José's Inn - Ye Olde BoBS Drinking Hole
Ross Fisher replied to Darnok's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Now, young-uns. Fetch an old sailor a drink, and I'll tell yeh a story. A tale of fencing, fighting, torture, revenge... Oh thankee! So, where teh begin? Our story begins in the year 530 (by our reckoning) in the Zhevrenai Delta. That's in the Great Alliance States, as I'm sure you know; the Delta being the main route into the Alliance States for any traders from old Halos. What ye mightn't know, unless ye're a proper seadog like meself, is that the Delta is all shifting channels. Most of the Delta folk stay nomadic. Anythin' permanent is raised up high above the water on stilts, with houses made from straw or planks. There be a saying; "nowt lasts forever in the Delta". And there, and then, there were a young lad born and raised, called Bogdan. Ee was named after 'is great grandfather, Tsar Bogdan the Great. Y'see Bogdan was the son of Prince Ilya Bogdanovitch. If you din't know the name, it's prob'ly because Prince Ilya weren't a important member of the Royal Family. He certainly weren't a popular one. Did a lot of things that din't go down so well with the Tsar and 'is people. So it weren'ta surprise that Prince Ilya and his family were shipped off to the far-off Floating City of Salobrinsk, in the Duchy of Mechov. But that place might'a been the best thing that happened that happened to that family. It meant Prince Ilya could get Pan Twardowski of the Corrington Royal Academy as a tutor for his son. Gave him just about the best education a young man could get. And, for a while at least, they were happy. -

It was on the cheaper side for Ideas sets and contained a bunch of unique parts. It also supported the Women in STEM initiative, which is laudable. I like the big custom versions of well-known vehicles, but they rarely need to be an Ideas set, rather than just a set of instructions. -

Got a new favourite cocktail that's been called different things in different places. It's basically a banana milkshake with peanut butter and bourbon, whipped cream, sprinkles. Bloody great. -
Dammit guys!

I love this idea, but do you mean that he was exiled? -
Thanks for the correction. Not great at Dutch, so it was my attempt at a kludge. That said, I'm going to keep it because it is a decent mix, reflecting the mixed real-world background of Altonia.

Extract from Lloyd's of Londa Adjustor Zane's report from Altonia. ...Everyone has been super helpful and interesting! I've been dog-sledding and ice-fishing, and all sorts of other fun stuff! You guys would love it here. The ice-harvest is great fun. Oogstmeester Van Hoorne really knows his stuff, and he's got a good team of guys here. The things they do with ice! I'm going to watch them loading the harvest up and then I'll head home. Ice shipping is really exciting and I definitely recommend that we support this industry. See you soon! Zane

I really wanna do a multiple choice adventure like Marcel's one: I'll have to think up some ideas, but it could be great!
-
This is a really nice build. Really a credit to you!
-
Perfectly legitimate. I'm surprised by how "gentle" your summary was...
-
Sounds good. I will be sending a representative of Lloyd's of Londa.
-
Yeah... I'm going to be building this scene:

[OL] The continuing adventures of Archbishop François by his companion, Monsieur Gallo
Ross Fisher replied to Ross Fisher's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Hear ye, hear ye! In an unfortunate turn of events, the Abbé François has been bankrupted, and imprisoned as a debtor in the Chateau D'Ouennes; the fort that he himself paid for, and the reason he was bankrupt in the first place. Heretics and heathens everywhere must surely be breathing a sigh of relief. - Town Crier, Lavalette OOC: The Abbé got hit hard by the one-two combination of rule changes to raiding and then fort costs. He will remain in Prison until his debts are cleared.- 28 replies

He's an Abbé now, not a Padré. But yes. Perhaps the inquisition needs to have a good hard look at the homeland... -

@Django Fett Really interesting story! Emile's adventurers sound like they have some exciting times ahead. If Abbé François can offer any help, he will happily do so.
