    [MOC] Midi-Scale AT-AT Diorama

Discovering the Battle of Hoth on screen is one of those childhood moments I'll always remember. So my first ever walker MOC had to be the AT-AT from Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. And for such an iconic scene, making a diorama-style build was mandatory. At only 19cm (7,4") high, this Midi-Scale AT-AT consists of 924 pieces (1,317 in total with the diorama base & T-47), and is accurately Nanofig-scaled. It features a movable head and fully articulated legs, allowing many different poses. Working at such a compact scale, capturing fine surface detail and smooth, gapless angles for the body required a great deal of unique techniques. My main goal was to make the model feel deceivingly heavy and massive despite its small size, and of course achieve that prop / toy vibe I'm so fond of. The most challenging parts of the AT-AT were definitely the head and legs: the head for its subtle angles and challenging shape, and the legs for proportions, joints, feet, and very slight width differences as you go towards the bottom. Nanofigs (or trophy figs) scale perfectly to both the AT-AT and T-47, which also scale accurately to each other. The diorama base allows the AT-AT feet to be connected in various positions, and can accommodate two flying T-47s. This 358-piece base is optional and comes in a separate parts list, for builders who prefer displaying the model solely (picture 7 in the Flickr album). Parts list also include a string piece that can be easily added to reproduce the harpoon scene (picture 5 in the Flickr album). ► Instructions for the AT-AT are available at BrickVault. More pictures on my Flickr page.
  2. Hello everyone, throughout the last 1,5 I updated you guys regularly in my WIP thread for my Empire Strikes Back in Lego Project. Now I am finally done with the project and I'd like to present all my 63 scenes in this new thread to you. The goal of this long lasting project was to re-create my all time favorite Star Wars movie entirely out of Lego covering all iconing scenes. The most challenging parts for sure were that I wanted to re-create everyting out of Lego so I needed to build all the backgrounds for Hoth, Dagobah and Cloud City as well. After watching the movie like for the 200x time in my life and making notes of which scenes I wanted to build I had quite a long list of 60+ scenes. As I already re-build A New Hope in LEGO in 54 scenes it was clear for me that I didn't want to pay less attention to Empire Strikes Back. Hence I took this challenge and now after 1,5 years I am really happy that I covered all 63 scenes :) I hope you enjoy my project and that you will also follow me on my journey of buidling Return of the Jedi (starting in November 2021) The Empire Strikes Back in LEGO (1/9) by Codyaner_bricks, on Flickr The Empire Strikes Back in LEGO (2/9) by Codyaner_bricks, on Flickr The Empire Strikes Back in LEGO (3/9) by Codyaner_bricks, on Flickr The Empire Strikes Back in LEGO (4/9) by Codyaner_bricks, on Flickr The Empire Strikes Back in LEGO (5/9) by Codyaner_bricks, on Flickr The Empire Strikes Back in LEGO (6/9) by Codyaner_bricks, on Flickr The Empire Strikes Back in LEGO (7/9) by Codyaner_bricks, on Flickr The Empire Strikes Back in LEGO (8/9) by Codyaner_bricks, on Flickr The Empire Strikes Back in LEGO (9/9) by Codyaner_bricks, on Flickr PS: you can have a look at all parts in high quality on my FLICKR Album. [MOC] [LDD] ION CANNON

Hi After checking out the so called " cubistic ion cannon" in the new UCS Echo Base set I decided to give it a go and try to create a more worthy design. Here is the result: What do you think? Is it any better? Let me know what you think. Also, If you want to help raise attention to this please support the idea in lego.ideas: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/140111 CHEERS! Thanks!

