  1. Did Lego ever share a link for this? I'm also a little disappointed in that job posting. It looks like they are after someone who has a marketing background but who likely has no actual background or history with Lego. Sadly I have been around this type of thinking before and it gets you exactly what you'd expect. A few people who have mastered the use of buzz words, but who actually know, or understand, very little about the core consumers. There will be a lot of meetings and a lot of guessing, and a lot of hair-brained ideas that look awesome in powerpoint. (And I have no idea why a Lead Insights Manager needs SQL)

    LEGO Ideas Discussion

The Sesame Street set looks kind of cool, but the Muppets with non-molded heads are going to look really bad and cheap.
  3. I had heard the same thing at the time, but it still doesn't excuse slapping a limited edition number on it. People would have still been into getting an early copy (without the limited edition tag), but it would have stopped the prices on Ebay from getting stupid. And the same goes for Mr. Gold. Not to be a broken record about it, but there is absolutely no call for a $700 minifigure. It's obnoxious. Figure out a way to get copies out there so the prices come down to a reasonable level, and there is less room for people to get ripped off with counterfeits. How much effort is it to put the head, hat, torso and legs on Bricks and Pieces for $5 a pop. You make your core audience happy, and make a little money while you're at it ($20 for a fig has to be a pretty good profit margin) and no one gets fleeced for close to $1000. (sorry for the rant, but this is a hot button topic for me)

THE PIRATE BAY IS GOING TO BE AN OFFICIAL LEGO SET!!!!

What are we thinking the price point would be on this? (Euros/USD)
  5. whoops, missed that (sorry). But what a whacked out trip that figure was. I was really annoyed when they first announced that figure. The image was all over the place, being promoted like crazy they're going to make less than 300??? It was beyond obnoxious. Luckily it was so crazy expensive it wasn't even a possibility for me personally. I'm happy they made it right, but was hoping that they learned their lesson. And all it would take is two little words "Preview Figure". But alas, I don't think they learned anything.

    Custom minifigures

As someone who collects customs let me break it down simply into 4 types.. 1.Chinese Knock-offs are not made with Lego bricks, and the plasitic is normally very inferior, though there is certainly a range. I've yet to see one that could pass as Lego. You can normally get these for about $1 a figure, up to maybe $6 for someone over-charging a bit. 2.Decal-ed and sticker-ed figures - I'm not sure why anyone would want these, but they do they exist so important to know. 3.UV/ Digitally printed - Digitally printed figures will normally look like they have raised printing. ALSO.. because colors are a CMYK process, if the registration is off they can look blurred. These figures will normally go from $10 to $20 each. 4.Pad Printing is the best. This is what Lego does and is a process where each color is individually printed on the figure. It's a long process and requires creating plates. Also, any videos I've watched on it also make it seem like you must make negatives to make the plates. There are only a very few people doing this and prices fluctuate wildly. The best and most reasonable people doing this (that I know of) are Citizen Brick. They typically charge $15 for a figure which is very reasonable considering the process. While I'm sure they are making figures in a decent volume (I don't what to guess at the exact number) they do go out of print. I've never seen them bring a figure back (with the lone exception of a Walter White variation). Out of print Citizen Brick figures can run you $45 to $200. Also of note is I sometimes see people selling in-print figures for silly prices while they are still available on the citizen brick site for a fraction of the price. Seems like a crappy thing to do, but know that just because someone is asking something doesn't mean it's not available elsewhere for much cheaper. There are also a few other guys who sell pad printed figures on Ebay. I'm always a little weary of these. If I can get a pad printed figure I really like for $25 or under, I generally think that's a decent price. However I would never bank on them going up in value because most of these guys continue to release figures. One particular guy is still selling figures he was doing 10 years ago, but only a little at a time. I have no issue with this, but people sometimes have bidding wars on a figure, driving them up to $200 plus, and then a few weeks later he'll sell the same figure for $40. Given that I'm on a budget I don't involved in bidding wars, but the ones I get for cheap are great. I hope that helps.
  8. I'm skeptical. I may be forced to do a water displacement test (though the hollow arms of the big figs may cause that test to be misleading).
  9. I completed my order last night (in the US) while holding my breath as I hit the order completion buttons. It went through! I'm so grateful for all the minifigure parts! Sadly I'm way past critical mass with my collection so getting some figures directly from Lego keeps me off the secondary market (which is so appreciated) and keeps me from having to sell unwanted parts on Ebay. Nothing against Ebay and Bricklink but if I can save time and money by giving my money directly to Lego, it's very helpful.
  10. I wasn't even thinking about the feet, just the general feel of them. I'll look them over, maybe they're 5 times bigger. But still a whole lot bigger than they should be proportionally.

