  1. I'm having the same problem, and no, letting LDD try to install the Flash component fails as well. I've updated the Flash player in both IE and stand-alone mode, but LDD still won't install. I'm currently stuck in 4.3.8 and can't download new bricks. EDIT: Found the fix! Open Internet Explorer and update Flash within that browser. Turns out I never did it properly, but LDD installed no problem after updating Flash in IE.

How is this connection even possible?

You guys are awesome! I don't know how you figure stuff out like this so quickly, since I literally spent hours trying to make this work. But yeah it ended up being an angular 1x2 plate that only comes in black and light grey, so I had to build around it to preserve the color scheme, but the descriptions you provided put me on the right track. Thanks so much!
  3. Here's the image: http://imgur.com/mjkXgT8 Specifically I'm referring to the three 2x3 plates that are oriented vertically, whose edges are flush with the surface of the 1x4 and 2x2 flat tiles. So if you look at the unit on the left, 6 studs from the far left are three 2x3 plates that are somehow aligned with the tops of 1x4 and 2x3 snot pieces. I have the two structures built independently in LDD, but I've spent hours on this and still can't find any pieces to connect them. Please tell me they're not glued...

    [Model MOC] T-47 Airspeeder (Snowspeeder)

Hi again LiLmeFromDaFuture,Well I'm sorry I made you feel so defensive, and I honestly don't blame you for that considering how much time you put into your creation. It's certainly much more creative than anything I've done (mine is simply a 100% remake of Lars's), and I meant no offense in my perceived lack of tact. With that said, I took a closer look at your album as suggested, and realized your wings are wholly unique as you said, but you mustn't understate the importance of Lars's chassis in your design. As you said, the system that connects "our head and limbs" is, by definition, the centerpiece to any work, and there's no way to incorporate Lars's distinctive nose and heatsink without also utilizing his chassis. You've used different pieces to achieve your own distinct aesthetic, and you've clearly done very well in that, but to say you've only used the nose and tail section of another work when the entire model is dependent on the innovations in the original frame is unfair to the creator. Please message me if you wish to discuss further as I don't want to draw attention away from your creation; I just wanted to make sure Lars's gallery was available for your fans to draw their own conclusions. Take care, ~icarusbirdGreat original design and thanks for taking the time to share your design with me!

    [Model MOC] T-47 Airspeeder (Snowspeeder)

Great work on this, but I'm worried you haven't given Lars enough credit. As somebody who recreated his Snowspeeder from scratch, I see you've incorporated all of his innovations as well as the general shape and frame, but you did a great job of adding a SNOT look to his wings and your own flair to the cannons and canopy. You definitely did a great job on this, but I feel compelled to share that this is still Lars's design at its core.https://www.flickr.c...157626336430183 Thanks to LilmeFromDaFuture's explanations and pictures, I now see his fuselage design really is unique compared to Lars's, and that he credited Lars appropriately. Sorry about that. Also think you should post pictures of your original nose design because it looks pretty great!

How to piece together sets through Bricklink?

Thank you for the tips! I tried to keep those maxims in mind, but I think it was a combination of being new to Bricklink and not being totally familiar with the tools the site offers that resulted in such an inefficient buying experience. I kept a spreadsheet, I only bought from the sellers with the most unique lots from my wanted list, and I comparison-shopped like crazy...but still blew it. And I will definitely let Lars know that I have his design sitting around on my computer :D

How to piece together sets through Bricklink?

Well I officially fail at Bricklink. Lars's T-47 MOC is comprised of around 550 pieces according to LDD Manager (which is flipping fantastic btw), but six orders and around 700 pieces later I find myself paying a grand total of $91.50 for this thing. I'm not great at math, but that's well over the 7 cents-per-part goal I had in mind. "75535 Technic Pin Connector Round (Pin Joiner Round)" alone set me back nine bucks for SIX of the little guys! I guess I can chalk it up to a fun (but expensive) learning experience. Anyways, thanks for the help everybody. And I also have a complete LDD version of Lars's Snowspeeder if anybody wants it. (What's the accepted etiquette on that, by the way? I feel like I should contact him before I distribute a digital version of his work)

    UCS TIE Vviper [completed]

I can't wait to see the final version! I'm always trying to learn new SNOT techniques, and even this close-up shot is chock full of it!

