quickly - but wait, what is that? A Marderian soldier is stealing the gold! They are forcing the natives to work for them! My goodness, there is no end to Marderian evilness. Passing the ingot to the next Marderian player, moving midfield. Steady. And the gold is gone! This came quite unexpectedly for Mardier - pirate Henry was taking a shot here. Excellent move for the pirates. The pirates now in the lead! But no - Mardier is back and more evil than ever. The pirates have lost the gold and it all goes to Mardier again. We all know the Marderian motto: "No need to be nice on the way up 'cos we're not going down" This is exciting, it is the second half in this final game and Mardier has got the gold. Which means Mardier is not broke and will continue in the GoT league in the upcoming season. Well they will surely give Eslandola, Oleon and Corrington a hard time... But again "no" - Mardier is hit from behind by another pirate. And Mardier is going down after a wonderful "thud". I heard a whisper "for Brickwall" - I suspect this guy is one of Brickwall Jones' nephews. And here we are - the pirates are back in the game. Excellent thudding there from Captain Redbeard. The higher they come, the hardier they fall in Mardier. What is this? There must be some disagreement within the pirate team? One of them is pretty tied up at the moment. Has he been double crossed by one of his red-bearded mates? No, Eslandola is back and they are striking with a vengeance! They are sweeping the ground from pirates and they have taken the gold! The Eslandolean flag is waving all over the place. And the crowd is cheering! What a great match, tonight. Certainly no disappointment for the international spectators. And on the right I can see Colonel Brickinson. Brickinson is leading his team to victory. Nobody expected the Eslandolean army. They have been using their chief weapon: surprise. Surprise and cleverness. And I wonder where they got the information that brought them here to this secret place just in time for the final moments of the game. The ingots are piling up for Eslandola. So the score is Mardier: 0, Eslandola: 542! Aaaaaaaaand the game is over! A big win for Brickinson's team tonight - and they are celebrating! The champagne is flowing as the gold is being shipped to Pontelli. What a night for Eslandola. That is it for Mardier. They are broke and won't be able to afford the license for the next season. I can see the debt collectors gathering at the side of the field and the first vultures have started to circle in ...

    Tiptoe Through The Wheat Field

[The Secret of the 8 Provinces - Prelude] [The Secret of the 8 Provinces - 1st Chapter The Secret of the 8 Provinces - 2nd Chapter Captain Cookie continued: "So, of course, the Corrington troops were alarmed and set out to catch the highwayman." "Did they succeed", Lady De Summer asked. "Initially very much so. They were able to track him down and chase him into a wheat field..." Sergeant Salt and his men were confident. They would find that evil robbing highwayman. The field was practically surrounded, there was not escape. Sergeant Salt ordered his men to comb through the field. Farmer Giles, however, was furious. He had not seen such outrageous vandalism in his whole life! The farmer cursed the soldiers and maybe this was the reason why they did not catch the highwayman. The highwayman seemed to have disappeared, vanished into thin air. The soldiers searched and searched until nightfall and then returned to their barracks ...

    Too Much Monkey Business

The tension was rising in the court room of Pontelli. Judge Enrico Fineman was under stress. He had not expected a trial against the Mayor of Pontelli, Alberto da Pontelli. The prosecutress, Lady Asma April, was just closing her plea: "This monkey business that is going on is just unbelievable. This man is a member of the Eslandolean Parliamant - and what is the first thing he does? He brings his monkey to the Hall of Eslandola! What a disgrace! I ask you: Does this man have no honour in himself? Does he think he can make a fool of Eslandola? That he can subject Pontelli to ridicule?" "Do you think that a man like Alberto should continue to be a member of the Parliament? I very much doubt so!" Alberto had never felt so bad in his whole life. Now this strange woman was after him, after he had done so much for Pontelli and Eslandola. Lady April had finished her plea. Judge Enrico Fineman cleared his throat to announce the verdict: "Alberto da Pontelli. The court wants you to retire as a member of the Eslandolean Parliament. Will you accept the verdict." "Yes, I will", Alberto replied quietly. "That is not enough", Lady April shouted, "he also has to step down from his position as Mayor!" Judge Fineman hesitated for a moment: "Alberto, will you also step down from your role as Mayor of Pontelli?" "Yes, I will", Alberto replied quietly. The Judge looked at Lady Asma: "But who will be the leader of our city?" "I will", Lady April coldly returned. "And I will make Pontelli proud again!" The Judge banged his gavel and the court room fell into an uneasy silence. C&C Welcome. To leadership: Please note change in the role of Mayor on Pontelli. This is now Lady Asma April.

