    LotR Nazgul and Fell beast

That looks great. Nice job on the helmet and wings.

    LEGO LotR - general discussion

Osgiliath is just more dark grey ruins. The gate of Minas Tirith would accomplish the same thing and would be much better all around.

    LEGO Hobbit 2014

I can't believe they reused two old face prints for two completely new characters. It's just so obvious TLG's amount of care evident from the first wave of LOTR has at this point almost completely disappeared. It's disappointing that Dain's helmet can never be reused for a generic soldier, and he also looks nothing like Billy Connolly, but he's a nice figure nonetheless. Thorin and Bard look magnificent though. Thank you for the pictures Carlos.

Looks like it will be pretty hard to army build off of Dain. He has a red torso and his helmet and mohawk look like all one piece.

    LEGO Hobbit 2014

Wow thanks very much Carlos! So no polybags this wave. That really sucks.. Can't say I was expecting those arches to ever turn up in a set again, but there they are! The whole building actually looks good. Azog has a new print. Dain looks great! Reddish brown beard!! Galadriel has the same face as Arwen on one side for some reason. Thanks again!

That's great! Can you tell us if the piece on the top of Dain's helmet is detachable? Or if Azog has a new face print? If there is any other molded creature in the set besides the eagle?

Jurassic World 2015 Rumors & Discussion

Yes!!! And I was just about to watch Jurassic Park again. 4 or 5 sets for the new film seems a bit much. I would think 3 would be from Jurassic World and the potential other 2 would be from the first films.

Well Tauriel would be somewhat useful for army building generic elves. If we don't get an Iron Hill dwarf as the second polybag I will be very disappointed, because it would require zero new molds, no new prints, and only switching around a few parts. Dain's beard, helmet minus mohawk, torso and legs, Gimli or Dwalin's head, a spear and maybe a shield. Shame we didn't get a new mold for that though.

No, I'm just saying I wouldn't put it past them. They might use Tauriel or Bain instead.

Knowing the way TLG thought out the entire line, it wouldn't matter.

Oh right, forgot about that fig. I was just confused there. Remember last year's bonus was just a reused Legolas poly. So you can unfortunately expect to see something like a non exclusive Bard.

What do you mean? Someone is selling the figs early on ebay? Edit: I guess you mean Bard.

    LEGO Hobbit 2014

Thank you, he looks good. But I wonder if the one in 79017 will have the new face print? That way the SDCC one is exclusive in a way haha.

A pic of his back printing would be nice if you could do that.

    LEGO Hobbit 2014

Yes to a D2C Erebor Gates!! It could be like this: $250 Bilbo with Mithril shirt and new face print, Armored Thranduil, Bolg, Dwarf Soldier x2, Armored Orc x2, Mirkwood Soldier x2, Lake-town Soldier, Bear Beorn, Molded Ram or a Reddish Brown Warg. Maybe throw in another Eagle and a Gandalf. Did I miss someone?

    LEGO Hobbit 2014

I'm glad he might not be so expensive. If Dain's mohawk is detachable, I will easily order 20-30 of him! I'm surprised his beard is dark brown. That makes it very easy to reuse him as a generic soldier. So far the BOFA set reminds me a lot of this set: http://www.geekalert...ts-LEGO-Set.jpg

pooh By the way Kev there are also images of the back of the boxes of 79015 and 79016 in case you didn't know. I can PM them to you if you want to add them to your flickr.

Who thought it was a good idea to make Bain's hair orange? It's been in brown before, why didn't they just use that color? What do you guys think Dain will go for on Bricklink? I'm not familiar with the prices there so I wouldn't be able to guess.

I didn't say it shouldn't include Bard, just that the blue Bard would have been a much better choice. Then you can put a more interesting character in Dale, like Bolg or a Dwarf soldier. On to 79017: Hard to judge on the build right now, but from what I can see and imagine, this set is insanely overpriced at $85 CAD. But the ballista thing is cool. Now, onto the very very bad part, the figs. Thorin looks great and his crown looks like a very nice mold, but does he actually wear this armor during the battle? I thought he wore the lighter, grey and black outfit. I would rather have had that. Bard is fine. The Azog repeat is dumb, it doesn't even look like he has new printing to me. They could have at least took this opportunity to fix his color to white. Two orcs is dumb. Legolas is AWFUL. They took the EXACT same figure from Mirkwood and plopped him here, god I hate that. What a waste. Now to my major disappointment, that there is not a single unnamed Iron hill Dwarf. This is the reason I cannot appreciate Dain, because his helmet seems to be unusable because of the mohawk! Now if it detaches from the helmet then I would be so happy. There is actually a chance that this is the case, so I will wait and see before I die of sheer disappointment. Unfortunately, there is no chance that there is a Dwarf polybag planned because there is no Dwarf soldier in any of the sets. And of course they will not use Dain for a polybag because TLG will be too busy putting the worst possible choices in the two likely polybags. This is what I fully expect from the polys after seeing these sets: the one army builder polybag will be an orc without hair and a catapult. And the hero polybag will be Bard, the brown coat version, with a catapult. You heard it from me first. So many missed opportunities from these sets. And the entire line.

Wow now that is disappointing. Easily the worst wave of the entire line. Luckily there are a few(read: few) good things to be found. Dol Guldur is what I expected, Elrond looks good, not sure why he's beating that skeleton to death though. Witch King is good except maybe the gray parts. Galadriel looks fine, gold hair is unexpected but an interesting choice. Definitely better than bright yellow. Lake-Town is probably the best build of the wave, though that isn't saying much. It's pretty sad they weren't able to make a new mold for the Black Arrow but I understand they were only trying to protect the sad winking onion head babies. Figs: Bard is a bad choice, there was really no reason to include two of him in one wave. The Bard from 79017 would have been fine, but reusing the old one is just awful. What was their reasoning for this?? Most who purchase this set, kids included, will likely own the previous Lake Town set already, or will buy it to add to this set. That makes you end up with not one, but two almost identical Bards! Ugh. Now onto Bain. I did not expect them to fully use the design from the game. The torso is fine, the head might be too. But the hair is really really bad. As soon as I get him I'm going to switch out his hair for Frodo's, even though it might not be the perfect choice. Short legs are an odd choice too, since he's only slightly shorter than Bard in the film. No problems with Tauriel, although the green color is just a lot brighter than in the film. Now, two orcs. TWO orcs. And reusing the Mordor orc print?? Come on! And the fact they could mold a new hair piece just for two orcs and NOT manage to design a Bolg of any kind, new mold or not, is disgusting. The box art is weird, don't really get the green foggy mountains. Did Sauron decide to release a toxic gas? I do like the box art continuity between waves though. Thoughts on BOFA in a bit.
