Salida Este, Ferro Azure Acamus is an old man now. He lived his younger days in the old country, dreaming of adventure and working as a tanner. He's retired now and life in the crowded streets of the old country held no more allure to him than rules hold for sea rats, and when the discovery of New Terra reached his old ears he high-tailed it to the docks. He caught a ride on a small trader heading for the islands, which dropped him on Ferro Azure. He built himself a small hut and dug a garden for himself on the outskirts of town, and settled down to write the adventures he'd always dreamed of having, but had never been able to do. The simplicity was beautiful and he now spends his days wandering the island, writing his adventures. Open Roof Closed Roof Garden (Spot the snake) My final freebuild for the month. Licensed as a small residence. C&C Welcome!

[OL - CH2B] The Diary of Derelin Magini
Kolonialbeamter posted a topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Ahoy once more, mateys! I'd like to present my entry for Challenge II B: Strike your Colors! Warning: Contains not only much text, but later also violent scenes, blood, and general misery... better go grab some popcorn first, to enjoy this properly Here goes. When Ivo Fortesque set foot on the island, nothing was the way he expected things to be. None of his men were here! Instead, all he and his crew found were burnt remains of a wooden structure. There was no sign of any living soul. Fortesque was terrified. What had happened while he was gone? As they continued searching for clues, a member of his crew found some pages of what seems to have been a diary, buried in the sand. As they deciphered the increasingly shaky hand writing, they froze in agony... The Diary of Derelin Magini First entry: After leaving ten volunteers behind on the island our captain named 'Berelli', we sailed north-east, only to be caught in a storm, causing much damage to the Santa Clara. Fortunately, we found another island close by. After some repairs to the ship, the captain set sails back to Terreli with only a sparse crew, to report to the King about this new paradise-like island here. He promised to return with more supplies in a matter of two months. We – that is another twelve volunteers, including myself – have so far set up a small outpost here at the beach. It's been a tough job these past days, chopping down trees, building a cabin, setting up a defensive perimeter... I'm tired as hell, but we're all pretty positive about being here, and eager to start exploring this island. I wonder what riches await us! Second entry: Yesterday we took a first trip into the jungle, looking for fresh water, since our supply will only last another three days. We didn't find any river or creek so far. As nice as the isle looks from the beaches, all that vegetation in the interior gives me the creeps. I find it hard to orientate, and the heat is awful. But what I find most irritating, is that the natives we saw on our arrival here seem to have disappeared. Of course it was Velasques who had to tell a story about them being evil demons, going to kill us all. I'd much rather believe we're just not that interesting to them. Third entry: Still no fresh water. And we cannot penetrate further into the interior, the jungle is too bloody dense. Tensions are rising here, Velasques is turning into a source of trouble, scaring everybody. I don't want to believe what he's ranting, but I could swear during the night I heard the sound of drums coming from the jungle. This is turning into a nightmare. Fourth entry: Velasques has gone mad! He ran off into the jungle tonight, and returned covered in blood with the head of a native this morning! What has he done, he's doomed us all!! Fifth entry: Drums! All night long the sound of drums echoing from the jungle! No sleep, no water, no relief. We're all praying to the Gods... Sixth entry: They're coming! There's no way out... The following is a depiction of what could have happened to the brave volunteers. And a 360° view: For higher resolutions follow links to flickr! about: This scene was to some extend inspired by the fate of 'La Navidad', the first Spanish settlement in the New World, established by Christopher Columbus. Lego wise, well, all parts exist, all is buildable, just to display minifig action I turned gravity 'off'. Minifig placement in LDD is no fun at all, and the roof of that hut must have been the single most annoying thing I've ever build digitally. However, I kind of liked portraying all the bloody stuff The renders are made with Bluerender, which has the advantage of being much faster than Pov-ray, and also more realistic in lighting. Only thing is the water here doesn't really 'shine' in light transparent blue. Oh, and the 360° view consists of 100 renders, taking two full days to finish. I hope you like it, C&C as always very welcome!- 22 replies

The following story says it all! I wanted to create it in a more professional way but after a wise advice, i made it in MS PowerPoint, a program i was most proficient with. Enjoy! P.S: These stories are always coming from real life!