    Stand and Deliver

[The Secret of the 8 Provinces - Prelude] [The Secret of the 8 Provinces - 1st Chapter "My dear Lady De Summer, there was a highwayman who was operating in Corrington." "Where exactly?" "On Cocovia - between King's Harbour and Quinnsville. He was robbing coaches." "Many coaches?" "Many coaches." "Usually Corrington travellers, but he was also robbing the occasional Oleon vacationist." "And what did he take from his victims?" "That was the interesting part. He never took money or lupines. It seemed that he was looking for something more interesing. Then one day..." "Stand and deliver! You move at your peril, for I have two pistols here." "Please, dear Sir, don't take our gold" "I do not want your gold" "Please, good man, do not take our lupines." "I am not interested in lupines". "Then... what do you want from us." "The ship." "What ship?" Lady De Summer asked. "A yellow model of the 8 Provinces." "Yellow? But your model is reddish." "Quite so, Mylady. You will understand soon. Let me go on with the story." "I got it", cried the Garvian privateer. "Steady", shouted the other. "It is mine. I have caught it first", yelled the Marderian fisherman. Captain Cookie's Delight

[The Secret of the 8 Provinces - Prelude] "Well, thanks for bringing me that exquisite Norwegian Blue. I cannot say how happy I am to be in the possession of such a fine parrot. My previous one has gone to meet its maker. How can I return your favour, Lady De Summer?" "My dear Captain, a good story would do. How, for instance, did you acquire your new ship?" "The Delight?" "Yes, Captain." "Well, Mylady, you might remember that infamous poker night in the Red Herring." "You mean the night, when that strange Marquis from Olean won such a lot of gold? I have heard rumours about that. Some people said something about the true identity of the Marquis. Like that he was actually from Mardier." "Well, it was a fantastic night because after he had won so much I challenged the Marquis for a final round..." "... it was tough. The Marquis had three of a kind - but I beat him with a full house. And as I had already won all of his gold, he offered me his ship. He said, she would be a fine, seaworthy lady, she would just need some minor repairs of the sails." "And I thought 'never look a gift horse in the mouth'." "This ship is making me immensly proud. Every detail is golden." "And the cabin is impressive too", Lady De Summer replied. "And so I named her 'Cookie's Delight'" "Fabulous, fabulous. I have another question, my dear Captain." "Out with it!" "This model of a reddish ship..." "The 8 Provinces?" "Yes, Captain, where and how did you get it?" "Oh, Mylady, that is a longer story. And more exciting." "I am all ears." [End of prelude] I am starting a new storyline here. And I managed to turn the "Silent Mary" into something more operable... C&C welcome!

  24. It was a bright day and the sun was beating down on the streets of Kings Port. Inside the governor's hall the temperature and the mood was much milder. Admiral van Draumen had found the courage to propose to her - Princess Vinapptshitshi of Mardier, King Alphonso's beloved daughter. As he kneeled down before her she gladly answered his beaming smile - and his proposal by a softly whispered "yes". Van Draumen had backed his proposal with a show-off of his riches, but it seemed that the princess cared more for him than for his money. Which was good, as van Draumen did not expect the King to approve of this marriage. Troubled times lay ahead, but this was not the time to worry. This was a day to celebrate C&C Welcome.
  25. Shortly before heading off to the docks of Pontelli to check out a new small armed sloop while waiting for his first mate to return from Eslandola's Old World capital of Terelli... Captain Whiffo strode up and down the porch in ecstacy, gazing out across the large, verdant plantation now covered with ready-to-harvest oats. The workers scurrying hither and yon (under the watchful eyes of their monkey supervisors which Mayor da Pontelli had provided, of course) were an absolute pleasure to behold. The East Trade Wind Company had finally taken the large step he had meditated so long, and in no time it would assuredly be as large, powerful, and rich in the new world as it ever was in the old! (One of the monkey supervisors on his courier:) Wheels rattled along the road and the Captain looked up intelligently, if not mysteriously (mostly, you see, because he loved mystery, not because there was any real mystery in the whole affair). For once he was not carrying his beloved cutlass, as he was not sure but that it would get in the way while showing de Chauncourtois' niece about the house and new plantation which she had come out to see (though he was sorely inclined to regret leaving it behind as its clanking was the only thing missing - he thought - to perfect the sensation of mysteriousness) - but he might as well as have spared his pains, for he could have known from previous experience that his cutlass and his habit of rapping it on his hook and smashing it into everything was a constant source of amusement to de Chauncourtois' good-humored niece. The carriage rolled to a stop just before the door - and Captain Whiffo, throwing the cutlass with an effort out of his mind (for the present), bowed slightly and offered her his hand. "Good day, miss, shall I show you inside?" ...Speaking of which! - Let's go inside, shall we? Originally I had only been planning on the hinging wall, but in the end, the roof was detachable as well, so thankfully the interior was very easy to take pictures of! It is furnished with a large kitchen, Some furniture... An instrument - And a good-sized (if not over-sized ) fireplace: A few closeups: The pig-pen (the colors of which were inspired especially by Ayrlego's recent challenge entry, along with the rest of that collab)... And a final overview: And, I've finally finished! Just about ever since the launch of the Brethren of the Brick Seas I've been meaning to build a large plantation for the ETWC, but only recently have I been able to actually get around to planning and building it. Here's my section of the collab with Captain Braunsfeld (be sure to check out his excellent section here) for Eslandola's East Trade Wind Company. It took a great deal longer than I was hoping for (mostly due to RL), but I'm rather happy with how it turned out, and it was definitely fun (and somewhat challenging at times) to attempt to make it clearly part of the same plantation and yet give it my own touch (well, I suppose that last part came pretty naturally! ) Special thanks to Captain B for working on this collab and waiting very patiently for my side here to be complete! Credit goes to Gideon for the door design and to Legopard for the chair (slightly altered here), and the carriage is a modification of the one found in LEGO's excellent POTC London Chase. Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome!