    [MOC] Desk-Scale Star Wars fleet

Back when the original Lego midi-scale sets came out, I fell in love with the idea of having models the size where they were small enough to display, but large enough to have detail and be cool. So, I set out first with my all time favorite capital ship in Star Wars, the Venator Cruiser. I roughed out the main idea, and kept tinkering with it ever since. That was 6 or 7 years ago. I was a beginner, so needless to say that it took four years of tinkering, remodeling, overhauling, and learning that got it to where I was satisfied. My thoughts about midi-scale, or desk-scale as I call it, were to focus on capital ships, since it seemed cool to have the largest ships in star wars on my desk. I also had the benefit of there not being very many people that had done capital ships at this scale. As a result, I built my next favorite capital ship, the executor. If you see the other photos, it was a good attempt, but it wasn't the greatest. Luckily, I found @skayenhere on Eurobricks who showed how to make the dimensions correct, though his is much, much larger. One good overhaul and viola!, the current model. (compliments of @skayen) It was around this time that I discovered Bricklink, which expedited the process. A lot. I decided to give it a go with smaller craft, starting first with a ship I came to love, the Ghost from Star Wars: Rebels. This time, design to completion only took a month (working on it off and on). It was also on this one that I tried my hand at custom sticker work as you can see on the cockpit and front turret. Then, I saw Rogue One and had to have a U-Wing. That was a pain in the butt as I designed and bought the parts only to realize that the wings were way too heavy to be supported by only a clip. I redesigned them to be lighter, but I still had to give up the functionality of the wings folding outward. I’ve seen others be able to do it, but I didn’t have the techniques to figure it out without an entire overhaul (which I don’t have the motivation or patience to do). It looked good, and that was enough for me. I left the clip in to make it look like it could though :D. Then, I had to hit the Resurgent battle-cruiser that was introduced in The Force Awakens. There wasn’t much source material at the time (pre Last Jedi) and I'm glad it turned out as well as it did. All the while, I'm getting better and better at designing and building, so it went from four years to completion, to two, to finishing two in a year, to now three in a year. They aren’t the most complex builds you’ll ever see, but that’s part of the style of this collection. Now for the Falcon. I hadn't dared do something so iconic since it'd been moc-ized at every conceivable scale innumerable times. But, I studied and saw one niche scale where it hadn't been given justice in my eyes, and I went for it. Another driving factor is the Ultimate Collector's Series Millennium Falcon that had been released that same fall to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Episode 4. I wasn't going to pay $800 dollars for a set, as cool as it is, and I didn't have anywhere to put it even if I did. Time to crank out the desk-scale experience. Two months later and there it was, my greatest thus far. It weighs two pounds. I managed to finish it before 2017 ended, making it my 40th anniversary celebration piece. Be sure to hit my flickr to see a couple of timelapses of me building this sucker! The latest I’ve done was inspired by @Inthert when he modified his excellent U-Wing into the junker version that appears in Star Wars: Rebels. I thought, “why not? I can so the same thing!” and voila! I’ve since shortened the wings a bit from these pictures so they are more accurate. Here's some pictures of most of the fleet on a wall: Their public debut and my first Lego Con, Brickslopes June 2018: I hope you enjoy. - Jordan Fridal aka simplethinker Every model has one element, idea or technique that I borrowed from someone else. So thanks to Erik Varszegi, V1lain, Tim Goddard, @Inthert, @sparkart, Palleon, @DarthTwoShedsJackson, @skayen, @Brickdoctor, and the LEGO Group! I’ll leave it as a challenge to all of you to look through the photos and figure out which elements came from where.
  5. Here is my Assault on Hoth MOC layout. The idea for this build came after building the Raskolnikov AT-ATs half a year ago. They were standing on display next to other SW sets, but I felt that they deserved more. The intention was to make a Hoth display for the Imperial side instead of an Echo Base, which has been done many times already. After designing the layout in LDD I started building and more ideas came to mind. I decided that I still needed some Rebel influences as otherwise the display would be too dull, so I opted to go for a Trench as seen in Episode V. The entire build is modular so that I can easily transport it. The left and right side are both on 2 48x48 baseplates and are connected via technic pins. The 'snowground' is constructed with 16x16 plates and some smaller ones. Dimensions: Entire build: 96x96 studs (80x80 cm) Snowground: 88x88 studs Partcount: 13000+ Credit: I used a lot of inspiration from existing MOCs/MODs and other things. Credit goes to all these people for their builds:

    [Model MOC] T-47 Airspeeder (Snowspeeder)