Ahoy again, second FB incoming: The 'Commerce de Breshaun' The 'Commerce de Breshaun' is the first capital ship built in Breshaun's 'Royal Shipyards'. She was ordered and paid for by the Breshaun Chamber of Commerce, and donated to the 'Office Royal de la Marine' as a sign of gratitude for continued Royal support and investment. Constructed with a sleek hull, and rigged as a barque, she is a fast and agile sailer, able to keep up with the top speed ships of the Oleander merchant fleet. May her voyages be blessed by Poseidon so she will bring fortune to the Empire! Next, with a reduced number of sails, for you to see some deck details: And last, but not least - and almost already a tradition - IFS shaming: about: As always, all parts exist. This time a bit more emphasis on sails and rigging, although the hull also comes with some unique features. Her hull is exactly 100 studs long at the water line, making her slightly larger than 'La Recouvrance', and her beam is 23 studs wide. Credits for the 'Fleur de Lys' design go to Gideon! As you said, works out well on a ship I hope you enjoy her looks, C&C welcome! Vive le Roi!

Gideon is visiting a prospecting effort lead by the famous Oleander geologist Hugo d'Argent, on the newly discovered Ìle de Zeus. The gentlemen are of course letting someone else do the hard work.

Challenge 2B A long time ago many factions fought over a tiny key island outpost in the Seas of Storm. The lookout post was installed by Oleon and provided intelligence of ship movements in the Seas of Storm. Corrington, unfriendly to Oleon, seized the outpost with a small expedition force. Their victory may have been short lived though. Victory Is Short Lived by dr_spock_888, on Flickr Here's a little fun challenge: Can you guess off the top of your head which LEGO set the island base is from? No looking up or searching.

After the failed attack at Eltina, Oleander colonial leaders decided it was to their best interest if Eltina had some enhanced fortifications. Alas, with Eltina built on rather flat grounds with not much wood around (since most of the nearest small forests were cut down in order to establish sugar plantations), earthen fortifications were the most suitable solution. Below, our Oleon finest, enjoy themselves building them. And of course, given the significance of the fortifications in our proud military history, nothing less than a Field General was needed to supervise the whole task.

Sending Oleon soldiers back to the mother country ! When first Oleanders landed on Berelli, the Ténotclaxcans welcomed them friendly. But when the leader of the clerics tryed to change the faith of the natives, the high priestess Zumo de Kapayas declared Oleon men dangerous for the Ténotclaxcans. So the king had to lead a war against those invaders. During the fights the main act lead by the king himself was the boarding of the oleon cutter "La vaillante" ! In this action the natives showed the oleon soldiers how determined they were, and the clerics ordered a strategic retreat after that act of war. It is during the departure of the Oleon fleet of Berelli that the former king of the Ténotclaxcans was killed by an aft cannon shot fired in order to protect the retreat of Oleon ships. The boarding of "La vaillante" : Battle on the deck of the Oleon cutter : The Oleon ship and its crew : The Ténotclaxcans :

In Salida Este, on the Island of Ferro Azure It's time to pick some Cotton! The workers are picking and weeding diligently. Except for that guy. He looks like he's taking advantage of the plants' height to take a siesta. He should be hung by his toes from a palm tree. To be licensed shortly as a Small Plantation. C&C Welcome!

Hi there, inhabitants of New Terra, pretty late, but here goes, presenting my first FB this month: The 'Royal Shipyards' in Breshaun With the ever growing demand for new ships in the waters of New Terra the naval yards in mainland Oleon alone cannot keep up. So some time ago already the 'Office Royal de la Marine' had decided to set up a branch of the 'Royal Shipyards' in the city of Breshaun, providing high-quality shipbuilding and ship maintenance expertise on-site. The compound is flourishing. It's constantly growing in size, and new buildings and installations are being added regularly, obvious proof of Oleon's expanding presence on the waves, as well as Breshaun's increasing importance for the Empire. Last month I presented a small peripheral facility to you, this time we're visiting the entrance of the 'Royal Shipyards' main compound situated directly at the mouth of Breshaun's harbor. about: Not much to say about it, could have been larger, but this month was pretty crowded. All is buildable, I'm kind of cool with the way the gate's arch turned out, the rest is rather regular business. The 'Crown-Wheel-Anchor'TM is the registered emblem of the 'Royal Shipyards' The architectural style is influenced by buildings I saw in Rochefort, France. It was a fun build, experienting with two colored walls and a SNOTed ceiling, but making the rider hold that letter was a real annoying job More of this shipyard is likely to follow. Thanks for watching, C&C as always very welcome! Vive le Roi!

