    REVIEW: 6249 - Pirates Ambush

I love these old sets Great reviews you've been providing
  3. Would you say its easy to make it RC? It seems to have plenty of space in cockpit for steering motor but what about the drive? Great looking model
  4. Only problem with gearbox is that you cant use all functions at the same time and maybe effe wants to have that possibility
  5. That and ajusting the rear wing angle... but I will surely motorise it to drive and steer instead £80 translates to ~100€ which is a bit steep for a set whitout any motors
  6. Other than the F1 all the remaining sets dont appeal to me at all... not complex enough and no sign of PF. They sure look appeling to kids with the pullback motion, which I think puts Lego down a level (the pullback thing).
  7. Lovely MOC These orange/black combos are becoming popular nowadays, and it does looks amazing!
  8. Am I the only one who gets bothered at the discrepancy in the scale between the different technic sets? For instance, lets take a technic figure, sit it into the Unimog and it will look like a baby, place it on the excavator and it will look too big, on the Crawler it wont even fit I suppose. And these are all flagships, so I'm comparing in the same class. This kinda bothers me
  9. 54: Toilette Lots of detail, nice work!
  10. Just found out this lovely MOC by Henry Quarmby in mocpages using only parts from the 8110 "Motorized propeller. Motorized Pistons. Motorized compressor and pneumatics. The same Motor drives the pistons and prop and compressor. There are 3 pneumatic switches in the cockpit. The left one controls the left aileron up and down. The right one controls the right aileron up and down. the one in the front center controls the rudder left and right." http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/317028
  11. I dont like 9398 and apart from the new motors I dont see any particular reason to buy it... 9396 on the other hand really appeals to me and is surely on my buy list, I will however try to motorize as many functions as possible.

    Instruction manuals

The ideia is to share the building, for instance in 8110 there are 5 books, one for cabin, another for crane, etc... This way all the family can be bulding different parts of the set at the same time and then assemble it. Makes no difference to me, actually I prefer to have several "thiner" books than only one very big.

Who buys whole sets for figs

I dont get this "minifig trend" all of a sudden LEGO is more about tiny figures than it is to actually build stuff I buy sets for parts, I could not care less about the minifigs...
  16. Hi there, I'm having a bit of a problem building a claw on a crane. I need it to rotate freely (the claw) and also mechanically... I'll explain better, I want the turntable to rotate freely all the time, but sometimes I also need to custom rotate it. My problem is that in order to having it rotate I'm pluging it into a motor, and of course then it wont rotate freely Its actually the same principle as a bicycle wheel, it runs freely until you activate the pedals and then the gears kick in and control it. Any chance this is possible? I was thinking of a gearbox to activate/deactivate the gears that go into the turntable but it wont work since it's still connected to the motor and it wont move. Not sure if I'm making myself clear Edit: Could I use two turntables one on top of the other? So that the top one rotates mechanically and the bottom one rotates freely? Problem is that the top one would maybe rotate on his own and doesnt rotates the claw.
  17. Very nice idea there, thank you. I will try that but I think that my claw weight will offer too much resistance and cause the gears to slip, since the gear that makes that mechanism work is actually "floating" and not fixed to anything. But it might work!
  18. Yeah that's it I am considering a spring attached to the gear shifter so that when the claw is loaded the spring extends and disconnects the driving ring... but I think this is too much complex for the space I have avaiable. I'm testing several stuff at the moment.
  19. Its a construction vehicle that can pick up and drag large concrete pipes I'm back from my dark ages and I'm facing a lot of new advancements having just builded 8043 and 8110, my most advanced set before these two was 8829 so you can see where I'm coming from Thank you for your help.
  20. Would that work? When in the above position the steering wheel can be moved freely on his own/by hand correct? If the driving ring gets engaged towards the gear then the motor kicks in and moves it. (Nevermind the gears used, its just for demo purposes)
