I present to you my WIP MOC of Marlinspike Hall, Captain Haddock's home from Hergé's wonderful Tintin books. Hergé partly based the exterior of this iconic fictional building on a very real one, the Château de Cheverny, located in Loire Valley, France. I designed my model to split into three sections in the style of TLG's modular buildings, so that the interior could be easily accessed. As far as the interior goes, there is limited detail at this point. The ground floor at this moment is considerably plain. The lower right wing only contains a couch and the left wing is left completely empty. Here you can see the marble staircase clearly. If you physically built the set, you would notice a chunk of one of the steps is loose.. And the stairs continue up to the more furnished second floor. Here in the upper left wing we have a room with a comfy chair, a small table with a telephone, and Iago on his perch. And in the right wing a bedroom with a large bed, two chairs, and a painting. The top section is inaccessible from the inside as the roof had to be strengthened with 2x4s so it would hold up in real life. I might end up making room for a small attic in the middle part at some point. Check out all the pictures on my Flickr. So, tell me what you what you like or what you think could be improved!

Wal-mart Canada's website currently has Attack on Lake Town and Witch-King battle for $17 and $8 respectively, a crazy good deal. Unfortunately the site lists them as out of stock and not sold in stores...

I remember they had said they would release the DLC 'closer to the film's release' and that's all I heard about it. I probably wouldn't expect it till early next year.

It's $18 here, I guess it isn't that bad for three good figs, but it's a boring build. $150 for Erebor though is just something I can't do. I haven't watch the extended editions yet, will pick them up at some point. I'm sure BOFA will be good, but again not great.

Thank you. I feel much the same way. This wave has been very disappointing for me. Lake town attack is the only set that appeals to me of the four (overpriced, aside from Lake Town I suppose) sets, but for some reason I just can't make myself go out and buy it. It will definitely take a really great sale for me to pick up the rest, and unfortunately any good sales on LEGO are hard to find here in Canada... I also agree with you a bit about the movies. I did like AUJ though, just DOS was a big disappointment.

Wow. That is amazing. You did such a great job on this. I imagine it costed you a small fortune though. Well worth it in my eyes.

I actually think dark green looks better.

Nice work on the hood, it looks great.

That's a great Orcrist. I only just noticed the Canadian prices for the new sets aren't the same as we had known for a very long time. They are all more expensive except for Lake Town and BOFA!

I always thought Hugh Jackman would make a good Tahu. The gearbox is nice, one thing I'm going to do with it once I get Pohatu is mod it to fit with his legs like the Mata one for fun.

what That is awful.

Having connecting universes/timelines would be the saving grace of the new story. There are so many amazing ways they could go about it.

I hope we will see a theatrical film in these next few years. I remember Hero Factory had a (live action?) movie in the works, which undoubtedly was scrapped. And BIONICLE is much more worthy of a movie than Ninjago, and that's coming out at some point. I'd still be happy with a DVD release movie though! Did you watch the video...? This is a fresh start, not a continuation of the old story.

That's the most specifically shaped cloud of all time.

He seems to be regular brown, if not then Dark Orange. It's false advertising. If they don't give me trans yellow I will boycott these sets.
-
That means December, or even November.

Not much new, but thought it was worth pointing out the Toa 'crash onto the Island' just like the original story. Canisters again? Or a ship maybe?

It reminds me of this. I think it's neat. And I'm pretty sure you won't see those chrome masks anywhere but NYCC and Ebay, by that I mean I would think they are exclusive too. Or just for display? Now that is a thought. Except having duplicates of minifigures is a lot different.

Here's what mask packs could look like: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/floundie/eurobricks/mask_pack.png Very quick recolors, it's not perfect.

It's so cheap of them. I have always hated that in the later years we always got either orange or green eyes, for everything. Here the green looks awful on Pohatu. Really too bad. 117 people are reading this topic right now. Crazy!

DAMNIT TRANS LIME GREEN ON POHATU? What happened to yellow?
-
Amazing. Amazing. Yes please mask packs!!
-
I guess so, haha.
-
The color of Pohatu's mask isn't consistent with the rest of him, and I don't think he's wearing a gold mask, so probably yeah.

Jesus, Pohatu's TINY. He's TINY!