Greetings to all, Finally, after the course of almost 3 months of designing in LDD, I have finished my original creation of the beloved T-47 Airspeeder—but what we all know and commonly refer to as Snowspeeder, from the epic battle of Hoth featured in "Empire Strikes Back." Prior to building this airspeeder, I loved The Empire and everything concerning it, yet I despised the Rebels and everything about them. Well recently before the snowspeeder, I have been building a minifigure-scale AT-AT walker and numerous things related drew on me—especially the snowspeeder. I began to find the snowspeeder quite fascinating, and the idea to have one accompany my walker. Now the rest was made history in the course of about 3 months. Proceeding to photos Upon the level of detail, yet on a small scale, one would consider this a scaled down version of the 10129 UCS Snowspeeder model for minifigures. Like so it would be appropriate to design a display stand, for a "in flight" position. The bottom is nothing less of a swooshy-esque Now proceeding to various details of the ship: Here is the inside of the cockpit Unlike others, I decided to forgo a detailed interior. My priorities were to design the body with structural integrity, and readily accessibility for placing and displacing minifigures—even to having them sit on tiles instead of plates, because we all know how frustrating it is to pull minifigures off of studs by their headgear. Besides the smooth uniform slope of the repulsor units or either the laser housing, one of the most unique details are the grille detail on the repulsor units. Prior to designing, I have not seen this detail properly represented, but with exception to Lego's UCS Snowspeeder. I am appreciative I was able to achieve this because they look absolutely attractive. As well of something that is other times overlooked is the barrel diameter for the lasers. I believe any were to make their original T-47, the barrel diameter for the lasers should be according to. There is simply nothing else better than the use of technic pins for this aspect of the aircraft. As you have notice, besides the new Speed Champions windscreen, I have implemented Larry Lars' nose design into my work. I originally used the decorated wedge brick used on Lego's former Snowspeeder products, but later on in the design it work as desired. But what I always find remarkable about the plated nose is how readily easy it was to implement without sacrificing any details on the wings. Also I used Lars' most recent heat sink design, yet I made changes to it for implementation into my snowspeeder. Not only that, I as well replace that hinge plate he used for the plug detail on his with a modified tile with clip—for added accuracy of detail. Thrusters. What I believe is also critical to be represented, is the smooth, uniform, transition from the end of the wings to the boarder of the canopy. Simply the way this aspect must be, but mission accomplish here. Onwards to the structure of the build: The minifigures Luke & Dak True, Luke & Dak did not operate a snowspeeder with orange markings, but who ever cared about this with the original snowspeeder back in 1999 and its reboot in 2003? Unique 20 facts about this: I have fidelity for details and for them to be accurately represented as possible in my models Yes, I am perhaps a model maker, yet I aim to utilize Lego in unprecedented ways to incarnate the quintessence of that which I am modeling after I have only implement Lars' design for the nose and heat sink the rest of this model genuinely original The model is quite modular—can be separated in three pieces: body and wings The body is structurally sound—comprised of mostly plates which are overly interlocked to each other It would take such a crash to obliterate the body This model consist of 486 Lego elements The dimensions of the model from the wides and longest points (excluding the laser tips) are 20 x 23 studs Only three parts are unproperly connected according to Lego's system There is no black elements featured in the model (excluding the display stand) The heat sink and the grille pattern of the repulsor units are featured in old dark grey—a stylistic preference to highlight these aspects of the model in a respect to have being weathered down by heat The thrusters uses a dark grey antenna—a rare color unreleased before The harpoon gun was redesigned 7 times before settling on the current version (which makes 8) Despite some elements in older colors, the oldest part is the sunroof set for the canopy The display stand consist of 30 Lego elements While displayed, the snowspeeder is locked fixed onto the stand by the four fingers clutching the rib-esque section underneath While attached the snowspeeder will not wobble and could even be handled upside down (though that is not recommended) Placed on horizontal surfaces, the display would not topple unless intended force is applied There is 176 white elements, 151 light blueish gray elements, and 136 dark blueish gray elements A LDD file is available and is free as for now *FILES REMOVED*

[MOC] [LDD] I Am Your Father

The Empire Strikes Back's Duel on Cloud City between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader is one of the most iconic and significant scene in the Star Wars saga and in film history as well. Also emotionally this is the most dramatic turning point or climax in the whole story. In that case this epic moment deserves a Lego set. Lego already released the 10123 Cloud City set in 2003 roughly with all the Bespin scenes. Now we're focusing on the lower levels throughout the chamber, where Vader revealed the truth to Luke. The project based on the original location that we see in the movie and also uses the behind the scene photos as reference for the sizes, shapes, colors as accurately as possible. What do you think about it? Is it really a must have scene? If you like the idea please support here: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/139111 Also if you want this to become a real set share it with your friends! Thank you! Cheers!