    [MOC] T-47 airspeeder

Hello Lars! First I wanted to say that your T-47 MOC is among my all-time favorite here on Eurobricks. Anyways, as I've mentioned in a couple of other threads, I'm working on re-creating your MOC in LDD so I can eventually export an inventory and bricklink the parts myself, but I'm having a tough time finding the exact color you used for some of the brinks in the wings and on the bottom. Specifically, there's a 2x2 and 1x6 plate that are just oh-so-slightly yellower (?) than the light bley wedges around them. It's like a half-tan, half-bley...I can't match that color with anything! I'm starting to wonder if you're just so dedicated that you deliberately left some pieces in the sun to give your T-47 that awesome aged and worn look...? Anyways, thanks for the excellent instructional photos on your flickr! Even with the instructions though, LDD just flat-out refuses to accept some of your rather clever techniques (especially the nose).

How to piece together sets through Bricklink?

Hah, what a weird coincidence Lobot! As soon as I clicked your link to your UCS Death Star I instantly recognized it as the thread that taught me it was even possible to piece together whole sets through bricklink! I remember thinking, "Holy cow, 7 cents a part!" That's a pretty good average I think; you must be quite a shrewd shopper. Well thanks for all the tips! I think I may actually luck out with the shipping costs, since even though I live in Germany I technically have a U.S. address, so I can order through stateside stores and so far their shipping prices seem extremely reasonable. Oh last thing, is anybody interested in a parts list of Larry Lars's T-47 MOC? Because I'll have one for you shortly!

How to piece together sets through Bricklink?

Wow, great information, thank you Bob De Quatre! I'm looking forward to checking out LDD manager, it looks like exactly what I need. Entering everything into a spreadsheet does seem fairly labor intensive, but I don't expect this to come in anywhere over 400 pieces. And holy cow I can't believe you pieced together a 4,000-piece SSD entirely through bricklink! I'd like to see that if it's in the MOC index. Anyways, thank you again for the help!

    [MOC] R2D2 factory

That's brilliant! Your attention to detail is remarkable: the nice clean tiles in the sales room, the scorch marks on the wall in fire-testing, even a security camera! So original and creative, I love it.
  13. Good morning everybody! For the last several days I've been working on re-creating Larry Lars's amazing T-47 Snowspeeder MOC in LDD (something I'm brand new to), so that when I'm done, I'll know that what I have before me is every piece in every quantity and color so that I can just hop on bricklink and custom order those pieces to make my own T-47. But as I get closer to finishing the digital version, I'm starting to wonder: does LDD even feature some sort of tool to export the part inventory, or will I need to disassemble it and try to match every part against the descriptions in bricklink? Even then, do you guys typically find a favorite store and order everything in one place, or is there significant enough variation in price that you end up shopping around and placing orders with multiple stores? Well either way, it's been fun just putting the thing together in LDD. Thanks!

    [MOC] T-47 airspeeder

Lars's T-47 MOC is by far my favorite of everything I've seen on the MOC index, and as such I'm working on duplicating it in LDD so I can: a) learn from the best, and b) have a complete list of parts from LDD so I can bricklink this sucker. Lars, the instructions you provided in your Flickr gallery are amazingly helpful, and your technique is fascinating. Some of it I can't even duplicate in LDD! Anyways, if anybody is interested in the .LXF file just let me know!

Display Stands for Star Wars Ships

Check out the stand for the standard B-Wing; it's utilitarian, unobtrusive, and works within the context of the main set. I just saw it for the first time yesterday and now I wish all system sets came with a stand like this. Unfortunately, I don't think something like this will solve your TIE display problem