Felipe de la Manzana is on the trail of the Golden Apple. To find some clue about its location, he thought studying the Ténotclaxcans was the best idea. Here Felipe is searching for a scientific help... Heading Quinnsville, Cocovia, the new settlement of Lord Smaugton, Friend and member of MAESTRO in Corrington, Felipe encoutered a new fisherman ready to work for the Trade Company. So he managed to help him to settle a fishing business in cocovia. As he arrived near the Corleander settlement, Felipe saw the value of this new fisherman (here it is, if you missed it). So he decided to salute him and see how the business is. - Are you sure it's here ? Asked Felipe to his escort. - Yes sure, sir ! answered shortly the guard. - Ah ?! I thought it would be bigger... sadly commented Felipe. The fisher's commerce was just a small shag along the beach with a little wharf already installed. Of course, for such a young colony it was fine, but Felipe forgot what it was to settle a new town. It was his friend, Lady Elysabeth, who took the responsability of the new MAESTRO settlement in Berelli, and Felipe de la Manzana didn't stay too long in the island. So he knew few of what to do to develop a new town. The only thing he was sure of, a new town is needing money, and food ! A businees in which Felipe was master. The fishing boat was just arriving with captain Santiago. Felipe yeld a "Yohoo !" Santiago answered joyfully, the fishing party was, again, a lucky one... - Welcome Sir ! Said Santiago landing the wharf. - How do you do ! Take an apple ! Welcomed Felipe, Santiago declined the apple politely. - I thought your business was more developped here ! continued Felipe. - Ah! No ! of course not ! we are in a very young settlement here in Quinnsville. But what are you doing here ? you are not only here to see me ? Are you ? - No, No I am here to hire some of the best scientists Lord Smaugton could find me to study the Ténotclaxcans. I think they are hiding some secrets about my quest ! - Ah great news ! you are progressing though you lost the Appleseed, I thought you would let it go... - No ! I will never give up this quest ! Interrupted Felipe. - Ok Sir, I did not want to bother you... - No worry... I have to leave... I am going to see those scientists. So good luck with the fishing wharf here, and goodbye. - Thank you Senor Felipe ! Goodbye. Concluded Santiago discargoing his catch. To be continued in Tomsche part... I am continuing the mad quest of Felipe and I found a collaborative work to do with Tomsche, a.k.a. Lord Smaugton. I hope you will enjoy it.

Ahoy, mateys! This is my entry for Challenge II A. Shields and Daggers The race for New Terra is heating up. More and more land is being claimed every day. Fortune seekers from everywhere are heading out looking for riches, and settlers follow. But most newly established settlements are very short lived, perrishing as quickly as they were set up, either due to a lack of supplies – or defensive capacity. Everyone knows the terrifying stories of the very first settlement attempts of the Mardians and Eslandolans, everyone knows the consequences of neglected protection. New Terra isn't quite the paradise it looks like. So in his infinite wisdom His Majesty the King of Oleon has decided that all colonizing efforts undertaken by the loyal subjects of the realm will be determined, but cautious ones: The claim we lay to the land will stretch no further than the reach of our swords. So as we claim the Île de Zeus for our glorious Empire, His Majesty has dispatched additional King's Guards to the island. Their task is not only to crew the forts that are being set up along with new settlements, but also to establish a multitude of smaller gun batteries along the shores, shielding the Île in all directions. These defensive positions surely aren't enough to repel a fully-flegded invasion, but they are certainly capable of dealing with smugglers, pirates and other predators. And when push really comes to shove, 'La Royale' will always fly Oleon's colors on the waves. Small patrol boats might not be seen as mighty swords, but handled with determination and skill, a dagger can do serious damage, too. about: As always, everything except for the vessel's sails can be build. The water is a delicate matter, consisting of many rows of 1x2 plates linked by 1x1 round plates wherever possible. This is my first ever attempt at rockwork, and it only caused me to despair and curse a high two digit number of times... Not sure if it's to the liking of the experts among you. Sorry for the back of that cliff looking so dull, but all I managed to come up with in order to 'close' it were slopes. Oh, and the boat's curvature is done with hinge bricks, all held in place by a multitude of flex tubes and clips, most of them well hidden below the deck. I hope you enjoy, C&C welcome! Vive le Roi!

Situated at the mouth of River of True Faith, just outside Astrapi settlement at Zeus' island and built on a bare rock, this fishing post provides most of the fish sold at the island and the waters around it. Hugo d'Offren spent a day there to evaluate the fish drying process and buy food for the fleet. (I wanted to try a build on a barren rock without greenery and i have yet to find a solid way of making flat builds that aren't somewhat boring. Any feedback given is appreciated) Thanks for watching!

