  1. so you edited your post to clarify what you meant to say, leaving the people who correctly interpretted your post as it was, looking like idiots? You know a gear box doesnt have to change gear ratios right? The fixed reduction stage in front of an electric motor is often just called a gearbox. so technically speaking any technic set with two or more gears has come with a gearbox. Any more edits from you?
  2. Good to know fakes come this obvious from amazon, since learning about how they co-mingle all 3rd party sellers inventory together with their own ive stopped buying all lego from there. I had assumed they'd at least make the box look pristine to stop you noticing all the other issues. I dont believe ive ever seen the tyres bagged for the larger technic cars. As you pointed out the bags should also come numbered. You also wont ever see the blue 3L pins or the longer beams all bagged together like that. The 11x15 frame also comes loose, dont see that in your pic though
  3. do you find much difference in the quality between alex and metod? For your 6 drawer config did you have to buy what i assume are the maximera draws seperate and install them where you like or do they still come pre-drilled?
  4. having to go back 25 years to cherry pick a year doesnt really help your argument though. Going back 2 decades, 18 sets of the 217 contain a plane or heli as the main model, and the majority of those are just promo bag tier junk. No year contained more than 2 sets and has never been a flagship model
  5. the mistakes are hardly critical though. The gearbox issue will never be noticed by casual builders and the 2 diffuser panels are an easy fix if even noticed. Those mistakes would still exist even if TLG went down the road of a single colour interior so i dont see the point of conflating the two topics. Anyone wanting to display the opened chassis will more than likely have the parts needed in black/grey to make the swaps.
  6. i get the opposite feeling, being of a similar build to the sian im satisfied im not missing out on much if i skip the sian. Either way i was going to skip it due to the egregious lime inconsistency that's a complete deal breaker for me

    [HELP] Panel Storage

as an avid user of the akro mills style drawer systems, lately ive been starting to see the benefits of the tacklebox trays. I was however looking at trays that have the removeable containers that snap into a grid, this seemed to be a hybrid of the two options. Had never considered having them stacked up into racks though so each tray is then accessible which i think is the game changer here. I like that i can currently get any piece with just one drawer touch but having all pieces of a similar type right there in the open closer to the build seems good also. Just not sure i want to commit to such a change
  8. i assume the motor torque is being recorded by the hub, is that averaged over the 0.8s or the maximum value? You also dont seem to make use of the motor RPM once calculated so i guess that was just there for fun. Based on the equations you used for efficiency the motor angle cancels out from both terms (assuming non zero motor angle) so you're really just looking at mass*radius*g / motor torque. Given that the top term is just some constant for both gear types in any given mass test you may aswell just ignore its value too and just directly compare motor torque recorded for each gear type. A reduction gear train isnt generally where you notice issues with the bevel gears anways. Try the unofficial test again but measure the torque required to spin each one and then compare those. Could try a longer gear train with a few alternating or neutral ratios so the final ratio isnt too much to stall the motor.
  9. compared to what we normally get in technic this car is stunning. The people comparing it unfavourably to 42000 are absolutely mad. The airbox alone on the mcl36 is so much more refined. Who cares if theres a half stud gap just above the engine if you're looking perfectly side on, how many times are you going to get that angle looking at it in person? Are any complaints made about the ugly single half beam trailing the airbox on 42000? Ok the wheels look a bit derpy, but so do the real wheel covers. Printed different sized slicks would mean 2 new expensive parts that cant sensibly be reused in mocs. Would have been nice to see slightly smaller covers that fit inside the step of the tyres making them flush but ohwell.
  10. 3 leaked images are up on reddit for those not yet seen. Seems we get new blue printed tyres. Same livery as the 2021 car but the front wing endplates dont look the same as the 2021 car

about as elegant looking as a bag of bricks if im honest
  12. interesting mechanism, if im understanding this correctly you're effectively driving the output straight from the input but then use the differential to throw in some intermittent negative rotation to cancel the input rotation?
  13. Tested with the studless beams on both sides of the studded to prevent a test axle from just racking to the side. In your configuration an axle drops through without any friction. Whatever difference there is seems to be less than legos own tolerances so there isnt any argument to be had for it being illegal. A 2 plate offset gives enough friction to hold the axle from dropping out but still its very light friction. A full brick is quite tight and definitely feels forced, would likely be bending whatever you have supporting the studded beams.
  14. Its not the majority of consumers that lego are afraid of
  15. I setup a motor on servo mode bound to a joystick on the ps4 controller. If i flick the joystick to one extreme rather than it moving to the servo range value it will move in the correct direction but just never turn off. Any input on the controller doesnt change the motor from running unless i exit the screen. Hopefully that makes it clearer