    Pictures from old LEGO Catalogues

It would be great to get a coffee table book of these. The only thing I'm thinking is isolating some of these shots and doing an image search to see if higher res ones are available. I have most of these catalogs but I don't think the scans would be worth the time.
  12. Back up in the US. Cart problems persist. I've gotten my cart whipped a couple times and that hurts, but if I can get my order in all will be forgiven.
  13. While I collect them, I feel the same way about big figs, They sould have made them more mini-figure-like, and almost all of them are out of scale with minifigures (being way to large proportionally) Like Thanos and Darkseid should be 1.5 times bigger than a normal figure, maybe Hulk at 2x bigger. Not six times bigger.

    HIDDEN SIDE - 2019

Wow, what the heck!!! Seeing as that was my first Hidden Side set, yes, I would have been beside myself that it's not included. The incompetence of giving away a set, to gain interest in a theme, when that set is not featured in the app your promoting, is off the charts. That will have the exact opposite result. I was even thinking it would be pretty cool if they included some not Hidden side sets in the app to drive interest. That would be cool. I mean, if the app could actually be used by people who don't have the latest iPad.
  15. They already did this to a degree with the Lester figure. They promoted the image of Lester like crazy but only made less than 300 figures. These then sold for between $1,500 and $4,000. Then Lego decided 'Hey let's not bone our fanbase' so they made a virtually identical figure available in the their Leicester square store for a reasonable price. Of course, if you paid $3,000 for a figure (only to have it come out for $5 months later) it must have felt like Lego stole your (albeit used) car.
  16. I'm somewhere in the middle. I like the vibe of Rouge One, but really hated the fact that no one lived and there was nothing to build on or feel good about. On the other hand, I have a deep hatred anything episode 1 to 3, and Gungans were the most offensive thing in those movies. (Offensive in the sense they insulted the audience's sensibilities) When Star Wars is at it's best, there is a sense impending doom, but also a feeling hope.

    Town plan?

Build up and not out. It's not as fun as having a sprawling city, but a multi-level display case or shelving unit would solve a lot of space issues AND provide a natural break between city folk and country folk.
  18. This is pretty much what I'd like every series to be, though to be honest, I've kind of done with the costume minifigures, Also I appreciate all the hate for Mr. Gold. It's kind of like Willy Wonka's golden ticket, except instead of following Charlie's story, Lego decided it would be nice to show 99.999% of us what it feels like to lose. I don't need Lego to tell me I'm not special. I get that enough in daily life. Take your chase figures and stick them where the sun doesn't shine. Let's focus on stuff we're actually able to purchase.
  19. Well, I did see some shots of a live action Doom Patrol somewhere. I would love to get some Grant Morrison era Doom Patrol figures. And yes, I think you could get a whole series of DC CMF just by characters in Movies and TV alone, and still have some left to spare. I really wouldn't consider any character that headlines a TV show or movie 'obscure'. Swampthing (Movies and TV) Constantine (Movie and TV) Kid Flash (regular on Teen Titans go) Jonah Hex (movie) Raven (need a non-TTG version here) Guy Gardner (Lego direct to DVD movie) Bat-Mite (Lego direct to DVD movie) Mitzelplik (Multiple cartoons) Adam Strange (upcoming live action movie) Sandman (one Episode of Rick and Morty... Ok, a little bit of a stretch, but I need this)
  20. I used to have this recurring dream about Lego. It would start with me finding a garbage pail full of Lego. Then I would think to myself that I must be dreaming because this is too good to be true. As I would slowing be coming out of the dream I'd hold onto the garbage pail for dear life, hoping to bring it back with me into the waking world (Because this line of logic makes a lot of sense when I'm dreaming). Then I'd wake up with no more Lego than I went to bed with. How does Lego manifest itself in your dreams?
  21. I'm not a huge Legion of the Super Heroes fan, but for some reason it bothers me to have Lightning Lad and not Saturn Girl
  22. I've been out of comics for a while so I have no idea who that Green Lantern character is. and being a traditionalist, I don't like when the Earth Green Lanterns get drawn in different uniforms than the rest of the corp. This figure in particular just looks like a rehash of Millar's Kick-a$$ character. Edit: I must have just triggered eurobricks auto-correct with this post, pretty funny as I've never had that happen. It might backfire as it immediately make me want to try other words.

    Funny Dreams about Lego

I might never forgive this, lol. This reminds me of another dream I've had where I go to huge store, and they have a set up of "rare" Lego figures that never came out behind a rope. And I stand there frozen, wanting desperately to stuff them in my pockets, and trying to figure out if they'll be missed (if taken). Same sort of just out reach anxiety.
  24. Obscure is relative. Personally I wouldn't count any character with their own ongoing comic book series as obscure, let alone TV series or Movie. Yet I'm sure a lot of people would consider anyone outside of the original Justice League "Obscure". Anyways, I'm a lot more excited about 1st Metamorpho then a 7th Harley Quinn.