Fort Severus, Fishers'Cove, Berelli After the diplomatic interviews in Berelli between Corrington, the Ténotclaxcans and Eslandola, Felipe de la Manzana agreed with Lord Erie to build a fort that could oversee all the island for both Corrington and Eslandola. So Felipe asked a brilliant eslandian officer, el Colonel Ignacio Severus, a renown fort builder and a great miltary officer, to help him. Severus decided that the center cove of the island known as fishers'cove could be the best place to build a fortification. It has a rocky point at the south of the beach where the natives are regularly harpon fishing, so it is the best position according to Ignacio Severus. Ignacio Severus lead himself the begining of the building. Of course, it is made in wood for now but when Corrington will give hand, they will help to better this structure and enhanced it. The fort position did not seem to disturb the Ténotclaxcans at all. Some are still going to the beach with their harpons.

Hi, when I did the "Fortify the Fortifications of the Fort" entry for Challenge II, I was struck by the thought that other uniforms than the Eslandolean green ones would look much better in that MOC. So, not linked to the challenge and not as a free-build, I have played around with the different teams we have in BoBS: As you can see, white and blue makes a fine contrast. ... red, white and black is working out fine too! Sea rats are colourful! Oh, sorry, this has turned into some sort of desaster... But I am sure that Captain Cookie and his gang are having fun! (The pirate on the ground is sleeping, if you were worried.) And here's how it started: Hey, this is the first MOC to feature all factions of BoBS - I apply for being frontpaged! ( larger pictures and a few more on flickr) C&C Welcome - Happy Easter!

With the new found islands being invaded by Oleon, Corrington, and Eslandola en mass, a small group of a pirates settled on Isla del Diablo and starting preparing defenses to ensure no one else could lay claim to what was theirs. Built on the edge of the sand, close enough to shelter of the trees but also within view of the beaches. the pirate's fort was perfectly located.

This is a Class 3A ship. She is captained by Ching Shih. Previously: Recruiting at Marco's This Is Not the Wealthy Housing of Rassilon Falling Out with Foxx Cantu's Fort in Rassilon The Viper Jail Break! Cantu's House While Cantu was being robbed, Li Fang and his crew of miscreants were successfully defending a pirate convoy against the nefarious wiles of an Oleon privateer. The result was that Li Fang succeeded as a captain where his father had failed. He led his crew in the successful capture of a prize! The La Oleon was quite the prize. Some of the crew from The Viper switched ships to help bring it into port at Rassilon. In port more crew were hired to help man the new ship. Even though she was painted in Oleon's favorite blue, she flew the black proudly showing her new ownership. OoC: Please note that I did "recycle" much of my last ship to build this one. I changed the sloping on the sides of the hull, swapped the dark red tiles for blue, and changed the masts. As this was a ship I captured and not a "new" boat, I hope no one minds that I went this route. I don't plan on making this a habit, but with little time to build this month, I thought this would be an acceptable shortcut.

Felipe de la Manzana, after an excellent trade run, (see here for more informations) sent a letter to Lord Smaugton in order to hire scientists to study the Ténotclaxcans myths and legends. He was still hoping to find a clue concerning the Golden Apple with these stories. It was also the occasion to meet and help a new MAESTRO fisherman who wanted to settle his activity in Cocovia, the Quinnsville island, because of the known abundance of Swordfish. Felipe head sail to Quinnsville. Arriving around Cocovia, he saw his new friend, Captain Santiago. His reputation of a lucky man was true as he was already at work to catch a splendid Marlin ! The fish fought well, but the two men in their bright new skiff, La Espada, managed to kill the Marlin. The fish was bound to a hook alongside the boat and brought to the port. Santiago was awared that sharks could be a threat and tryed to eat his catch. He protected his Marlin firing at those predators with his flintlock pistol. A game that he his good at... Seeing that fish party, Felipe was happy to see that MAESTRO's investment in La Espada of Captain Santiago was an excellent idea. He decided to meet the young lucky captain to help him develop his fishing wharf in Quinnsville, Cocovia. “Luck is a thing that comes in many forms and who can recognize her?” Ernest Hemingway, The old man and the sea. This little fishing boat is a Class 0 ship (Skiff) I am licensing with Captain Santiago in command. Of course, the fishing party and the captain name are an Homage to Hemingway text. Though, I decided to choose a younger captain for story purpose. I tryed another hull technique, but the sails are not custom sails, they are old official LEGO sails. I hope you will like this little skiff.