    Review-75075 Microfighters AT-AT

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, there was an AT-AT pilot with a tiny AT-AT. Now, let's find out if he will get accepted into the Empire. First Impressions: 8/10 The box is small, very small. The AT-AT looked kind of cute, and my only disappointment was that the micro in Microfighters was further emphasised by the fact that there was only 88 pieces! Minifigures: 6/10 The AT-AT pilot is the sole minifigure, but its torso design is very nice and detailed. Shame he didn't come with Veers or Snowtroopers, but well, it's a microfighters set after all. The AT-AT pilot came with a short blaster. The Build: 6/10 It's a relatively fast build and only took me ten minutes to complete. Along the way, the AT-AT starts to take its famous shape. End Product: 7/10 The AT-AT is small but very posable. I think it may or may not look good on your shelf, but it worked fine for me. Overall: 7/10 A great set for a Microfighters set.
  10. Hello, I am totally a newbie in the LEGO Star Wars forum, I am more a Historical builder. As it is my first attempt to make some SW MOC, I wanted to show you my little build. My wife bought me as a gift, some microfighters and 2 SW advent calendars, the 2014 and the 2015 ones. I made a scenette showing my Microfighters from the original trilogy in action. I didn't have many bricks available, so I decided I'll build the MOC using only the bricks from 2 sets : The 2014 Star Wars advent calendar and The 3866 The battle of Hoth boardgame And then I put the microfighters in action like you can see in the photos. Hope you like it. Diorama microfighters 01 by Thomas LOUYOT, sur Flickr Diorama microfighters 02 by Thomas LOUYOT, sur Flickr

    [MOC] Probe Droid

Hello everyone and regards from Finland, I am a new member on this forum and I thought I'd like to share some of my recent MOCs. I am Star Wars fan to the ultimatum and here you go, as my first MOC here: Lego MOC Probe Droid Features two Lego-battlepack blasters, the other hidden into the core structure, and the other lurking between the legs. The head also rotates as in the movies. This MOC will also make a small part of the Kessel diorama we are setting up for the ModelExpo 2015 in Helsinki (10.-12.4.) with Hereticae and a couple of other builders. Those dark grey clips on the core that hold together those black control sticks on a tube I will change to black ones when I happen find/buy more of them. Those red 1 x 1 plates are the bolts of the blasters that are not very easily seen from this angle. Challenge: take Lego-pictures without cat megablocks in the picture. So far success rate 50 % for Legos. Apparently the Imperial Viper Droid was no match against the mighty Krayt Dragon... -Samppu
  15. We are running the Star Wars Olympics now at our german forum Imperium der Steine, this is my entry to the second round. This time my task was to build something with just 4x4 studs on ground, but at least 20 bricks high. I have choosen the most popular scene from Star Wars ever. The legendary Bespin Duel, when Vader tells Luke that he is his father. The scene itself stands balanced on just the 4x4 rounded tube. Greets Disco
  16. Being promoted to the Imperial Department of Military Research, my mission was to lead the construction of the shield generator on Endor. After finishing the landing pad and clearing the area for the generator, Lord Vader paid us a visit. I presented him our plans that were outlined by my new colleague Karin. He was satisfied with the progress, since for once we were on schedule. But he found some of our troopers showing to much compassion to the natives disturbing. I promised him to take care of that matter ... Okay, creating studless foliage really is mission impossible ...
  17. I (theman) stood still, rifle in hand, as the group of two natives stepped through, with a scout trooper, equipped with a blaster and riot shield, behind them. Admiral Peras stood near, grinning sadistically as a DX-79 transportion speeder arrived, piloted by an AT-AT pilot. The two Natives stepped inside the container, as the AT-AT pilot looked around, obviously hoping to be done soon. I didn't like this one bit, these natives have more of a right here than us. Still, I'm a loyal soldier of the Empire, and I do what I'm told. Admiral Persa gestures to the pilot, and he pulls the lever. The DX-79 speeder zooms away, the two Natives and a Scout trooper inside of it. The Admiral smirks. Boy, how much would I want to rip that smirk off of his face. "Theman, don't you think the Natives are scum?" I have to think on the moment. While I don't think they are, Persa wouldn't like that, 'I agree sir, the Natives and Rebels are scum. They should be eliminated" I do agree that the Rebels are scum, but not the natives. Bonus images: Here's what the Speeder looks like with the Ewoks inside: AND: ALSO: Sneak peek of an upcoming freebuild: "Down, down!" I, theman, ordered, as two Rebels entered. The Rebels ripped one of the weapons off of the wall. Uh-oh, I though, as the weapon status lights turned red. Anyway, guys, what do you think of my first episode? Please comment with feedback! Thanks, guys and gals!
  18. I borrowed the wing connection mechanic's idea from a different rendition, one I came across a while ago. I wish I could find it again so I could give credit where it's due but for the life of me I've not been able to come across it again. Should anyone recognize the pivot point approach I've used please drop me a note as I want to give credit where its due. I went through three or four incarnations of what I thought the cockpit canopy should look like and sadly this was the best I could come up with at this scale. I'm still not 100% happy with it but anything else I could come up with was even worse. I could find very little in reference to the underside of the T-47 but what little I could find appeared to show an intake scoop towards the aft so I've tried my best to model this as well. More pics and file download on my MocPages account.
