See I think LoSS is pretty outstanding. He may have some issues visually, but I applaud Lego for constructing a technic-built creature set complete with function after so many years. Even if it doesn't become the norm (nor would I really want it to be), I applaud Lego for taking steps in that direction again and therefore LoSS will be day one for me.

I would bank on it being the MoUP since it's the only mask we've yet to actually see. Otherwise, they would enclose a picture of the gold mask in question.

Yeah, that was a pretty glaring mishap, in hindsight. It should've been obvious, too; there was an absurd amount of friction.

Very fair points! I'm glad you acknowledge the beginning disclaimer because, along with the one in the description, it's there for a reason. :P All of the issues except for the neck-gears are comparatively minor and don't really affect the set either in functionality OR appearance. The neck-gear flub, though, is pretty serious and warrants an annotation/description update. I'll get on that ASAP; thanks for the correction! ok

Yeaaaah... despite my belief that the Vahi thing is legit I actually hope it isn't. I was holding out hope for a clean slate.

It's my personal belief that even IF the Vahi thing ends up being a true connection, and even IF the Toa are the same from the original lore, this fact won't be touched upon too much in the actual story. They'll probably leave it open ended, so older fans will recognize the connection and say "oh that's cool, a little continuity," whereas new fans won't be confused by the development and it won't interfere with the reboot atmosphere. BASICALLY, even if there are references to a "continuation," don't expect a legitimate continuation. Either way the cake is cut, it's a reboot. :P

You are very right! I'm quite curious as to the medium this new story's going to be told in. Obviously we have the mini-movies, but for some reason I doubt they'll be able to really delve into the plot with those due to their length. We don't get books until later in 2015, so it's somewhat perplexing. Personally, I'm holding out hope for the Okoto Online Game.

For what it's worth, the Vahi cloud influenced nothing on our end, at least. None of us even noticed its presence in the video until we had returned back to the hotel for the day and browsed comments online. The cloud means literally nothing, IMO, and is irrelevant to the questions asked to Jordan Paxton; I think it's just an easter egg. I'll quote from my post on the 10th for relevancy's sake:

I still believe it's possible; while it's very true that the Vahi comment could have been misconstrued, I tend to doubt it was considering we weren't the only ones to receive such a response. The amount of a connection that will be had is another matter; I doubt we're ever going to be revisiting the old universe, or that a ton of characters are going to be spilling over from it. :P WITH THAT BEING SAID, we talked to very few people so if you were to go with anybody's source, I'd listen to BZP because they've had a much larger degree of communication with people. Also, even IF we suppose there is some kind of connection, that does not mean that any old things from the story would necessarily appear in the new universe. I highly doubt the Toa Nuva would have any relevancy whatsoever, for instance.

    The CCBS "Improvement" Thread

OH YEAH, I forgot about feet. Yeah, I'll take those over new bones or shells. The 2.0 feet have overstayed their welcome and they need to leave forever. Also, top notch shell idea. :P

Yeah, I group those sets together with Tarix as far as mediocrity is concerned (Gelu moreso than Vastus, though). Vastus may be pretty bad, but he tried to bring some variety to the table albeit in ways that didn't really work out. It is pretty interesting; in hindsight, 2009 was just a polarizing year in general.

    The CCBS "Improvement" Thread

I'd just like a few new shells; that's all I really want (especially what Aanchir suggested). I understand the standardized concept of CCBS, but unless I'm completely wrong, we haven't gotten a new armor shell since winter 2011 (not counting torso armor). I'm also always welcome to the addition of new bone pieces. :P

    Bionicle 2015 Discussion

From what I recall, the top three issues people had with his design were: Odd torso armor Awkward weapons Impractical and absurd thornax launcher Smaller issues relating to the color scheme included conflicting shades of blue and the color scheme breaking silver shoulder spikes. For a lot of people, though, that stuff is minor. Personally, I could look past all of that if he wasn't so bland. The Glatorian line as a whole tried to bring a spark of fresh creativity (however small it may have been) to the Inika build system, and they mostly succeeded except for Tarix. For that reason alone, he's pretty bad. In a year like 2009 with so many standout designs, I consider mediocrity a flaw.

Yeaaah, he was pretty terrible. At least his blades were cool! Pretty good concepts! Not sure if I'm a fan of the armor on the sides of the knees, but I understand your constraints. I look forward to seeing updated versions later on down the line.