This is my third freebuild of the month. If you're not one of the Sea Rats and you like the build please (And don't forget to state your allegiance). Previously... Breaking Out Complications Next... A Planning Session Finally back aboard the Bleak Angel, Captain Dracken calls his first mate, Alastair Jakes, and helmswoman Liliana Vespwood to his cabin to discuss the next move. And, of course, where Liliana goes, Althea goes too. Inside, Althea picks up a small native idol and sits on the Captain's bed while the others gather around a table full of charts. “It's all very impressive,” Jakes says, “but where is it leading?” “Have you heard of Oedon Black?” Dracken asks. “Can't say I have, Cap'n.” “Well,” Dracken begins, “some time ago Oedon Black was a rather well known trader in certain circles...” “And,” Liliana interrupts, “by trader you mean smuggler.” “Only some of the time,” Dracken explains, “but yes, Mister Black did quite a bit of smuggling. Made a fair amount on trading outlawed texts, tomes and artefacts in Oleon.” “Sounds like Mister Drave,” Liliana states, “but since you're using the past tense am I correct to presume Black is no longer with us?” “Correct,” Dracken says flatly, “the authorities caught up with him and, for his crimes, executed him. Sky burial, or so I heard. Wouldn't even let his soul rest in Hades. However, Oedon Black knew better than to store his wares somewhere the Faith could find them.” A voice rose from behind the trio. “You mean the Heretic's Hoard, don't you?” Althea asked. “I do indeed,” Dracken responds, “I already had the key before our misadventure on LeBellan. Now I have the last map we need to find it.” “Let's get to work, then.” Jakes says.

MRCA build of the Feb. MRCA results Captain log, Bastion, star date 3-616. Today we received our copy of the latest Kings Ports Advertiser and Ship List. It is reported in the paper that the White Skull had saved the Le Dindon from a pirate attack. Le Dindon arrived safely at port with all her cargo intact. We found an artist rendition in the paper of the White Skull protecting Le Dindon from attack and fighting off the pirates. It appears that something was lost in the translation to the paper's outsourced graphics department. It is also reported that the White Skull had later captured a pirate ship. It was rumoured the crew surrender expediently after Susieh Cheng dispatched their captain to shark bait status. We are looking forward to the return of Susieh with her booty.

Captain Log, Day 59 : We start our run with an overload of apples and cider from our first production in Berelli and, in order to maintain our good relationships with Corrington, we joined one of their run. This Coyle Shipping Company seems to be a reliable and trustful partner, so I totally agreed to follow their lead. Day 60 : We were strongly hit by a hurricane ! The winds are terrible ! Hopefully, I saw it come in time and my crew managed to stabilize the ship in this storm. We have lost our road and no sign of our escort nor the Mercator, the Corry ship that was with us. I am afraid that the corries didn't passed the hurricane... Day 63 : We recovered our escort warship but still no sign of the Mercator. I am afraid they are lost... Day 65 : At last ! We made land in Belson. My concerns about the Mercator are proved to be true. The place reserved for this ship sharing our quay stayed desesperately empty. We started to unload our cargo in the Corrington Capital when a man head towards me and asked me to help him. He was the client the Mercator should have delivered but the ship did not reach port in Belson. He asked if he could buy us our surplus ! Of course I agreed to sell him in a totally "honest" price. It seems that Belson will not lack of Apples and Cider this month... La Raenette at quay, unloading cargo. A "honest" price... While he was in Belson, Felipe took the occasion to send a letter to his corlander friend and MAESTRO member, Sir Thomas Smaugton : "My dear friend, As you probably know, MAESTRO encountered a native tribe named the Ténotclaxcans. They are friendly but have strange habits and myths they are not ready to share with us easily. I am sending this letter to ask you some help. I know your interest in science, and specially in anthropology. So, I am asking you if you could recommend me some scientific experts in order to meet with me and my first officer the natives in order to learn their secrets. It is possible we have a hint concerning a mythical fruit I am trying to find. I learned you were founding a settlement in the new Cocovia. Is it possible for me to go there and meet the scientists in Quinnsville ? (I have a friend fisherman of MAESTRO that is interested in your fishy bays, I will lead him to your colony in the same occasion.) Friendly yours, Felipe de la Manzana."