The VIP event, unfortunately, didn't include pieces from the Protectors. They did show the blaster at the panel, though, along with the Fire Protector; there's a good angle of it from 8:19-8:30 in this video. (Alternatively, though, if DV feels like making a video demonstration that would just be excellent)

Oh wow, you asked him too? Interesting. Sounds like that and the Temple of Time weren't intended to be elaborated upon, in that case. Yeah, we spoke to him about it as well and the bit about the Vahi was definitely stated by Jordan Paxton. What it actually means as far as the "soft reboot" discussion is another matter entirely, but we heard what we heard.

    Bionicle 2015 Discussion

What was stated was that Kahi, in talking to Jordan Paxton, questioned if the new BIONICLE was a soft reboot; he seemed unsure, and then Kahi said "like the new Star Trek movies?" He then agreed with the comparison. Considering the nature of those movies, the answer certainly piqued our curiosity. :P No Lego employee mentioned Krakua; that was wishful thinking/speculation on our part based on the Vahi hints and the Temple of Time on Okoto.

    BIONICLE Webisodes

Yeah, I find it puzzling how people are writing this off based upon the art style. They obviously aren't familiar with BIONICLE's roots. I'm looking forward to these, but I can't imagine they'll be the main source of storytelling for the theme considering each mini-movie will only be an average of 90 seconds.

    Bionicle 2015 Discussion

Thumbs up. :P To answer your question, Jordan Paxton stated that BIONICLE is currently planned for a three year run, similarly to most of Lego's other large scale themes. That doesn't mean it will end after three years; Ninjago went on to continue after its intended conclusion, after all. It just means that's all they currently have planned.

I can give you answers to these as well: 1. The gear system seemed to be able to hold enough friction by itself to make posing relatively easy, 2. The masks themselves fit on the head piece pretty firmly. They don't swivel up or down; they just sit there. However, the hinge connection is somewhat loose, and the masks are very prone to falling off.

Apologies for any misunderstandings as a result of any messages of ours! It was a pretty crazy day today, so I'm sorry if any of our info that we were meant to be relaying got crossed with our opinions. I've spoken to the others to help me refresh my memory in an attempt to clear up this misunderstanding; here's what happened. We inquired as to whether it was a reboot or not, and Jordan Paxton said the following (DIRECT QUOTE): "I don't want to say it's a reboot, because there are certainly elements that connect to the old story." Afterwards, we inquired as to whether these "elements" included the Toa, and whether they were the same Toa from the old storyline. He replied to that with the answer regarding the Mask of Time being "half a mask." Obviously this lends some credence leads credence to the belief that this will be a "soft reboot" of sorts, DEPENDING ON YOUR USAGE OF THE TERM, where elements from the old story still come into play and have an effect. Hence why, in our tweets, we used that terminology. I know we captured the Vahi bit on one of our interviews (provided it recorded okay), whereas the Toa question I believe was off-recording. However, we wouldn't really have any reason to lie. :P That's pretty fantastic! That trans-red Hau is a sight to behold. Very cool that you were able to get that stuff.

    Bionicle 2015 Discussion

Not a guess; we were directly told by multiple people that it is a "soft" reboot. I expect you'll be hearing concrete sources once we (and others) get the interviews up in the coming days. We'd have no reason to misconstrue info considering we were actually there. :P The reason being, they are strongly hinting towards connections to the old storyline (potentially involving the Vahi). They dropped major hints to the Vahi being only "half a mask" and its completion being a plot point. Based on that, I'm looking at this: -Toa from the Mataverse and are transported through time to an alternate timeline/dimension via Vahi -They crash land on Okoto -They lose their memories -REBOOT They will likely only delve into this territory in order to leave it ambiguous for the fans. There may be some kind of payoff involving the Vahi but I don't expect we'll ever be returning to the old universe. They stressed the concise, direct form of storytelling they wish to go for in the panel when they were mentioning how they'll no longer use a lot of old terminology. This whole deal will just likely be used as a bridging gap for fans; for all intents and purposes, it is a reboot.

The original leaker read something in a document that contained the word "dispenser." He couldn't verify what it was for, what its appearance was, or if it was 100% connected to BIONICLE (although it WAS grouped in the same folder).
